Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

When I think of Crash 1 I always think of struggling with those bouncy barrels on Toxic Waste as a kid, didn't even get me once this time, easy colored gem.

On Lights Out, no matter what I do the light from Aku Aku always disappears at the last section just as I jump into the area with the rats before the pendulum blades, don't remember that, am I being too slow or something?
I'm having this exact issue. I can still see Aku Aku which makes it even weirder - there just isn't any light after the rats.

I think it's a glitch, since it looks weird with the steam etc still being lit, and this video doesn't have the same problem.

Edit: Just completed the level. It's a time limit as you said. I managed to complete the section before faster after picking up Aku Aku and the final few jumps were still lit. It really should be clearer about that though, especially since Aku Aku still follows you and makes it look like the way forward should be lit.

Anybody know how to collect lifes the fastest way in Crash 1?

Castle Machinery if you have the coloured gem that works within that level. If you do, there is an elevator right at the start that takes you to about 25 lives and the exit. Literally couldn't be quicker. Then save, quit to the main menu and repeat.

I hate trying to get the Clear Gem from a level only to find out I still don't have the necessary Color Gem for it... There should be something telling you you need it.

Someone has brought it up before, but in Lost City, if you get right out of reach from the bats and spin, they supply infinite Wumpa Fruit. It takes a while from nothing, but it's a consistent way to get 99 Lives. I'm not sure if it's the absolute fastest though.

Wow, that sounds way better! Still haven't attempted the color gems yet.

Don't even need to quit to the menu. Just reload the save immediately.

Road to Nowhere is definitely hard of you haven't played it before. It's tough even if you have. But it's Childs plays compared to High Road.

Native Fortress isn't that bad either, until the final bit where I admit I died a few times. But there are much harder levels. It's good training for sunset and slippery climb.

It's really nice to see a lot of people going through the rite of passage of Crash 1 though. As a kid everyone said it was easy whereas I was like wut. It's tough but reasonable. It's just it hasn't aged properly like the next two games.

Best wishes.

Holy shit. Now I'm tempted to play Crash 1 just to feel the satisfaction of seeing all those lives in front of me lol.

Still no small feat, congrats! I haven't gotten to The High Road or Fumbling in the Dark yet. Not looking forward to it :(

As far as the ropes go, I still haven't gotten it down. I swore I'd abuse them for Road to Nowhere, but found it easier to just clear normally by the end. Every time I swing for the ropes, I just die trying.

Thanks. My trick was getting up against the ropes before jumping on them. Its easier to jump on the rope when you're starting from the same distance each time.

Everything else past High Road is easy compared to that. Some janky stuff here and there but not the same brand of mad precision you have to navigate on the bridge levels. =)

Dammit.... 1:15:30 was the best time I could do after 45 minute of trying (need 1:13). Screwed up on the last jump and had to bounce thrice on that last turtle.

I got Native Fortress and Sunset Vista already, so I just need to get past this...

Edit: Got it. Yuussss. I guess a gold isn't that impressive but I'm happy.

Congrats! The rest is smooth sailing, even Slippery Climb is far easier in comparison. =)

And Gold in-game will lead to a Platinum Trophy that is the only thing people will see. =D

This is an amazing remaster, but I don't like Cortex's voice as much. New dude doesn't do a bad job at all, but I remember the original being a lot more menacing. In Crash 2 after beating N. Gin and Cortex contacting you saying "Bring the crystals to ME". I was kind of flat here.

YES!!! Gold relic in high road. I don't want to see this level for a long time lol

I dont think anybody can beat Clancy Brown as the original cortex. The presentation in general is lacking polish.

The cutscenes in crash 2 dont dim the lights and the static effect is barely noticeable.

Not to mention they cut random dialogue like the end lines for N.Gin and Dingodile.

After dozens of deaths on Road to Nowhere, I get to the bonus room portal... Only to fall down trying to step on it and get a game over.

I literally felt my blood pressure shoot up. FML Im going to the gym I need a break.

Ohh wow, 25! Now that's what I'm talking about. Thank you!
I haven't started collecting the coloured gems yet. I think the one in Castle Machinery request the green one I believe. I'll start collecting right away.

I'll use the one theaface provided for me. Thanks for tip tho!

If you want to get easy lives without colored gems (not as good but still decent), The Lost City right at the beginning has 3 lives. Grab em, quit. Load autosave back up, repeat.

My partner just completed Native Fortress and frankly done a better job than I could. I'm the end the triple fire jump was actually not even close to the worst bit.

I don't think it's necessarily lacking in polish, it's just...different. in the original Crash 2 those holo messages from Cortex always brought a strange mini-sense of dread to them and just kind of felt dark and weird. It was cool. Here they just feel... I guess cleaner? And because of that they lose a little bit of that dark feeling the original had. I still think it's well done though. But yeah, old Cortex VA was better.

Ahh dang it sucks there's no HDR support, would've looked damn good... it still looks great though, would be cool to add that in a patch

You can forget High Road, Road to Nowhere and Native Fortress.

The REAL worst feeling in Crash 1 is getting to the end of a level, even after all bonus stages and the gem route, and having 1 box left.

WHERE ARE YOU, BOX?!?

Patch wishlist in no particular order:

-Restart level option (that resets status for colored gem runs)
-make intro screen skippable if there is an existing game save
-reduce load times (that game selection screen really should not be taking extra time to load)
-HDR

Yea so I need one more gold relic for the plat in Crash 1, but its on "The High Road". Feel like all my previous work was done for nothing. I cant even get the sapphire on this level the few times I actually beat it

I just got to the first Machinery stage. How is the factory in general? Pretty easy area all-in-all?

The factory is pretty easy outside of the Cortex Power gem. The game is giving you a break before throwing things like The High Road and Slippery Climb at you.

Was it Jaws of Darkness? There's a box in the blue gem path that is hidden off screen.

Reading this thread is hilarious. I can't remember the last time a game produced so much frustration from its difficulty. I think most of us jumped into this game wanting to enjoy some nostalgia, and what we're actually getting is physically beaten to a pulp.

Is it really that hard?

I remember getting 100% on Crash 1 on the PS1, but then again I've become a filthy casual since then. Maybe it's gonna kick my ass now.

The Lab Gem get! Lights Out and Slippery Slope left. I don't really know how the fuck I'm going to finish Slippery Slope without dying...

Question: How are the vehicle levels in the trilogy? Are there any in Crash 2? What kinds are there?

I only ever played WoC and was always a fan of those.

Crash 2 has jetpack stages and they're fine. Crash 3 has jet ski stages, plane stages, motorcycle stages, and the underwater stages have submarine sections. There are also the animal riding stages that are present in all three games.

They are all fun aside from the motorcycle stages IMO.

Okay playing Crash 2 now and it is far more enjoyable that Crash 1.

Crash 1 has some great platforming challenges but the controls and hitboxes aren't polished enough to make some of the later levels something to look forward to.

Crash 2 and 3 is where you can see they know what they're doing and have splashed out into lots of variety in obstacles, environments and gem challenges.

And of course the remaster has added something TRULY special: much more Coco! =D

Here comes high road

You have reached the peak of Crash 1 difficulty. Best of luck!
