Destiny 2 PC Launching Oct 24 / BETA: July 21-23 on consoles, late August PC

I don't quite get why they decided to move it up randomly by two days. I think they know a ton of their fans already took that Friday off from work/school too.

Probably to move the launch farther away from the weekend and the inevitable server meltdown.

It kinda sucks that console players will probably have the raid on farm by the time PC players are even able to make characters.

I don't mind PC delays usually, but I think Destiny shares a lot of similarities with MMOs that make me feel differently about this, esp. in the contex of the community discovering content together.

Still, October is more than reasonable if the port holds up.

Where is my mini Cayde WoW pet and free Cayde-6 Heroes of the Storm unlock? LOL I mean I'm slightly disappointed that they didn't take advantage of it being in the bliz launcher more. Maybe they will toss those up on the preorder page later. Aw hell now I want a Cayde-6 announcer pack for HotS!

I imagine Blizzard is trying to keep Destiny fairly separate from everything else. It's not a Blizzard game, it's just piggybacking on the Blizzard launcher so they can utilize Blizzard's online store and infrastructure.

Preordered on PC! Don't mind the wait at all the PC version. Luke Smith even said they will do their "best" to keep everyone together as a community by the time the PC version launches too (was in that Geoff interview).

Also, will be worth it for that 60+ frames alone.

Really interested in his Blizzcon comment, however. Pretty sure it means nothing, but I wonder also if Destiny will have some sort of presence at it this year?

Fucking Sony locking out content that can show up in the activities that matter pool, so stupid. And I say this as someone who will be playing on PS4. What good are exclusive maps and strikes if they can't be included in Nightfalls, Trials, etc.? Ugh.

While I expected worse, spoilers will be everywhere and that shits infuriating. Loss of experiencing everything with the community.

They better hold raids back 7 weeks too >.>

But at least there's silky smooth frames and gameplay to look forward to...

;_;

This is depressing.

PC is the platform where bugs are more easily found and they delay both BETA and release?

Why is this allowed in the industry? Damn you, Bungie.

Yeah it's clearly just not a priority. I don't care what they say.
Isn't PC bug testing harder because of all the potential hardware configurations they have to account for?

And they're probably adding stuff like mousekeyboard optimization and manual graphical tweaks that they'll need to test for to make sure they don't break the textures or cause Vsync issues or stuff like that.

And at the end of he day, it's a 1.5 month delay. I was expecting WAY worse when they announced the pc version would be delayed, like next year.

If it's only 5 weeks, why would they not do a simultaneous launch?
Am I supposed to ask my console-owning friends to wait before they start playing?

I was already put off by this being an "MMO" with raids and the like, instead of a single player/co-op FPS, but everyone I know that played the original on consoles insists that it's really good.

That really, really sucks for PC users.

PC is the platform I want to play Destiny 2 on, but I really don't want to wait a month and a half to do it. That's a long fucking time.

Passing on Destiny 2 entirely. A 1.6 month delay is bogus, everything will have been spoiled by then and everyone double dipping after playing it for more than a month will have a huge advantage. Also, the poor release date is about the time all the big releases are coming this fall/winter. Not too many games are scheduled for September (well I can hardly wait for Cuphead but still)...

So ready for this. Just recently got into Destiny and am playing through all the content in the original, up to the Taken War quests now and loving every moment.

So keen to be part of this from day one, starting from the Beta on the 18th.

With the PC version coming after the console version, there’s the risk of other players on other formats spilling all the raid secrets before we have a chance to go in blind. Is that something you’re thinking about?

That is something that is a non-trivial amount of pain to me as a player. But it’s also, in this case, sort of a necessary pain. We want the PC build and the PC version of the game to get all the time it needs to be a thing that we are, as Bungie, excited to ship. And that means taking the time to get it right and, unfortunately, to take the hit on—you lose some of the zeitgeist and that sort of emotional momentum. I will say we will be working tirelessly to unify those two communities as quickly as possible.

Anthem it is then

Rofl wat a shit post. A game that has 3 minutes (It looks amazing btw) of scripted gameplay that will most likely be delayed until late 2018/2019 that we know VERY little about vs a game that actually comes out in sept and oct

That's what betas are for.

So everything spoiled raids included before PC gets going...

You got to be fucking kidding right?

The figuring out is half the fucking fun
