Hollow Knight |OT| Cute Insects That Just Want to Burrow Into Your Heart

Assume there hasn't been any further information/announcements on the PS4 version has there? Last I saw this version mention was in March just stating 'later this year'.

BIG Area Spoiler, somewhat related to the above spoiler
White Palace is a neat idea, but it needed one more Bench near the end I feel. I also feel like the game needs a Defense Up item.
Hiveblood is basically a defense-up item, especially on platforming sections. You can just wait the extra few seconds to regen before proceeding.

If you get past that part though, you're smooth sailing. Definitely the hardest phase. Boss of Trial of the fools is a joke.
There's a charm that doubles your healing speed. It's good for tricky battles where you don't have time to use the normal-speed focus.

Already beat it!

100% is done.

Interesting.

Well, I've beaten every Boss except the final one I think
2433 Essence in total,
which is odd.
So I think I'll go beat the game and then decide if I want 100% or not.
I still need to figure out who this Mr. Mushroom is.

some easter egg and doesn't matter for 100%

Looking forward to the weekend to put in some more hours in to this. Getting close to the end now. Hopefully that content patch hits soon.

Btw, saw some cool mods:
1. Save Anywhere
2. No UI / Screenshot mod

Haven't tested them, but man if that save anywhere works, I'll be so happy!

Edit: Tested them on GOG, and they do not work. The logo screen is all messed up. They might work on Steam though, and the dev did say he hasn't tested on GOG.

A longshot, but anyone here with some further info, more specific than "July", on when Hidden Dreams will be released? Is there going to be more DLC? I read something about a "Hornet DLC", anyone having some details on that?

Great review! And holy shit, I didn't make the connection between the lake and the city. :|

On a related note, if you talk to Quirrel in the city, he says
he wants to one day see where all the water comes from. The final time you can see him, he's sitting by the lake.

This game is amazing. I literally gasped in excitement when I caught a glimpse of
Hornet again
at the Fungal Wastes. This game has the best wall jump, feels so good.

So i finally caved and started playing again.
Decided to start from the beginning, since on my save file i'd just killed
Soul master
and would have been completely lost.

This time in the Greenpath i went through this dark area, i assumed was meant to be done later previously.
Is this how your meant to do it?

Anyway game is still as beautiful and charming as ever.

The shopkeeper sells a lamp for dark areas.

I'm stuck at the White Palace.I'm getting to the same spot without taking damage but once there I can't bounce from anything and I have no idea how to progress. Relying too much on pogoing my way through this place seems to finally have taken its toll.

What spot exactly and have you gone to the hive yet?

It was this spot. After taking a break I realized there are some spots without spikes so it was just a matter of timing the dashes. Soon after that I beat the Palace.

About the hive, no, I haven't been there, didn't even know it existed. This game is stupidly huge, it feels like I'm close to finish it but I still find new areas.

Yeah, that one seemed really impossible when I got to it, but it was relatively straightforward after that.

There's an item from the hive that would be useful there.

Also, this is a bit of a spoiler regarding the item you just completed, but I wish I had known this beforehand:

Wait until you've got all the challenges out of the way before you go to the place mentioned in that new item's description.

Stayed up till 6am playing the game.
After visiting the
Mantis village
, i somehow ended up not going the route i took in my previous save, instead i ended up having a super awesome boss fight
Mantis Lords
and made my way through the next area. Exploring here took a while, and when i eventually decided it was time to stop playing, i was resting at a bench thinking
What the fuck actually are these cult looking bugs?
......welp there was another hour of struggle.

Amazing experience so far.

I have really enjoyed my time with this game thus far. The design is wonderful. It's full of charm and is a lush fleshed out world.. Characters are unique and engaging. I love hearing somebody nearby and trying to find them like the cartographer. Such a neat game, def my GotY.

I'm at the final boss and I give up, it's impossible. I had occasional problems where my pad would stop responding during all the game but in this battle it happens way too often. Seeing how I cannot avoid some attacks because the pad won't respond It's frustrating. And it's not a problem of the pad being broken, this is happening with three different pads.

Just finished this amazing game. This game wasn't on my radar but for some reason I decided to pick it up and man! So happy I stumbled across it.

From art to gameplay, everything in Hollow Knight was great. Its difficulty was perfect, had some really challenging parts, but I always could see MY mistakes and learn from them.

The world and atmosphere was really powerful. Over the course of this game I watched my 1 and a half year old cat (Willow) fight a rough fight with some sort of infection.Willow was sitting on my pc through the first half of my playtime, watching me play.
Unfortunately she didn't make it for the second half. Me and my partner had to put her down, which sucked but this game helped me process that in a healthy way.

Hollow Knight has found a place on my top video games list, somewhere. And to Team Cherry Games, I'll have my eye on whatever you guys put out in the future!

Im around 28 hours in with 79% completion, if I can I plan on jumping back in and finishing some things off in the future. Do we know if there will be another free content update?

Also final boss question:
Was the final boss easier than most others?
I didn't work up the courage to complete any of the "Soul" bosses, they were REAL hard but I defeated the final boss on my first try. Felt real satisfying!

Warning; this is a big spoiler

Hollow Knight is not the true final boss

You need to do specific quests and gather some items to get the true ending, which involves fighting the true last boss, and he's super hard - I personally have not been able to beat him.

If you actually beat the true boss on your first try then I salute you.

Got this in the steam summer sale and really enjoy it. The bosses so far are good and each of their attacks can be avoided once you learn them.

I'm in the crystal mines and it has one of my most annoying things in games. Those Fecking stamper things you need to dash past. Hate them!

I'm a bit stubborn, so I kept trying and trying until I beat
the Radiance
and by extension the game. I didn't get 100% nor will I do it, I'm not the completionist type; I leave the game at 32 and a half hours with 86% completion.

I'm really impressed with what Team Cherry pulled off, in every aspect of the game, it was simply amazing, even with the sometimes unresponsive controls, which is actually my only complain. It could be solved deactivating the vsync, but then the fps rocketed and I feared for the GPU, so I had to suffer them.

Damn..it's getting hard to wait but I'm holding out for the Switch version. Really looking forward to this as some people put this game above Ori--which is one of my favorite games of all time.

Yeah. Wonder when it will hit? Alongside the DLC in July?

Got all endings during the weekend, 95%, 45 hours on record. Save 100% for the DLC. Damn this game was amazing, felt I let the devs down not supporting their Kickstarter. More thoughts in my Steam review.

Do we know if this game will get anymore DLC content? Whether it be free like the last content update or paid?

We're still waiting for Free Content Pack #01 (out later this month). Since they go out of their way to label the first one as free, I imagine the rest will be as well.

I have 75% completion. I can't seem to get past the black energy walls. Any tips? I have beat the game and beat H
ornet the second time obtaining King item

I keep collecting journals and rancid eggs and such items. How many are there?

I'm getting roughed up a bit by the 3rd coliseum. The latter stage with the s
pikes and flying enemies
is pretty rough on me.

I have delivered the flower.

Happy singing Miner NPC
went hollow and I killed her :(

I'm missing 2 Pale Ores and apparently a shit ton of charms. I only just unlocked the ability to purchase blessing item.

Hollow Knight "Hidden Dreams" update coming Aug 3.

You have to go to the
bottom most area (The Abyss which is below the Ancient Basin), and then go to the right most area to pick up the Shade Cloak. That will allow you to go through the black barricades.

Yes! I still don't know how I'm missing an entire 25% but hopefully this allows me to get the rest of it. Thanks!

Now I just need to remember where those barriers are in the areas I've explored on the maps. O_O;

I'd imagine a lot of the completion % is working towards the
true ending
since during that you'll do a lot of stuff you would otherwise miss in a normal playthrough.

So I just started HK yesterday evening and played for about an hour, and I'm just not feeling it. I got the map, and i got the quill, but I don't know...I just feel lost and don't really know what my purpose is. I'm just wondering around tunnels. Is this the whole game?

I REALLY want to like this game, I really enjoy metroidvania games...please GAF, tell me what I'm doing wrong.
