UK General Election 2017 |OT2| No Government is better than a bad Government

I spent post after post after post saying how great Ed was to no avail. Then he goes on the radio and talks about toilet and music that belongs in it and everybody loves him. Hmph

Will they get the votes and if not, what happens?

Almost certainly they will. The DUP would need to vote against the Queen's Speech, and they won't do anything to help let Corbyn in.

If something changed and they somehow lost the vote, then you'd probably see May resign, but the Tories would stay in and try to form a new government with a new prime minister.

"Grenfell Tower: 16 council inspections failed to stop use of flammable cladding" - Via The Guardian.

Some pertinent sections:

Inspections were spread over almost two years during the £10m refurbishment project between 2014 and 2016, but these appear not to have spotted that the building was being clad in a material effectively banned on tall buildings by the government.

It also emerged that in 2012, designers Studio E Architects proposed fire-retardant cladding, but the product that was eventually supplied for the Grenfell Tower works had a flammable polyethylene core.

Aluminium cladding of the type believed to have been used at Grenfell, with a polyethylene filler, is not compliant with building regulations on taller buildings in the UK.

Judith Blakeman, a local Labour councillor who represents the Grenfell residents, said: “This raises the question of whether the building regulations officers were sufficiently competent and did they know what they were looking at. It also begs a question about what they were actually shown. Was anything concealed from them.”

Some serious questions coming for the council.

So since the Queens speech was so watered down does that mean it will pass the vote or is there a chance that could happen?

This is the closest I have followed this section of the process so I wasn't sure of the likelihood of it happening.

Evening folks. Thinking about starting the next UKPoliGAF thread (and locking of this one) on the passing of the Queen's Speech. Sound good?

And when the Queen's speech doesn't pass? What then!?!

Aye. Godspeed GE thread. We will see you again.

And when the Queen's speech doesn't pass? What then!?!

Probably wait a week or so to see if we've got another GE, then figuring it out from there - if we get another GE thread this year though I'd volunteer to do it.

I think the QS will probably pass though - there's no reason for the DUP to vote it down and if Ken Clarke's speech is actually indicative of hit thought process he has no inclination of voting the government down.

You'd need a few Tory MPs to not show up that day.

UKPoliGAF |OT| We really messeDUP didn't we?

I also still hope that the Speech fails just because it'd be amazing but it seems unlikely.

UKPoliGAF |OT| Coalition of Cunts
UKPoliGAF |OT| Things are looking pretty good
UKPoliGAF |OT| It will be a shitshow
UKPoliGAF |OT| Strong and Stable government* (*see Terms & Conditions for more information)

If Labour truly consider themselves to be a government in waiting, Corbyn has wised up and is expecting another election soon, then surely he has to reshuffle the shadow cabinet shortly after the vote on the Queen's speech to make it more credible / palatable to the centre.

I know a few people who were tuned in to what Corbyn was saying but shied away from voting Labour due to the likes of Abbott, McDonnel, Thornberry etc.

If he was going to make a change I feel he would have done it already, and making for a charm offensive over the next few months. Guess it would be hard for the guy to drop the small handful of people that were loyal to him over the contest last year.
