Will this be in that same rapid fire format as their last direct? I liked that, but 45 minutes of it will be exhausting....and wonderful. Keep the games coming! Will probably finish Mario + Rabbids just in time for Metroid and beat that soon before Mario. And then Xenoblade! Just a well timed release of games for Nintendo systems.

I also don't really expect to hear much about their online. Maybe a mention but I assume that will be explained in detail around December.

I still remember the 4chan Direct list rumour tgat DQVII would be shown at E3 2014. That never happened. I dont trust fake lista anymore unless Reggie himself leaked it

Expectations:
-Switch OS update (browser, streaming apps, others, Holiday 2017)
-ARMS /Splat2n updates
-Mario Odyssey trailer
-Skyrim releases on 11.11
-Zelda DLC comes out in December
-Xeno 2 trailer and release date for December 2017 (WW)
-Kirby and Yoshi titles, new infos (coming first half of 2018)
-Fire Emblem Switch re-reveal, brief teaser (2018)
-1 HD collection (Smash DX / Metroid Prime Trilogy / No More Heroes 1-2 / W101 / Bayonetta 1+2) for Summer 2018
-Nindies, old, new, and ports of already released titles
-Project Octopath name + trailer (H1 2018)
-Dragon Quest XI reveal (Japan direct, 2018)
-Monster Hunter X2 reveal (Japan direct, 2018)
-New Ace Attonery reveal (Japan direct, 2018)

-Tekken 7 and Dragon Ball Fighterz get a Switch port
-Some already released western games get Switch ports (Injustice 2, Diablo 3, Plant vs Zombies 2, AC: Ezio Collection, CoD MW, South Park SoT)

/v/ got one of the directs right and someone there leaked the January switch conference

I could believe that, but that doesn't seem like enough information for 45 minutes. Where's the 3DS stuff?

Does anyone think there will be new announcements here bigger than downloadable eShop games? Because i'm a bit skeptical. Seems like this Direct will only serve the purpose of driving up hype for the holiday.

Nintendo Direct usually has a surprise announcement or two. Also, expect some 2018 games here.

4chan has a better record than gaf.

4chan's track record is only good by the metric that so many rumors get posted there. They've been right sometimes but also there's been tons of fakes. And the Switch conference leak was because it was a dude at Gamestop who got early press materials, not because he had knowledge of the actual conference.

I will say that the rumor that was posted sounds really plausible, though, so we'll see.

Expectations:
-Switch OS update (browser, streaming apps, others, Holiday 2017)

-Xeno 2 trailer and release date for November 2017 (WW)

-1 HD collection (Metroid Prime Trilogy or No More Heroes 1-2)

Dude this ain't E3!

If it's nearly 45 minnutes, then they must have a lot to talk about considering the new headlines format. Anyway, looks like Vern was right again.

I wonder if we'll get the ARMS Update launched after the Direct?

Be neat if we get a tease on the next character coming too.

That direct "leak" post is weird. They keep hopping between brief descriptions of what they've seen and copy-paste marketing speak. Seems pretty fake, especially with another Bethesda port before Skyrim comes out. Not that I wouldn't expect FO4 at some point on Switch (if they ever get it better optimized), but they would at least wait until Skyrim launches to announce it.

What are they going to talk about on the direct for so long then?

Xenoblade 2, Zelda DLC, Yoshi and Kirby, updates for Splatoon or even MK8 Deluxe, third-party games and indies... An out-of-left-field announcement for next year like maybe Animal Crossing. There's plenty for them to focus on as the thread has discussed.

Point being, there isn't anything they can stealth-drop in November that's bigger than Mario. The only thing they could conceivably is Smash, but that'd kill Pokken and ARMS' legs and a two-month hype cycle is too short if it's anything more than a regular port (which would be disappointing and wouldn't help the "Wii U portz!" stigma that's dying down but still somewhat around). There's also already lots of third-party games/partnerships they'd want to push during November too. Skyrim, Rocket League, LA Noire, maybe physical version of Minecraft. And a Switch bundle would make sense too.

People get hung up about Odyssey not literally launching during Black Friday week, but for all intents and purposes it is their Black Friday system-selling game. Mario Maker didn't come out in November either but that was pretty much their biggest AAA game in fall 2015.

Prediction

Kirby 3DS
Mario Ody
Bayonetta 1 and 2 & Wonderful 101 (Platinium Collection)
Zelda DLC #2
Xenoblade 2 Release Date
Yoshi Switch
Fire Emblem Warrior
Rabbid Rabbit x Mushroom Kingdom DLC
Arms Update

There's no way I'm buying Skyrim Switch...

But Fallout 4 Switch... I'd have to get it.

if they put the whole damned thing on the cart that is...

Dude this ain't E3!

Well except those that i clearly listed as not happening, is everything else so big or surprising? The direct is during TGS iirc, so some heavy showing of japanese games wouldn't be that much of a stretch, same as 3rd party ports jumping now on the Switch's succesfull train (sure, many of those won't happen, but i still expect some late ports).

Sounds like you've given this more thought than I! Thanks for the explanation!

Personally hope more Wii U ports are coming, even if not this year.

Fallout 4's actually one of the smallest AAA titles to have come out in the past 2 years, at 28.12 GB on PS4, so they might just be willing to put the whole of it on a cartridge.

Oops it's 2018 for FO4.

There's a bunch of online-only games on Switch already.

There are touch screen only games too. I don't know why Overwatch wouldn't come if constant internet connectivity is the only issue.

The main, and really only, reason that would stop it is getting it running at 60 fps with few sacrifices. If word from Blizzard is that it would take too many visual sacrifices to get it going then it's probably not coming.

No Tharja at launch would be a pretty big disappointment. Still, I could honestly see this list happening. Though the lack of 3DS news is a bit suspicious.

They'll start with 3ds, and rapid fire go through it. Say that MH stories is out, and talk about metroid. Then talk about whatever other game or indie is coming for the system this year.

For switch, I can see a arms update, Zelda dlc, rabbids dlc to be covered.

Then we go into the the games, Pokén tournament, fire emblem warriors. These have release dates so you I expect to be quickly covered. Hopefully Skyrim release date.

Lastly, they'll show more new things about odyssey, maybe a new world or feature, and reveal the release date of Xenoblade, where gaf will finally know if it's 2017 or not.

Plus maybe a sprinkle of surprises here and there.

That should cover 45 mins

Yoshi's Flip Side sounds like a real title the same way Mario Odyssey did. Have a feeling this is legit.

Flip Side was basically the tagline from the E3 trailer, so it's not like he guessed it out of nowhere.

I'm pretty sure all they said was they'd have to "revisit performance" which is similar to what the Rocket League devs said back before E3. Not that I think Overwatch is necessarily coming, but I don't think the Switch will have issues running it either due to downgrades or online stuff. The major issue would probably be regarding patches and updates, which could take up a substantial amount of space over time.

Well, the E3 trailer for Yoshi does show him ground pounding to flip the screen...and it says "discover the flip side!" Of course, that doesn't prove it's real.

Yeah the dude easily could've just gleamed the name from this trailer

This rumor is tricky because it seems plausible but also it seems like it's a compilation of stuff that was either already heavily rumored (FO4 Switch) or more information on pre-announced stuff. It could go either way.

That's barely anything for a 45 minute Direct. If these leaks were real they'd have a lot more than that.
I don't believe for a second that this pre-TGS Nintendo Direct will go by without a single new announcement from a JP third party developer.

4chan didn't get the switch conference right. I seem to be the only one on the internet to know that. It was first posted on reddit and then deleted. I guess someone took it and ran with it on 4chan.

I have the screenshots and links that predate the 4chan link.

Not that it matters, still irks me.
