I'm not the one saying I would get banned and I feel like a physical copy still doesn't work behind that midnight unlock patch or update or whatever they called it.

Yeah, I don't think you could even play D2 offline, but tgat wouldn't stop people from trying, lol

Two awesome, badass DGAF farewell raids today <3

Imma call this the "wait are we doing challenge mode" FK raid, alternatively the "so you know half of that was spent on the warpriest right" or the "Gibb has to get to the mechanic, soooo" KF raid.

Bizarrely enough we had no trouble with the jumping puzzles at all XD

Thanks Pandora, GibbShift, Azolith, Nico, and WeTeHa for a hilarious and fun farewell to a raid I always liked more than most around here, and the one that was the most stunning of the four to me the first time through.

EVERY conceivable thing went wrong for the Crota fight...

First round Swordbearer played hard to get and went to California before we killed him, so the run back holding the sword used too much time to kill him in one cycle...

Second cycle the Y1 disappearing sword glitch as one final middle finger from the Son of Oryx. this is the point at which my heartbeat went into overdrive as we hadn't explained the ogre phrase at all yet.

Somehow kept our cool, dodged all the cursed thralls, Gjally'd the ogres, remembered at the last possible second to wait for an extra rotation, spat at the oversoul, and made it happen.

My heart is still pounding right now

Anyone have any good loot stories/random occurances from D1?

Mine is a story I've told a few times. Back in October 2014 I joined up with a few people to do my first Nightfall. I wasn't too familiar with end game activities or gear at that point. They helped me through the Nightfall and I got Hawkmoon on a drop. I was so excited to get an exotic and I wasn't familiar with the gun so it was a great moment, especially with how frustrating loot was back then.

After that we grabbed a few more and I went on my first raid. Once we killed Atheon, I got my second exotic drop of the night. Another Hawkmoon. My fireteam got so mad LOL. One guy actually rage quit. One of them commented that I should be allowed to dual wield them. Hawkmoon became my most used primary in Year 1 and it made my first Nightfall and Raid very memorable.

Mine was in my player/grimoire card thing lnkn did, surprised there wasn't an archive of them linked in the OP. They were really well done

It was about the Hawkmoon drop after chasing it for-fucking-ever. It was the last exotic I needed to have them all, and the one I wanted the most (because Hawkmoon is awesome). It was something like 5AM, we were doing our normal reset day crota raid, and the hawkmoon finally dropped for me. I basically cried tears of joy and woke my wife up... she was super angry at me

For Destiny 3 Bungie should abandon the Warlock class and put their resources into making great beard options.

Discord Announcements

Hey all, just some stuff here about the DGAF Discord to keep in mind in advance of the actual launch. For anyone who doesn't know, Discord is essentially a community chatroom with a bunch of different channels, from fully off-topic stuff to LFG to spoiler territory. It also has voice chat capabilities, which will be extremely handy when the PC version rolls around.

If you would like to join the Discord, there is a link in the OT you can quote to see. Feel free to come check it out!

Notes:

1) While DGAF, as a community offshoot of NeoGAF, doesn't and cannot moderate this thread, the Discord is totally operated by a few of us and is (lightly) moderated by DGAF member mods. There are simple rules which you'll see upon first joining (which are totally non-controversial in my opinion) and of the basic "don't be a dick" nature. Still, especially with a potentially large influx of new/first-time players joining us, please make sure to read them.

2) When you first join you will be directed to the #role-management channel and asked to set a role (XBOX, PS4, PC, or No_LFG_Notifications).These roles enable you to receive notifications from anyone who uses @ that role. Primarily this is useful in the LFG channels to form an immediate fireteam. To prevent push notifications and audible pings, you can right-click and mute the LFG channel(s) you are in, though the notification red number popup will still occur. If you don't wish to see these notifications at all, what you should do is go back to #role_management and ask to have your role removed.

We are trying to avoid people being inundated with notification spam without realizing why when the game comes out. After things die down you can always ask to have the role added again if you want

3) Regarding spoilers: there is a spoiler channel called #d2_spoiler_zone within which you can talk about anything you want without fear. Outside of that channel, please use your best judgment. At least with regard to the story and raid spoilers specifically, let's see if we can make it a week for the Campaign and two weeks for the Raid before we discuss that stuff openly because not everyone will be playing the game at the same pace or starting right at launch, but they still want to be able to come to the community for help or to find groups. Similarly, please use spoiler tags in the OT. A good rule: if you have to wonder whether or not something might be considered a spoiler, just tag/spoiler channel it.

4) Finally, a note on the role of Discord: Discord is used for a high-intensity chatroom, a way to stay connected to DGAF whenever you want (Discord has a full-featured mobile app), a way to find people who are also online at the exact moment you are looking for a group, and memes (whether you wanted them or not. /zavala).

It is not DGAF itself. People who choose not to use the Discord are no less a part of this community, and people who do use it are not a special subset of this community with greater privileges. We are one community and DGAF exists in the connections made between the Guardians reading this, shooting aliens and helping one another; it is not any one platform of communication. For my part, I'll be spending most of my time in the early phases of D2 in this thread.

Concerns have been raised, both tongue-in-cheek and serious, about exclusivity and cliques within the community. I have no patience for any of that. The thing is that we are a gigantic community. Not everyone is gonna get along 100% of the time. And it's worth keeping in mind that what may be easily mistaken for a clique might very well be actual friendship- some of us have known each other for literally 3 years or more now and become quite close. But everyone is welcome, whether it's your first minute here or your 2500th hour of game time.

I don't think we know yet as far as I'm aware. Just the vague "something special" for playing Destiny 1, but even that's account based, not character based. I'm pretty sure it's appearance carryover only.

I'm East Coast US and it says the same on certain Xbox Store pages although at the bottom of those pages it says 9/06/17 as the release date. It's just an error, hopefully it doesn't cause any launch issues.

Thats for the normal/standard edition. I think that will become available on the 20th without the pre-order bonuses.

If you check out the launch edition or special editions its the 6th Sept. I think once the 20th comes around the launch edition will be replaced wtih the standard. I've noticed it quite alot today when ordering.

Central time Gamestop's getting them in at 10:00PM. So I'll get there, grab the game, install, and get my 8 hours before work, drive an hour to work, read Destiny impressions for 8 hours, drive back another hour, grab dinner, walk with the wife, maybe engage in some other conjugal activities, feed the cat, clean its litter box...

But then, then I will get my Destiny time!
