Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

I love that the game has a challenge, it's just that a level like Native Fortress should at least be built up to. This is my first time playing Crash and it feels like the game decided to start stomping the shit out of me lol

I look forward to next challenges though

The game just wants to make sure you aren't a total scrub when you leave the first Island.

I think difficulty is fine, but difficulty spikes are bad (not that I personally mind them, but it's poor design).

Of course there are people who think platformers are kids games and should therefore be easier, but those people are just wrong.
That argument is bad to begin with.

Most children are faster learners and end up far better gamers than their parents.

Games aimed at younger children are totally separate from this but you underestimate an 8 year olds ability to play "hard" platformer games like this at your peril.

2 hours? Damn. I died there like 10 times but stil breezed through the level in like 10 minutes.
I kept getting tripped up by the triple fire pots near the end
Yup, the difficulty of Native Fortress is real. Well, the difficulty of certain sections, anyway. I wasted about a dozen lives trying to get past the three fire-pots in a row jumping-section.
That's right, just because I have a Crash avatar doesn't mean I'm actually good at these games :P

Games look amazing though, and like Ratchet 2016, they feel fantastically smooth to play. Very impressed so far.
This was me. It just took me longer.

It's been amazing to see just how many females are picking this game up in my friend circle.

I posted footage and pics from the game on both my instagram and facebook and both have had a fair amount of comments, with lots of people I know who barely play games, a lot of them female, heading over to a store after work today to pick it up! :D

Why did I complain about The High Road, The Slippery Climb was 100 times worse. :P
fuck you, you ain't getting any checkpoints, deal with it

I reached the end of this level in Crash 1 and it says I got all the boxes but it isn't turning into a gem. Did I miss something?

The dead zone level on the stick is insane. Crash doesn't move until you're at the middle of the left or right of the stick.

I was wondering why Crash felt so heavy, I have my answer now.

I was playing with sticks and dying a lot more, I thought it was just Crash 1 being hard, but when I changed to D-pad it got a lot easier. Glad it wasn't just me.

The levels are;

Toxic Waste
The Lab
The Lost City
Generator Room
Lights Out
... and Slippery Climb.
Yes. Really.
Oh god I forgot about dark levels. Slippery Climb is etched into my nightmares but I think I'm dreading this one more

It's a coloured gem. To get it you need to finish the level with every box, and not lose a life (1UP). If you die in the bonus areas it doesn't count as losing a life, so that's fine. I did this last night, was tough but fun. Every death felt like my own fault. Just learn the stage and be careful.

I 100% Crash 2 back in the day and didn't think it was too hard, but from this thread I feel like I'm about to play Crash Souls.

You know, the difficulty of Crash 1 is weird. Pause for a second and ask yourself: why is it difficult? Why do we keep dying? I mean I've beaten much harder games, that demands way more reflexes (hell I just platinumed WipEout) and yet I just died 20 times in Lights Out. But there's nothing, it's just basic platforming, the controls are dead simple.

I noticed that the majority of the time I'm just too impatient, don't take my time and just die stupidly.

Take your time guys. One step at a time, don't rush.

Native fortress 3 fire jump pads timing is different. The timing is CRAZY tight.
If you can do that stage without losing a life, props to you.

Ha in Road to Nowhere you can jump onto the rope and just walk on it over to the next section. Not sure if it works in the whole level, but Ive just done it in two different places.

And apparently, if you die a lot, they throw in an extra checkpoint for you.

Glad someone figured out this old trick ;)

Good to see they kept it in.

Is there a trick I'm missing to the speed runs in Crash 1?

The fastest times are like 10 or 15 seconds off my time while I'm actually running through without issue and getting all time boxes.

Damn it, it was in the original as well? Man I was a fool as a kid :(

Yep! Long known trick to the level :D

From an old guide:

A trick to the level is to walk on the rope that supports the bridge, this is
generally effective but at times it can be difficult to stay up there without
falling off. Oh, and the level will require you to have the Red Gem in order to
fully complete, so don't waste time trying to get all the boxes in one goon
your first go through here.
