Probably been discussed in other threads, but what about legal implications of being forced to unlock your phone? Seems much easier for the police to shove your phone near your face to unlock it, rather than a password or pressing your finger on a button.
Police can already compel you to unlock with a fingerprint. That's part of the reason why iOS 11 lets you quickly disable Touch ID (and presumably Face ID).

Wait, 1:50000 chance that any random person can unlock my phone via TouchID? Thats kind of bad.

Did they ever use that number when selling TouchID?

Imo: The "home" button animation looks wonky.

Eyes are closed or looking away, its not going to unlock. Looks like passcodes or picking up your phone and looking at it.

I don't think this is better.

The Apple Pay/FaceID thing seems dumb. Maybe I want to think about the purchase for a second and authenticate with a deliberate action before the payment goes through. It's not like you're not going to be looking directly at the phone while using Apple Pay in the first place.

I'm assuming you can turn Face ID off and just have a pass code?

I'm not going to put myself in the situation where someone can unlock my phone by holding it to my face.
