So pissed off. I see the package was delivered. I come home 2 hours later from work, it's not here. The shit on my porch is all disturbed and no FedEx package. It was like my fucking hobby just tracking one of these things down and now I have nothing. Some jerk probably knew what was in the delivery and was scooping them up. Arrrrgh!
Oh man that’s fucked up man. Hope you’re able to get one when (if) they’re restocked.

Good idea. Please don't pay 150. Nintendo didn't seem to bullshit us for once and stock is actually good. I'll do what I can to help get some and sell here at cost. I already got one extra I sold to a buddy.

Hopefully stock bad in the following weeks, if future waves are anything like this initial one, I see myself getting one by the end of October.

Picked up my preorder from Best Buy after work. There were at least 25 preorders including mine behind the register. Asked the employee if he knew how much they got in stock but he didn't work this morning so had no idea what the stock situation was or how long the line was.

How did people do today getting these? Are there enough out there on GAF who need them that I shoud snag up extras when I see them to help disperse here?

My local Walmart didn't start selling theirs until 8am, and limited them to one per customer.
I walked in at 7:30, and walked out 8:15 with one in hand.

Was late to my college class, but it was with it as this is going to be my son's Christmas present.

We cannot disclose that information before release.

Given that I ordered mine through Amazon...I have to wait. I'm still complaining to them about this bullshit, still sending an email, it's unacceptable. Fuck. Amazon.

My brother however ordered his through Best Buy so I was just over there playing SMW and MMX. From what I see, it's exactly the same as a kid. However one thing that I noticed is that shit, as an adult. I was playing MMX and I couldn't get through Spark Mandrill's stage but the thing is that I didn't have the leg armor so that mid-boss got me. I didn't play much, just a few levels of both games. Overall looked great and I can't wait for my game to come in.

It’s really amazing. These games work so well. I’ve only played most of them through emulation and ever really felt compelled to finish them because of that. This will be the thing that gets me to actually play through SMW, FFVI, Earthbound, LttP, Super Metroid for the first time.

Yep. I have 100% a lot of these games as a kid. Going to be insane doing it again 25+ years later. Super Metroid, Link to the Past etc. All the secrets and hidden stuff still vaguely in my memory. I honestly wish this had 10+ more games with how good the emulation is. Chrono Trigger, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Earthworm Jim, Mortal Kombat II, PilotWings, NBA Jam, instead of SF Turbo we should have got Super SF with T. Hawk and whatnot. It it alao had those games, I would have paid double with how great everything works.

Got one earlier today via the Amazon Truck in Orlando. Was shocked to get the text around noon stating the truck was in town. No line what so ever at the truck location. I was shocked. My only regret was not getting two of them.

Yup tried both, same issue. I cant do any specials at all :(

Edit: figured it out! Playing in pixel perfect mode I can't do any special moves with half circle like hadoken. Back to 4:3 mode and no problem! Back to normal!

How strange that pixel perfect mode can affect controls???

I had a similar issue to with Street Fighter, not sure what I did to fix it but I was switching between all the different modes so that could be it. Very strange.

It really bugs me that there’s no way to go back to the main menu with a controller. I guess I could use my Wii Pro controller but I don’t think it’s possible to use it wirelessly.

Can I stretch games to 16:9?

No. Why? Just no. Ouch this hurts. Stretch? 16:9? Am I living in some twisted timeline where Trump is president? My gosh no you can’t and you shan’t stretch these games to 16:9. Unless you have one of those possessed demonic TV’s where you can mimic such evil, but I think Miyamoto himself might first descend in angelic form to exact holy righteous fury against such a setup. In summary, no you can’t because it is against the natural law that governs the universe.

Hooked up mine for a few minutes before coming in to work. I gotta say I'll most likely play on CRT. Maybe I'm just being extra picky but 4:3 and true pixel look a little too pixelated on my 55". Idk really.

Whenever the inevitable N64 Mini comes out, and by some miracle they get GoldenEye on it, i hope they have the 16:9 option still on it like they did back in the day.

wondering this as well. I read a few posts about the whole 720> 4k resolution matchup being perfect but I didn't seem to see what mode they were using.

From what I saw of the NES Classic's CRT mode, the SNES version looks better. They didn't try to emulate the look of crappy composite video as much.

4:3 also seems to not have the shimmering issues like the NES did, at least as far as I can tell. I'm not as sensitive to it as some people, but I was actively trying to see it. I think they do some interpolation along the horizontal axis to blur the uneven pixels.

I think you're safe to go with either the CRT or 4:3, depending on if you want scanlines or not.

Pixel perfect mode just looks off to me. I don't like the incorrect aspect ratio at all.

Well, got a response from Amazon customer support.

"To help make up for the disappointment, I'd like to offer you a $25 Gift Card."

..............UH, WOW, uh.......that's.....surprisingly generous of them.

Holy shit Did you contact them thru phone or chat? And was it a supervisor?

All I got from those fuckers was "either wait or fuck off" response, I mean not literally but pretty damn close

I just spent my evening laying on the couch playing Super Metroid and Link to the Past. I never got to do that as a kid and yet it seemed so right. I also haven't beaten any or played most of these games (I know..) so it's pretty cool in that way too.

Awesome you can use the Wii controller and the Home button works. Gonna switch to using that

So glad I still have my Wii classic controller. Was about to get really annoyed having to hit reset to switch games every time lol. Just ordered the Orzly extension cables too.

I just sent an email, I honestly wasn't in the mood to deal with the chat.

This is what I sent them:

I placed an order for the SNES Classic on August 22nd and today is the release date, but I still haven't received any update as to when my order would be shipped, which has been disappointing considering other outlets have been fulfilling their pre-orders. Furthermore, it seems that some states have gotten Treasure Trucks that are selling the item, which makes me question why I haven't at the very least gotten an update on my order when it seems that you have the item in stock. Considering how hard it is to find one, let alone secure a pre-order a month ago, this has been rather frustrating. I'm hopeful my order will still be fulfilled, but not having any updates has been stressful with how things have been handled.

& then this was the response I got:

I'm very sorry about the delay in sending your order. I'm sorry about this delay--we certainly didn't expect this would happen.

The availability and shipping times listed on our website are estimates, not guarantees. Unfortunately, unexpected fluctuations in our inventory occasionally happen, and that can add time to our original estimate. I know it's frustrating when that happens, and am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Please understand that we do care for our customers and do all we can to avail this item for you, in spite of all the efforts our reliance on suppliers and manufacturers for information about their stock, has caused this disappointment.

We are working hard to obtain this item for you and we will ship it as soon as we are able to obtain it. This means that we will ship the item as soon as we receive it from our suppliers even if the estimated ship date has still not arrived.

To help make up for the disappointment, I'd like to offer you a $25 Gift Card. If this is acceptable, please write us back and we'll add a $25 Gift Card to your Amazon account, which you can use the next time you order any item on our website. You'll see the Gift Card credit in your Amazon account in the next 2-3 hours. Your gift card balance will be automatically applied to your next order, and you don't need to enter any claim code for it.

As soon as your order has shipped, we'll send you a confirmation e-mail.

We hope to see you again soon.
I have to admit, despite some frustrations with Amazon I've had a few times, their customer support always seems to pull through.

How is the d-pad? Is it actually SNES perfection?

My friend bought it and we played all night.

If it's not, it's pretty damn close. It truly feels as if you're playing with a brand new SNES controller. Which is a very statisfying feeling if you ask me, I was impressed. :lol

GF saw the envy on my face and told me she'd get one for my b-day. I pretty much already have most of those games in my collection, but it's a beautiful little thing and my OG controllers are old as fuck...so I'm glad. :lol

For sure when this will get cracked open I'll add a couple of key titles, Final Fantasy 2, Chrono Trigger and Mega Man 7/X2/X3 are a lock. Hopefully the UI stay the same and we can add box-arts ourselves..was this the case with the NES Classic?

This is something I notice immediately, I find that shimmering renders games unplayable (see Blaster Master Zero on Switch) but the SNES Classic scrolls very nicely and it looks very authentic in CRT mode. I don't like pixel perfect mode either, never have.

Hopefully the NES Classic reissue features these display improvements and comes with with two controllers.

I wasn't able to pick one up today but I'm feeling confident that I'll get one down the road.

Lol @ people using the Wii Classic Controllers because they are too lazy to get up. The SNES controller is like half the appeal.

Welp, my TV just died and my walmart order was backordered...not getting that in anytime soon. I think the world is telling me not to play this dang thing for a while.

Its legit for sure.

Cyclone piledrivers with Zangief all day.

Amaaaazing. I wonder if anyone will ever work on a Wii->SNES controller converter (if it could even be done). It'd be amazing to use these new stock controllers on a SNES

My plan worked this morning. On my way to work I stopped by a Walmart about 5:30 AM. Didn’t see any out, so had to ask a guy sweeping. He then asked someone else. Said yeah they had them and went to the back. A third different person came out with one for me. I had to walk up and pay for it right then though. Elated it worked. Plus my Amazon UK order shipped.

I went through chat just to see what they would say and they just told me that they would email me. Guess I'll have to ride this through.

Could you just swap the internals with an original pad? The moulds are hopefully the same. I have a few old SNES and SFC pads that I need to test it out on.

Not sure if it was posted, but I can confirm that you can have a controller with a Home button (like the Wii classic controller) on the 2nd player port, and you can hit that to get to the Home menu while still using the regular SNES controller on the player one side.

Still pretty annoying and Nintendo-like to do it this way. Any chance when people hack the console, they can create a shortcut command with the regular SNES controller (like, holding L and Start together or something)?

Also, what store is likely going to have extension cables? I need to get some until the Amazon order arrives later in October.

Kirby's Dream Course feels like one of the odd games out of the selection.

Should have just done 19+2 games and released Panel de Pon in English to make up for the lack of Tetris Attack.

Very possibly folks already know about this, but: if you have a Wii Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro, it will work with this, and the home button will take you back out to the main menu. I don't think they feel quite as natural as the pack-in controllers, but it's a decent option if you expect to use a lot of save states or switch games frequently. (edit: ha, beaten by Soldier and probably a bunch of other people)

I've put in time on Yoshi's Island, Zelda, Metroid, and Mario Kart since getting mine, plus futzing around with several other titles. Am I crazy in thinking that the Mega Man X intro music is off? It sounded like it was missing an instrument or something.

So many buying controller extension cords but why not just get a larger HDMI cable? Think about how much you reset the console etc.

Smart and it prevents the need for 2 controller cables.

I'm definitely feeling jealous of those who got one and I hate the uncertainty of when restocks will happen, especially since holidays are gonna be nuts for this thing.

I got big plans for Tetris Attack when the hacks happen.

I remember they compensated me for the whole Zero Time Dilemma deal with the broken watches, though when sending them the email, I made sure to include something among the lines of "while I fully understand that this problem is due to your supplier & not yourselves" to let them know "I'm not happy with this, but I understand why you guys are having some trouble."

I bought a 15ft. HDMI cable a month or so ago so I can connect my laptop to my TV, I'll just use that so I can have the system next to me to easily be able to access it. I guess I could use my Wii Pro Controller, but it'd be nice to use the original SNES controller instead.

The only thing that differentiates them (besides the port of course) is the type of finish. They aren't completely smooth. The added texture isn't distracting, and it gives slightly better grip and less sweaty-hand feel after marathoning 7 hours today.

As for "how often you reset the system"... wha? I hardly reset at all. Maybe at first when I wanted to do a little sampling, but once you get into a game you shouldn't be using the reset unless you need to hardcore savescum a particular moment.

You'd need a USB cable of equal length, plus I'm not entirely settled on putting the console on the floor, even if it is tiny.

I have a bed setup in my room, so even if I did your method I would still have to sit up and reach for the console. The second controller with a Home button option is still the better one, imo.

It always depends on who you get

I had a ebay $50 coupon only for playstation pro but it wasnt clear on what it was for in the message and it was about to expire.

So the lady gave me another $50 coupon on ebay for anything sold on ebay, I wasnt expecting that, I was just calling to see what can I use the other $50 coupon on lol.
