Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

Finally beat 1. I didn't get all the extras, but I salute those who are lol.

Just started 2 and all I'm gonna say is, it feels like it was made 5 years after 1. Lol, love it.

Slippery Climb is made up of the same venom that caused Jay to cheat on B. I forgot how hard it was lol.

Still not as hard as High Road was IMO, man I love the classic challenge C1 is giving.

And that's Crash 1 all wrapped up with all 26 gems and all 26 platinum relics.

After all these years I still love the game.

Thanks to you, I finally platinumed Crash 1! When I saw my time was 17 seconds over for Gold in The Lab, I was at a complete loss as to what to do. It was the last stage I had to earn a Gold Relic in.

I now have 15 Platinum Relics and 11 Gold Relics. Good enough for me. I don't think anything gets unlocked if you get all Platinum Relics, right?

Now I can finally put the hard game behind me and enjoy my time with Crash 2 & 3.

I'm glad I was able to help!

You're right about the platinum relics not giving you anything. They are there purely for the challenge.

Man the hitboxes on the orbs in the cortex fight at the end on crash 1 are crazy. Feels like you can clip threw them one moment then the next you die just looking at them.

So when you're going for the special gems in the first game, is there no better way to restart when you die than to quit out to the map and restart the level?

Sadly yeah, so hopefully they'll patch a retry option as it is already available for Time Trials.
Edit: Holy fuck Kinsei! Congratulations!

For everyone complaining about loading times, how long does it take to load a level from the map (In Crash 1)? I'm using an SSD and the loading time is about 6-8 seconds

Man that end part of Bear It right after the nitros is insane, you have such a small window after tapping circle to make the Polar Cub move faster where you have to land right before the Orcas but over the obstacle. Took a while but I got lucky, Naughty Dog even knew to throw a checkpoint immediately after that mess lol.

Can I just say what a fucking beautiful dream it is to be playing this game, remade for a current gen console. Still can't believe we're here.

Doing the relic for Native Fortress made me realize how much i hate the hitboxes and level design of the stage. What is with that bullshit fire particles giant hitbox? Crash 2 has this problem as well. It just lingers so long that you get hit.

I dont see any reason for me to get platinum relics when the game is already this absurd.

Crash 2 and 3 on the other hand are far more rewarding to speedrun considering the run button exists.

It's funny seeing all these people rage about Crash. Modern games have spoiled us with all the hand holding and automated jumps.
As someone who played very little of Crash back in the day, I don't think this is a fair statement. Crash 1 is just not a well balanced game. There's no real difficulty curve, it's all over the place. There is no reason why a level like Native Fortress should be in the first world. It really feels like it's missing a layer of polish you'd usually get from playtesting.

Meanwhile, the balance and polish in Crash 2 compared to Crash 1 is immediately apparent. The game actually does a good job of easing you in before getting to the tough stuff.

I don't think complaints of Crash 1 being hard are because modern games are babies or whatever. It IS hard. It kinda just throws you into the deep end of the pool without any warning, which honestly is sloppy design. I'm still enjoying Crash 1 enough, but 2 and 3 clearly had more polish and playtesting.

I can see loading times being an issue for people attempting colored gem runs (where they have to quit out of the level and get back in if they die), but otherwise 8 seconds to load into a level, with instantaneous reload upon death from checkpoint or the start during a normal or relic run really isn't much of an issue at all. (DF showed it was about 8 seconds per level as well, stock harddrive).

Still, VV should've put a restart level option in for regular non-time trial runs. And that initial game selection screen really should not take much time loading at all honestly.

Aside from Cold Hard Crash having far too many boxes with asshole placement id say 2 is perfect difficulty wise.

The camera issues when you walk backwards also ruin the experience but that can be said for all 3 games.

Just did no deaths and all crates on Slippery Climb, didn't even die in the bonus stage. Felt like a robot, everything just worked. Uploading video now

The load times themselves aren't bad. It's rather the amount of them we have which is the problem.

- Starting the game (I'm not sure if Activision and Vicarious Visions logos can be skipped)
- Loading the main menu
- Loading the hub world
- Loading a level
- Finishing or exiting or restarting after running out of lives.

They really stack up eventually.

Native Fortress is ruining Crash 1 for me. I have been trying to beat it literally all day. Bullshit frame perfect jumps, poor collision detection, and a terrible high jump mechanic (what dolt thought hold down x to jump higher was a good idea?) make this extremely frustrating. Most of my deaths feel cheap and out of my control. Not having fun TBH.

i made it to the the third island and i would say thats the most bs level in the game so far.

It is hard but stick with it and youll get it lol I feel this stage is what seperates those that do from those that cant.

It took me literally 32 lives to finally pass it for the reasons you list. Definitely felt better after passing it but im afraid to tell you that harder ones are ahead lol

THIS FUCKING 3 FLAME JUMP!

Was the timing that fucked in the original?

It's bugged. From years of playing the originals, the flames' hitbox is wrong. You should be able to pass even if the first warning flare goes off, but the hitbox comes even before the proper flame rises. Because of that, by the time you jump off the flame platform as it does a warning flare, you are going to die from the early hitbox. There is a platform if you hold up on the middle flame that you can use to stand above the flames.

I forgot all about the motorcycle levels in Crash Warped. The turning is awful! Still better driving than FFXV.

Edit: Forgot what I said, FFXV driving is Ocarina of Time Quality compared to this crap.

Just finished playing through Warped with my best friend, what a great nostalgia trip. We had a blast.

Gonna work on 100%ing all three games over time for a nice challenge.

So impressed by this collection. Now if they'd only give the greenlight to VV doing a Spyro trilogy...

The checkpoint being so far into Slippery Climb is a blessing in disguise when you attempt the gem, since you won't have to manually quit the level if you die for the majority of the level until you reach it.

I know you're frustrated, but this is literally how the vast majority of platformers work

There aren't really any tricks to get around this level until the final stretch, so try to take your time and pay attention to the timing and patterns of the enemies and hazards. More generally speaking, I found it helpful to mentally break levels down into sets of obstacles, and focus on overcoming them chunk by chunk. It's like learning a combo in a fighting game.

I died so much in Slippery Climb the moved the checkpoint to the beginning

Just when you think you have reach maximum fuck everything on Crash 1...

Then you reach Road to Nowhere..

Fuuuuuuuuuyyckkkkkkk everything about tbis level

Got to Road to Nowhere and decided that, at least temporarily, I am giving up on Crash 1. There have been at least three levels that I've played 15+ times, and I got to the point that I wasn't actually enjoying playing.

Look, platformers are my favorite genre, and while I don't consider myself a master by any means, I am very good at them. But these levels are just ludicrous. They make DKC Tropical Freeze look like child's play.

Played past the first boss on Crash 2 and it just feels so much better.

Just beat Crash 1. Honestly the only levels I actually have complaints with are Road to Nowhere and High Road. I enjoyed everything else quite a bit, even the much maligned Slippery Climb. Hell, I found Slippery Climb downright enjoyable and beat it on my 6th try, it was tough but it at least felt satisfying to play unlike High Road. GRANTED, I do understand part of why people hate Slippery Climb, the context of the original game's save system making it into a soul crushing gauntlet after an already soul crushing level. But yeah, I had a great time with Crash 1. This was my first time ever playing it, somehow we had a PS1 but never got any of the Crash games, so it was nice getting to finally experience it.

I'd love to shoot for the platinum trophy but I don't think I could manage that, just because damn the relics are gonna be hard to get. I will definitely go for all the gems eventually. Gonna move on to Crash 2 for now though, knowing that it's supposed to be significantly better than 1 makes me pretty excited considering how much I enjoyed 1.

Attempting the rope trick in Road To Nowhere and I'm dying from that probably the near same amount as attempting the level straight on.

The lanes which have two boards between the falls I do straight on but the ones with hogs and single boards I attempt the rope. But Crash has this bad habit of either jumping very short (and it's in the upper part of that short one I must hit the rope with) or he jumps a meter forward. Currently I'm waiting near the top of my jump before pressing sideways.

When going for coloured gems in Crash 1, if you die before getting any checkpoints do you still need to quit the level and retry? Or does respawning at the start count as a fresh attempt?

Question about the hogs on Road to Nowhere:
How do you take them out without using a mask?
I remove the boards but these things fly straight over.
