Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

Sure there's a few annoyances (Cold Hard Crash and Piston it Away spring to mind) but getting all of the gems in it is a breeze in comparison to 1. I can;t speak on the platinum relics yet though. I'm waiting to get the running shoes before attempting them in 2.

You would ideally have a stage early on that focuses almost exclusively on these types of platforming challenges. By the end of it the player should have the knowledge necessary to tackle any timing challenges later in the game.

Platinum Relics are fairly strict. Golds just require a clean run through basically. Like, you have time to wait for the pair of wooden crushers to reset on Snow Go for example.

Finished Crash 1 last night. (not 100%, might try that after I've finished all three games).

Bring on Crash 2 tonight.

Native fortress, road to nowhere and slippery climb can all GAGF.

Welp. First game over in Crash 2 - Bear It.

Why are all the hitboxes fucked except the polar bear?
Why am I missing these fucking boxes?
Why does the camera keep getting me killed?
Why is this level SO LONG JUST END JESUS

EDIT: Done. But for a moment this was all I was getting.

Goddamn Native Fortress. I can't remember it being that hard in the OG game? Also, iw it just me or does the jumping in Crash 1 seem kinda borked? Like Crash's jump distance has been shortened or something?

Is coco better than crash in any way? Almost every video for speed runs I see is always her. Or is it the newness factor?

Maybe they're doing what I'm doing: Crash for main play through, Coco for mopping up gems and relics.

Certainly helps that she's adorable.

Haven't played the original in a long time so I can't say, but a good tip for all three remastered games is to generally jump late instead of early. It's worked for me pretty well.

Always mind your surroundings.

this isn't a car

Ahhh been a long time since I've played a straight up platformer and far longer that for a Crash game. Pretty solid so far and the difficulty is ramping up pretty quickly as I'm not even off the starting island but beat the first boss who was really easy.

I just realized that Vicarious Visions already made their own CB games, they were responsible for the three GBA games and Nitro Kart. Huh.

Those were all fairly decent actually

I beat Crash 1 for the first time ever last night. Started Crash 2 today, a game I actually have nostalgia for.

Is it just me or is it harder to judge the edge of a ledge in this version? I find myself missing a lot more jumps than I used to in the PS1 versions.

Just beat crash 1. Pretty solid game! It does feel some what bland at times (which surprised me given the designs). I had trouble grasping the 3d jump space but it was mostly fine. Some annoying hit boxes though.

Excited to get to crash 2/3 since I liked this game well enough and those are supposed to be better.

Instead of getting the plat in Warped, I actually want to play Twinsanity via emulator. That game was so great as far as I remember.

Yeah, jumping is ass in the first game. Thankfully it's dramatically improved in the other games.

When I think of Crash 1 I always think of struggling with those bouncy barrels on Toxic Waste as a kid, didn't even get me once this time, easy colored gem.

I'm the opposite. Used to ace that level in the PS1 version, now I just can't do it without sheer dumb luck meaning that Blue Gem is out of reach for now.

I fucking lost 30+ lives on High Road ALONE!

I never accept to lose this much lives. I will probably load the save and try again :P

DarksydePhil is currently playing Crash 3 on Twitch. As expected, he's terrible and it's all the PS4 controller's fault.

YES. Will watch it for sure.

Can you still run along the handrail on the High Road stage in Crash 1? Seeing a lot of people getting stuck there

I dunno if it's harder than the original game or not, but yes you can do it.

Anyone think Native Fortress should be patched? I've been trying to beat it for 2 days and can't. This isn't a matter of 'git gud' the level design is horrendous. Lots of cheap trap deaths and it's ridiculously long. Also pisses me off that the fire burns you even if you jump over it. Literally no collision on screen but results in a death.

I understand that Native Fortress has its quirks, but that seems like quite a while. If you were able to clip or stream where you're getting got exactly I'm sure many of us would be willing to help you out. Or you could just describe the portions in detail, I guess.

I wouldn't expect a patch, it's no different to the original at the moment.

I guess they could change the fire animation to make the killzones a bit more obvious, but even then I'd be surprised if they change the timings.

All they need to do is patch in more helpful hints, namely the platform after the second flower. Maybe some more pity checkpoints.

The High Road is a terrible level. I don't like that rope bridge level theme generally but the whole turtle jumping thing is aesthetically repugnant and feels like it belongs in some kind of super-hard level pack or fan hack rather than the first installment of a new IP. I've heard in this thread they didn't really playtest Crash 1 - well most of the game comes across reasonably well bearing that in mind but here it's just, like, fuck you, you knew, you knew what you were making here, don't pretend otherwise.
