Am girl:
I don't care when girls are wearing shorts or sports bras. I get that, *I* have that when I work out.
I just hate gratuitous ass and cleavage shots and the horny cameraman that likes circling women's bodies while men parade around like "it's just part of it". It's not. Tits and ass shots are so goddamn ingrained into the whole thing that we barely notice it when it's there in unfair amounts and get super defensive when someone says something about it.
But no one would care what a woman would think about her own gender's objectification; and it's threads like this where I'm told a million times over that women (or people who support them) are the ones in the wrong about this by guys who just won't fess up and say they really really like sexy women and (clearly) ONLY want their game women to be sexy.
Aren't us girls lucky that we have a pretty great bar for that:
Oh.... oh my....
Aww shame the camera doesn't pan around Ryu's ass to get a more dramatic fireball shot.
Damn that's some difference in dramatic camerawork.
If Im cherry-picking by picking the obvious "bad lookers", then consider how many "unique looking women" (daresay with a strange joke/gimmick/style to their appearance like Abigail, Rufus, Dee Jay even) there are compared to men in these games.
The women are gratuitous and have sex appeal in common waaaay before any any other visual gimmick (like Abigail's mass, E Honda's weight, Sagat's height, Blanca's...green?). The ladies are lovely, just very much the same even with the lengths taken with the male cast.
Yes, these SF women, though an admirable representation of muscle mass, still adhere to a pretty strict and sexualized mould.
