Well that sucked.

I dropped my the local 24 hour Walmart on the way home.
There were two other people waiting for SNES classics.

Should've been a done deal right? Wrong.

The classics never arrived.
Walmart sez they might get them in tomorrow by 7 or 10 am.
Not even fucking worth it at this point.

If I ever get one, great.
If not, eh...it's $80+tax going right back into my pocket.

EDIT: This is in Florida BTW.

I'm royally pissed at Walmart. They didn't do Florida right at all. Texas and Florida should be given extra love. We've been hurricane'd. 😔

With a Best buy in-store pickup, once it switches to "Ready for pickup" does that mean they've picked it and put it aside? A bit afraid of Best Buy selling my preorder since they've done it with games before.

They'll set it aside. In-store pick-up where you prepay for the entire thing is separate from preordering from days past. I remember being told that my preordered GameCube games would be held for 48 hours before they put it out on the racks.

Just received my famicom edition from FNAC! Nice! Now the question is do I try to get in line somewhere tomorrow morning for a US edition at retail so I can refund my ThinkGeek bundle when it shows up or just accept the $60 spent on the tetris lamp and mario cantine and not worry about it?

Reading all of these posts about store (blank) has X # of systems available has me thinking, how did people manage the SNES launch back in 1991 with no internet lol

Didnt do SNES, but i remember the N64 situation. In order to get one for xmas, I just kept calling places asking when they plan on receiving more. Eventually KB toys store had it and i told my Dad, who went and bought it that day.

In those days, you called or risked your luck going to the mall and going in and out of stores who sold videogames.

My Walmart is apparently getting twenty and so far not even that many people are currently lined up waiting. This was a lot easier than I thought it would be, if the numbers are the case (Brickseek listed even more when I put in the SKU).

I just wish my back didn't ache today. I got here around 11pm.

I’m about 15 out of maybe 50 people in this wal-mart. A guy said they didn’t have the system in stock....nobody has left.

People are insisting that they didn’t officially check for the system.

I feel stupid continuing to stand here, but it’s another 15 minutes at this point.

I remember doing that when the Wii came out. I called my local target, toys r us, best buy for weeks.

My Best Buy instore pickup just switched to ready to pickup tomorrow and charged me. Feels good not having to deal with Nintendo scarcity bs this go around.

I lucked into my NES classic in the very last batch at Best Buy too

You also really weren't dealing with scalpers to the degree we are now.

I honestly wonder how many people lining up are actually planning on keeping it for themselves or giving it as a gift.

I had just graduated high school before the SNES launched. I simply went over to my local Electronics Boutique on launch day and bought the system along with Gradius III and F-Zero and went home.

:::Shrugs:::

No fuss no muss. To be quite honest, I don't remember much hubbub and not until the Wii have I recalled ever having problems buying a console on launch day ever.

I’m 13th in line at Walmart in Phoenix, AZ. Any AZ-GAF wanna come join me? There are spots left. Brickseek says this location is getting 24.

The 7am Best Buy thing, are they only passing out tickets? Or allowing people to purchase before store opening too? I have a preorder and if I can pick it up at 7am I will

I'd say that's the vast minority. People are thinking it's going to be Mini-NES all over again. Ebay and Craigslist will be swamped with these.

I am not saying I am not one of those crazies, but woah, people lining up for what is basically a ROM machine that is now 25+ year old games. Smh.

The power of Nostalgia. You have to admit all the games are damn awesome and still hold up till these day. I would have paid $80 just for the re-issued controllers alone.

I so wanna go line up but I don't get paid until midnight. Baaaw. I have no faith in this Walmart preorder of mine, guessing it's backordered. Hope everyone that snags one has a lot of fun, especially if you're introducing kids to the system for the first time!

Walmart I'm waiting at got 34, all spots in line are filled now. Got here at 6:30pm and am #2.

Dude at Walmart just walked by and told people in line we couldn’t sit on the ground because management will think we have a medical issue, and we can’t sit in chairs.

It’s getting real over here!

Yikes. The Walmart I'm at is awesome. They're letting people use chairs from the store, sit on the floor, stand, whatever. Here is a pic of my chair and N3DS, been chilling and playing Dragon Quest VII all night.

Damn I love waiting out for big releases, it's always fun. That was my plan for the snes, with coworkers, but I'm the only one stuck at work lol

This Walmart wants to test our dedication.

Good lord, those ThinkGeek bundles.

Where is the GAFer who got the $250 bundle with the Mega Man helmet?

Crazy. I’m at Meijer and they got 8. Others in line said that Wal Mart only got 8 as well.

If Brickseek is to be believed, why are Targets getting so many of these and everyone else barely getting any? That data Wario64 posted a couple days ago showed many Targets getting over 100.

For any midwesterners scouting Meijer stores, I stopped at one of my local Meijer stores at about 11:30 EST and they only had 14 (and gave out tickets already).

I have one coming in from Target so I'm more in it for the spare SNES controllers, or maybe to get for a co-worker (a bunch of them want one).

I'm more out line scouting to see if I can figure out how bad it is gonna be. Planned on playing Xbox for a while and maybe heading out at 5 or 6am, but depends on what kind of madness it looks to be.

(This is how I ended up waiting outside Target all night for the OG Wii back in the day).

Edit: Meijer 2 also has 14.

Guess what guys, Super Mario World is still a really good game!
Mine came early from Best But today! I had notifications enabled for @Wario64 and ordered right away. Snes was my favorite system because I was the perfect age but I never played all of these games, like Contra 3 or Earthbound, even on emulators, and now I feel like ten year old me really missed out this is some good shit!

Good luck to everyone and I hope those screwed over by WalMart will find one on a shelf one day!

I keep thinking that I'll go to my Best Buy at 6am or whatever and lineup but every time I consider it I remember the HELL that was Best Buy's PS3 launch.

Eleven years later and I still have nightmares.

Some Best Buys are hitting triple digits too. Wal-Marts around here are getting between 24-50. Some targets around me are getting 50, while the ones closer to a college are getting nearly 3x that.
