Definitely hear ya on that Panther. A lot of us do have pretty stacked teams already so we can afford to hoard. My 2 Tidus have got me covered in terms of damage for the forseeable future (and practically forever with as good as his enhancements are)
Though the wife's only decent chaining unit is Yun still, she actually has a ton stockpiled. Looked on hers quick and it's about 250 tickets of varying rarity plus 35k lapis and quite a few old story missions not cleared yet.
Is that step-up thing permanent in JP or is it only for special banners like Sephiroth's? Like, can you do it on the current Star Ocean one too or those type banners?

Unless I missed something from a leak, there's no reason to believe Four Fiends will be limited.
To date, the only limited units have been non-FF collaborations (Brave Frontier, Secret of Mana), or seasonal (Halloween, Christmas). The single exception are the FFXIV units, whose limitation makes sense due to their method of acquisition being from a raid banner.
Doesn't mean they won't be, but. GLEX does not mean limited.

Had another look at all the slides I still had in browser history (which I think was pretty exhaustive, though not necessarily) - nothing about time limitation for anything but the Halloween units.
I know the cynical viewpoint is that Nier was a success and it was time limited so Gumi will make all GLEX banners time limited from here on out because dolla dolla bills y'all, and while that may well be true, I'll need another data point or two before I can ride with it.
While I'm here dispelling potential misconceptions, Cagnazzo is listed as 'Magic Damage / Tank', not 'Magic Damage Tank'. Good odds that he's got some sort of magical mitigation in his kit, if for no other reason than physical tanking is pretty well covered by now? Sure, but I'd still suggest moderating your expectations on his power level vs. Myst..air..ea... monk magic damage tank unit thing, who is a couple months out.
Worst night to have BE maint. Why couldn't it have been a normal week?! Sitting at Walmart until midnight (and have for last hour and half) waiting on SNES classic. BE woulda been great right now.

It looks like JP is getting a Unit of Choice system starting with the anniversary or so. You need 10 tickets to be able to pick one from a list of units. There are 2 for the Mog King event so I guess you get 1 pick every 5 months unless they offer these tickets during raids or story events as well.

Not seeing a lot to get excited about yet but there's still time. Maybe Cagnazzo is going to be our equivalent to metal slime and just be completely indestructible. Kinda hope Barb isn't great because I don't want to feel compelled to go for her.

This week's banner is the Orlandeau revisit, as per leaks. No idea yet if we're getting an event to accompany it.
Should be Ayaka next week. Everyone but PantherLotus should save their lapis this week.
We all might want to go ahead and make peace with the fact that the leaked schedule is very likely to be exactly how things play out over the next couple of months. Due to things like:
- Required gaps between MK events due to turn-in periods
- Story updates having relatively consistent gaps between each other
- Two, possibly multi-week holiday events+banners
There's only so much room for Gumi to maneuver things in some attempt to surprise players from the leaked schedule. They're technically already down a week from the second week of FFXI being dead (was intended to be Kingsglaive). I don't think there's any real value in doing it, so I don't expect it to happen. So...
Orlandeau -> Ayaka -> Four Fiends -> Halloween (New) -> Halloween (Old) seems pretty much locked in to me. If they work out whatever issues they're having with Kingsglaive, they could slot it in after Halloween, or next to the Noctis/Gladio banner.

Banner is a complete skip for me, especially with what's coming. Barbariccia does indeed look awesome, not sure about the rest yet though. Her TM is amazing, but the others are kind of meh. 25% mag and 15% mp, really Rubicante?

- 6* Prishe (main hitter).
- 5* Ashe.
- 5* Firion (whom I'm honestly not liking very much so far...)
- 5* Setzer (I have the worst luck with his Dice. It works like once every 5 times or so)

Does your ACE have his abilities awoken? I found that greatly helped my finishers work. I hate using firion.
With 18k you could pull once on the catch up banner, new units are always helpful, but dont spend it all. As with any Gacha future units will be stronger.
You're in a rough spot because not only do you not have a big chain unit, you also don't have Tilith either. Chain units for the rest of the year (likely):

Nyx
Lorraine
Because you joined too late to have Durandal, you'd have to TM Cecil (Excalibur) to make optimal use of Orlandeau, in addition to requiring other TMs I don't believe you have current access to, like Dual Wield. It really can't be overstated how important DW is, and right now, you have none. That's crippling.
Nyx and Lorraine come with native Dual Wield and Lorraine's TM allows you to bestow DW to another unit. Prishe can't really make use of the modifiers on the TM but she would benefit greatly from the DW component. You'd need to TM Nyx to make optimal use of him via his dagger; Lorraine should be more or less fine out of the box.
In your situation I'd probably recommend passing on the old man and going for Nyx or Lorraine when their banners drop (about a month and change away in all likelihood). As for Ayaka, I'm not sure.
If you blow your stack on Ayaka next week, you still have time to get some resources up before Lorraine, if not Nyx. If you somehow manage to secure Ayaka + chain unit, you're set. I guess I'd probably shoot for Ayaka and then switch to conservation mode.
It's probably a really good idea for you to spend this week going through the story and getting all the lapis you can.
