Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

AFAIK slidespinning is basically as fast as sprint and probably the main reason why it was included in 2 and not 1.

Sprint can outrun the chase levels in crash 2.

So no its very much necessary if you want gold/platinum relics. It also improves the distance you get with super jumps.

That last window exit in Slippery Climb keeps screwing me over. I step back on the platform but with not enough footing, so Crash falls... Fuck this level, seriously.

I really hate crusher blocks that hurt you by simply coming into contact with them, rather tham actually crushing you

Also I think Coco's ponytail has a hurtbox

Edit: And I finally got Snow Biz' box gem after half an hour of dying in that hidden crusher section, I'm going to despise Cold Hard Crash's one, that's for sure
About as annoying as playing as Coco on the water levels in Crash 1 and jumping through the lily pads to your death. I mean, you landed on it girl how did that kill you omg. It even shows the lily pad giving way because reasons.

Arg!

I finished Crash 1 with all the gems and enjoyed it to death, but does the game seem blurry in motion for anyone else? The IQ is magnificent when I'm standing still, but (on "2D" stages) the second I start moving and focusing on the character, everything kind of slurs together to the point where it started to hurt my eyes a bit. This was most prevalent on The Lost City but appeared in a number of other stages. I think it's more than just motion blur, as I've never had a problem with it before. I haven't played 2 or 3, so I don't know if what I'm talking about persists to those.

I found short hopping to be a lot more reliable.

The Turtle Woods time trial is kinda BS. The camera doesn't follow you very well when you skip the mole pits and it leads to some blind jumps. Oh well, my run was sloppy but I still got a platinum.

Have you got a TV with either motion interpolation (Is it rated something silly like 200/240hz or whatever?) Or has a function like resolution upscaling built in? Both can cause edge artifacts on motion also as while the game does have motion blur it's nothing that bad.

Or your TV could be bad at handling motion full stop? :(

Great, now the last segment (I think) of The Lost City is doing me in.

And I thought Native Fortress was brutal but augh.

Time for sleep and work to keep me away from this game but I'll be heading back...

Overthinking is thy enemy.

I've found that if you're dying repeatedly, it's good to just take a break and come back to it later.

man all you guys get mad over the first game, guess i should be glad i was able to beat the first game without getting a game over

I'm getting farther without dying each time but man, this new obstacle they added just threw me completely off and I had just had it for the night.

Also the game over screen is so evil and cruel. That thing could give kids nightmares. Jesus.

Holy crap Native Fortress relic... I am not sure I could pull off that run again if I wanted, gold is good enough for me

Can't tell if I want to get it Digital right now or wait a few days and have it come from Amazon.

Edit: Is Amazon out of stock?? It's telling me I should expect it in AUGUST

Crash 3 as mentioned many times before suffers a bunch from the gimmick levels. Like, I don't hate them but there are just too much. There are 4 motorcycle levels, they could easily have replaced 1 or 2 with traditional levels. Same thing with Jet Ski tho I think they fit in much better than bike or plane levels. Speaking of plane levels, even tho there are only 2 (+1 special) they could have cut one of them, there is no point in repeating it.

But I totally get why they did it. If you put in time to develop such a radically different style of level, of course you wanna put it in as much as possible.

I actually enjoyed the gimmick levels as a kid. Nowadays, not so much because the controls really don't hold up for the bike or plane levels. Coco's jet-ski levels are still great, with a lot of open space.

I feel like Naughty Dog ended Crash on a good note. They could tell they were hitting their ceiling with regards to new ideas for Crash and would rather work on something else that won't involve Universal.

I felt the gimmicks more in Spyro 3 in comparison. Still fun, but again, a lot of random skateboard or mini-games and other playable characters. Both franchises just doubled down on those aspects instead of game design, which is what ended up killing them unfortunately.

Best wishes.

I bulldozed through 1 and 2 to get to 3, but now I want to go back and plat 1 and 2 first....dangit. Ah well, I've already gone back to 1 and started working on Trials and Relics. It's better this way.

Yeah Amazon has run out of physical copies 3 times now.

1-2 month wait time it says.

Beat Crash 3. Took me like a year when I was a kid. So many feels, but boy have the vehicle levels aged poorly (I loved them as a kid, not so much now) On to Crash 2!

I finally got all the gems in Crash 1 and have redeemed my younger self! To be honest, the last few gems were quite easy, even on the High Road. I suppose, death after death has forged me into a Crash warrior!

Although, after moving on the Crash 2, the mechanics threw me off a bit and I died several times on Snow Go and Hang Eight. Oh well, at least I get a change of scenery.

I've got the GAF standard KS8000, no auto motion plus or anything like that. It's running on a Pro so upscaling shouldn't be an issue. Maybe my eyes were just having an off day...

Lost City is some goddamned bullshit. I genuinely enjoy the difficult platforming, but getting through that level with all the boxes and then being told I ALSO have to no-death run it to get the colored gem is infuriating! And I was just starting to feel good about getting clear gems and all.

Fuck!!!

Got to ending credits on all three, and I don't think I'm going to go for 100%. I had fun going down memory lane, yet I doubt I'll play again. My favorite is still 3, much more variety.

Oh well I guess. Not a fan of the boxart anyways. I can't even guarantee I still have my case for crash 2. It is probably stuck in a box somewhere and that is where I would have wanted to put it.

Okay, there needs to be a graphic on the pause screen that points out that the touchpad will, without confirmation, quit whatever you're in (paused in a level goes back to the level select and paused on level select goes to the title). This is kind of a wild thing to not even confirm.

He even briefly talked about the level at this year's E3 lol.
Needs a Photoshop with "sadistic bastard" or similar.

just bought this game

is crash 1 worth a playthrough? is it as hard and frustrating as some people are making it out to be?
Yes, yes.
Crash 1 is hard as all hell. Holy hell

I actually spent an hour on Native Fortress
In all honesty that wasn't as evil as expected, for my partner, not me I sucked.
Fuck you Ripper Roo!

GOOD RIDDANCE.

I made it harder than I had to but fuck, I had box collision detection issues on that.
Ripper Roo is balls hard until you realise his dirty secret. Then all danger is removed and it's actually too easy.

Has anyone coined the term GIT CRASH BANDIGUD?

No?

GIT CRASH BANDIGUD
No, because it's fucking awful, god.

Yep, but I don't think we're supposed to talk about it in this thread (it's a direct result of the frame rate). It's the same reason many found Sonic Generations to be blurry in the 2D sections on console.

Finally, I can crouch and slide jump

Yeah, there are some wonky hitboxes. But the ice physics seem kinda fucked up too, it's really thrown me off.

I'm also calling bullshit on the porcupines being unkillable with their spines up :V

I suck at this game.

Native Fortress took me well over an hour. idk what it was about the three fire pit sequence but I could not jump to the ledge.

Made it to Ripper Roo and called it a day.

This had me stuck for a good hour as well

I finally got the timing down to a science when I realized you have to start your jump towards that first flame while it is still going--landing on it just as it goes out gives you enough time to make it across the next two before they begin again

Fuck that level

Getting the Lost City gem feeling = beating the final boss of Bloodborne Old Hunters feeling.

Can't wait to have my ass handed to me on later levels of Crash 1 though.

Man. People seem to be loving this. Worth picking up?

Absolutely.

Coming from someone who didn't think I'd enjoy the classic crash formula anymore--dated 90s platformer etc etc--the game has been recreated beautifully, and the play holds up better than I ever thought it did--hard Ass crash 1 included

It's priced perfectly too

I honestly didn't have any trouble with Ripper Roo. He has a set pattern that is pretty easy to follow. I still died once or twice though.
