Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

Road to Nowhere is an absolute cock block on Crash 1.

Killed my enthusiasm dead :P

Done two of the hubs on Warped though. Handling on Hog Ride felt weiiiird, but I can't really remember if the OG game felt like that. You get boosted and you turns laboriously....

Hahaha. Hilarious reading all these salty posts after all the feel-good hype.

I hope you guys make it through :P
Salty? I think we all remember how much Crash hurt us back in the day.

We're older now and can explain the pain better.

My partner got a gold Relic on Boulders and not for off the Platinum. I'm impressed.

My one disappointment with the game so far is that Crash's eyebrow raising isnt as exaggerated in the Hog Wild remake.

That shit made me giggle every time on PSX

I feel like the last hog in particular is harder to time jumping over this time, but overall the level is easier to get the box gem than before because the controls are a little tighter. It was really difficult to zig zag between left/right for the boxes before, a little easier now I think.

What's the best way to get lives in Crash 1? I can't remember tbh. I'm always under ten...that's not enough for levels like Native Fortress.

Damn, I know y'all are gonna hate me for posting this, and I want to love this, but... HOLY SHIT IT'S HARD!!! It doesn't feel like every death is my fault either. The camera doesn't always give you the best angle on the action, which leads to a LOT of depth perception issues that it can make difficult to gauge where you are in relation to where you need to jump. Also, the controls just feel awkward and imprecise, even with the D-pad. They're just so touchy, and it's so easy to go just a bit too far on some of these ultra precise jumps. It's like the levels were built with a level of precision in mind that the controls can't quite deliver.

I want to stick with it because this collection looks and sounds fantastic, and I love platformers (plus, these are the only Naughty Dog games I haven't played, and I want to be able to say I've beaten 'em all), but damn, this game is raising my blood pressure, lol. Do the sequels get better/easier/better designed? Do the controls improve? Also, what's the deal with all the keys and diamonds/crystals/whatever I'm apparently missing in every level so far? I feel like I'm missing something there...

Crash 2 and 3 are infinitely less cheap than the first game.

Maybe slight spoiler? I think this only happens after 100%:
I've noticed a few other bandicoots in the background of some levels, don't think the original had this? Nice little Easter egg I guess

Crash 2 and 3 are much easier than the first game.

There are two keys in the game and they come from bonus rooms in two specific levels, you get the gems by breaking every box in a level, and the relics are gotten from time trials.

Nah I'd say that's less to do with the game and more to do with being used to watered down games of today, especially platformers. Going back to old games I'm always surprised at how hard they can be!

Lol... look around, friend. You're in good company. Embrace the struggle with us.

Or move onto 2 and 3, which are not nearly as difficult.

The first game is absolutely brutal. The other two games are much better designed and are much more manageable. They also control so much better. So yeah, just switch to 2 or Warped if you're feeling burned out by the first game.

Started with Crash 3 because it's the one I love and played the most as a kid and the controls don't feel nearly as precise as I remember. The double jump in the game feels wonky and hard to judge and overall the platforming feels sluggish. That or I remember the games a lot differently but I always thought they controlled wonderfully back then

Did they nerf the wizards in Warped?
No more lewd time?

Noticed that too.

I beat Crash 1 earlier, some right ol' cheese towards the endgame there, palm sweating gameplay galore. Odd that the final showdown with Cortex is sort of building up with the amount of reflecting you have to do only to suddenly pull back for the last two hits.
In any case that was way more enjoyable than I expected. Barley managed to avoid a game over towards the end.

So obviously it's on to Crash 2 right now, 2 worlds down and yet....I think, I think I prefer Crash 1, substantially so.
So this is what DKC1 fans feel like huh?

That said I did only just discover that slide jump has DKC roll jump properties of midair jump, fuckin' gamechanger!

Thx for the info, guys! Idk, should I just skip over to Crash 2 and 3 and maybe come back to 1? Am I missing anything? It's just sooo hard, and I'm getting so frustrated, lol. I'm on this level called "Road to Nowhere" right now and it is relentlessly kicking my ass right now. :(

You're not. I finished Crash 1 a few years ago. It's nothing special. The worst of the three by far.

Why did I agree to get my free oil change today? I've just been lingering for the past hour after getting off work, just waiting to pick up my copy!

One thing I really prefer about Crash 1 over its sequels is the consistency of its game world. It really feels like a long adventure. In Crash 2 and 3, you're just teleporting all over the place.

Feel free to skip 1 if you're not enjoying yourself.

There is something nice about the cohesive island theme throughout with a dash of late game villains factory, man I could make yet another Kong comparison here.

While 3 benefits in its own way with the portal hub due to the time travel concept, Crash 2's stage archetypes not so much, I also REALLY don't care for the sewer/pipe stages and i'm talking from a level design standpoint here.

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one lol
I was getting kinda crazy here specially because I finished all these games when I was a kid.
So I thought : "let me see how my fellow gaffers are doing" and looks like everyone is having a hard time too lol

the music tho

Crash 1 has bad enemy placement

Why do I keep seeing these piranha plant enemies bunched up together. Killing one with a spin automatically kills the other so what's even the point.

Native Fortress is a sad level. Someone hurt it, and its lashing out at me as a result. I want to love it, but I just don't know how.

Really makes me wanna skip to Crash 2, like so bad.

Ehh, I want to, but... I'm really stubborn, lol. I'll keep at it for now, but wow, dat difficulty... People who say Dark Souls is hard should play some Crash 1, haha.

Which is fine. I just think anyone should really play Crash 2 and 3 before dropping it completely. I think Crash 1 is a terrible place to start the series with anyway.

Got dayum. Game looks damn fine but the controls... it's hard to adjust by today standards. I don't have problems with difficult levels but riding the tiger in Orient Express and riding jetski in Making Waves is feeling like skating on ice for the first time. Dem memories make up for it until now, but I can't remember the game being so hard. Pretty difficult to finish levels without losing lives.

Just done Road to Nowhere.

Man my hands are raw.

I'm getting multiple game overs per level now, many I forgot how hard Crash 1 was D:

People are really having issues with Crash 1, huh? I played the original game on PS3 and beat both Native Fortress and Road to Nowhere rather handily...and that's with the input lag that comes with the PS3's emulation on PS1. Is the remaster considerably harder or something?

What the hell, you can't
duck under the darts
anymore in Warped?

Two strikes, VV.
