Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

The dead zone level on the stick is insane. Crash doesn't move until you're at the middle of the left or right of the stick.

I was wondering why Crash felt so heavy, I have my answer now.

Looks like there's a lot of hitbox problems (specifically in Crash 2) after watching some speedrunning attempts.

I was getting pretty bad frame drops on the papu papu boss fight on ps4 pro. So far pretty unimpressed with the performance. The input lag has been a struggle.

I'll confirm this when I play it but I'm expecting the level of control precision of the new Skylanders game. Which is er..not quite in the level of the original Crash games.

Got the game! My only experience with Crash is playing the first stage of the first game lol.

Just finished the first five levels of the first game.

This is such a nostalgia trip. And the game is just as good and fun and frustrating like back then!

Yep it's really bad

To the point I'm just resorting back to the dpad for ALL games.

I feel like I'm missing something on the controls for Hog Wild.

I can't seem to jump over that last spit roast pig no matter what I do.

Got to Pinstripe in Crash 1, think that's my stopping place for the night. Man... some of those new bonus levels are kicking my ass. Also I discovered in the Cortex Power level that if you hit a checkpoint, and then go back and hit an earlier checkpoint, that it switches your checkpoint to that earlier one... that sucked, lol. Had to run double the distance to get through that level while trying to get all the damn boxes.

But whatever, this game fucking rules. So much wonderful nostalgia. You poor bastards posting about Native Fortress... you're in for some pain.

Amazon Germany sent me an e-mail saying that I'll get my copy of Crash on August 2! WTF?

So much for pre-ordering, paying for Prime, and not supporting independent game shops. Wouldn't this be my only source for streaming Seifneld, I'd have already cancelled my Prime subscription.

As I didn't get the promised call back from the useless fucks that Amazon employ as CS agents nowadays I've just sent a formal complaint at them and sent it to the CEO office too.

I've been a Prime member for years and insisting that One Day delivery is not 24 hours, claiming a dispatch notice isn't actually what it says it is and then claiming Prime membership doesn't mean you get next day delivery is bad enough. Putting the phone down saying I can't do anything but I'll get someone to call back knowing you're lying is quite another.

I basically resorted to some PS1 era button mashing and got it somehow lol

I actually remember having issues with that part of that level years ago when I replayed Crash 1 on my PSP.
Took me ages to figure out the correct jump pattern to get past it -_-

Got to Crash 1’s 3rd island. The game is a blast and most of the improvements have been for better. But I suppose it’s time for mandatory problem telling.

Native Fortress wasn’t bad, but I got a game crash in there. Has anyone else’s games crashed? I wonder was this coincidental.

I also definitely feel like controls were altered in a way that harms some sections. Hog sections drum jumping is harder and most notable is hitbox on specific jump objects, crates and turtles. If you don’t hit more center than in original, you’re likely going to take damage or fall off. What makes it worse, is that I think the game is more punishing on ledges. I feel like that in some parts, I could’ve made a jump in the original, but here I just fall off from ledge. This may harm someone’s gameplay.

Normally I don’t want to jump on “it’s different and bad”-wagon much, but it is notable if you played a lot of original. I don’t know if this is as bad in 2 or 3 yet.

Don't know about the rest but this was 100% a problem in the original version. I replayed it a few years ago on my PS3/PSP and found the exact same issues with those levels.

beat the first game, got some where under half the gems

i don't know if i will come back and try and get them later or not, i kinda just want to play crash 2 now

Just beat Ripper Roo in Crash 1.

This is such a cool nostalgia blast.

It doesn't hurt that the game has aged better than I thought it would.

Also I love that they kept the PS1 memory card image when you're overwriting a save.

That level is ridiculous. I must have gone through 15 lives trying to finish it.

Ripper Roo also made me want to tear my hear out. Literally had 4 gamer overs before I beat him :P
Is that the one with lots of fire and big spikes logs? I've had to step away from the game as that level has me dying over and over and sometimes it doesn't feel like it's my fault.

Of course there has to be another level like Road to Nowhere. Fuck off High Road. And its bonus level is probably the first one where I didn't bother to get all the crates. :P

I will say this:
I love the reactions to the difficulty of Crash 1.

I completed the game as a teenager yet it took proper effort. I didn't have the internet then but the collective shouting of "Fuck you cunting jumps that have a 1mm tolerance and fuck you later levels" would have been something to behold.

I fully expect to be contributing to the swearing later.

Honestly it's about what I remember in terms of difficulty. Some levels you'll breeze through and some levels will take all of your lives.

At least auto-saves are a thing now.

Why is difficulty ok in action RPGs but not in platformers?

I am no pro gam0r by any means but I have always and still do enjoy the difficulty of the original Crash. You actually feel some sense of accomplishment when completing later levels.

If Crash 1 was any easier it would be far less fun.

Dunno, doesn't make much sense to me either.

I think difficulty is fine, but difficulty spikes are bad (not that I personally mind them, but it's poor design).

Of course there are people who think platformers are kids games and should therefore be easier, but those people are just wrong.

After 2 hours of death I finally beat Native Fortress

Holy fuck

wtf Native Fortress is quite the difficulty spike

Yup, the difficulty of Native Fortress is real. Well, the difficulty of certain sections, anyway. I wasted about a dozen lives trying to get past the three fire-pots in a row jumping-section.
That's right, just because I have a Crash avatar doesn't mean I'm actually good at these games :P

Games look amazing though, and like Ratchet 2016, they feel fantastically smooth to play. Very impressed so far.

I love that the game has a challenge, it's just that a level like Native Fortress should at least be built up to. This is my first time playing Crash and it feels like the game decided to start stomping the shit out of me lol

I look forward to next challenges though
