So how long before we get a definitive step-by-step guide in how to add more SNES classics to this system? Turtles in time is a no-brainer to this day there hasn't been an adequate conversion on ANY of the consoles in the past 20 years, let alone a HD remake..that's worthy!

When it's done.

Most of the true greats have already been mentioned but I always felt that the SNES port of Wing Commander was good fun. My own Mini Classic arrives tomorrow; really looking forward to it!

It's like Christmas when the new program gets released to easily copy new games to the mini.
I can't wait, already counting the days and hours. I hope this doesn't take too long anymore now where they know what to do.

Cluster just posted over at gbatemp he may need a week before hackchi2 is ready for SNES mini.

Thanks and take your time bro! Its gona be worth the wait :)

Woo! My SNES Mini from AAFES just showed up. I knocked out everything I needed to do today, so now it's gonna be Super Mario RPG for the rest of the day, haha

The funny thing is... As much as I am looking forward to the software to get updated so that I can add more games... The thing I'm waiting for the most is the button combo to reset the unit. I'm lazy and hate having to get up my couch every time.

Got mine and plugged it into a USB port on my TV. After trying a few games I hit reset on the 4th or 5th one and it shut off immediately, first few reset fine. I got an error message on my TV saying something along the lines of USB power overload. Shut everything off, unplugged the USB cable on both ends and hook it back up and the SNES Classic would not turn back on.

Plugged it into the wall with the AC adapter and started right up with no issues.

Checked it out and the SNES Classic box and AC plug states 5V/1A, and my TV only outputs 5V/500mA

Chances of hurting anything are extremely low, but worth double checking what the USB port you are plugging in is putting out because if you are counting on a save state getting created when you reset this might screw you.

You've been warned. Double check your shit before it bites you on an important save.

Completed super ghouls n ghosts. Totally forgot about
the second playthrough

Totally used save states though. Theres no way I'm doing that shit legit, I'd pull my hair out.

Oh, how's the NTSC 60Hz/PAL 50Hz issue handled this time around?

E: From DF Retro: US Roms. Thank you for this Nintendo. And DF guys, you are awesome as always.

Damn, they can hack that in? That'd would be amazing.

I have NEVER beaten this game because I always forget this part. And when I hit it, I lose steam and never get back to it.

Whats with amazon.de sitting on my damn preorder?

it's called restocks :)

That's been in the announcement trailer and is all over the websites (and box). It might even be in the OP^^

Also been handled this way in the NES classic

So I'm playing Super Metroid for the first time ever.

I'm enjoying the game (I love Metroidvania so it's a no (
mother
)brainer) but I'm struggling a bit with the control. I don't feel like it's super intuitive to double tap down to roll up and things like that.

Beautiful. The only way this would be better is if this were an actual haiku. It's only off by a couple syllables.
Enjoy this Mini
Disconnect from the present
Relive the nineties

Yeah it should've been a haiku. The above is a quick attempt, but I'm sure someone could come up with a better one.

USB 2.0 outlets are .5amp max. That includes pc/laptop ones as well. Unless the usb port clearly states USB 3.0 or a higher amperage, assume that.

That said, Nintendo says 1a out of an abundance of caution. The NESCE and SNESCE run fine on .5. That said, there may be tvs that don't even put out that much.

I just realized that I can use my TV's USB port to power it instead of using one of my power socket on my already overfilled powerbar. This is great
O dang just tried this. Now I can save the USB charger for when I need to charge my switch undocked.
Edit: Just saw above post maybe I should just keep it plugged into the adapter haha.

It depends on the TV. Yours doesn't output the 500mA if it shutdowns.

No problems on mine.

Did those rumors about Target getting more in today turn out to be true? I kept checking Brickseek last night to see of any of the local Target stores stock got updated, but never saw anything.

Yea wondering as well.

I called my local Target and they said they usually don't get trucks in on Sundays and had not received a restock yet but trucks show up almost every weekday.

Feels like just a rumor to me about a restock happening so soon after launch day. The employee I talked to had no idea when the next restock would be coming in.

They could with the NES so I assume it will be possible again.

I think the default was Down on DPAD + Select to reset it.

If you use 8bitdo controllers with the retro receiver you can already do this.

Also can confirm that the Wii classic controllers home buttons works for this functionality as well.

Otherwise should be relatively straight forward for this to be hacked in.

There should be no problem using these SNES controllers on a Wii U for GBA games, right? Going through Super Metroid is giving me a hankering to play Zero Mission with a SNES controller as the Wii U Pro controller just doesn't feel right for pulling off single wall jumps and the like.

So are the dots on the Metroid map there to tell me that there's an item to pick-up there or that I already picked up whatever was in there?

I'm curious if it splits the load between the 2 ports (250/250 on MAX load). I do have something plugged into the other port so if both are pulling max, or close to it, at the same time it might be the cause. And I imagine reset/power on is when the pull is strongest so makes sense.

If you don't run into any problems in the first few sessions you are very likely fine, I'd give it a shot. Just keep in mind you might not get a save state if it does happen, if you care about that. Not trying to ward people off completely or anything.

I apologise for the ignorance, but when newer games are able to be added to the system, will they work seamlessly with the rest of the console, with the same functionality (e.g. save states, ability to rewind, cartridge art), or would it be obvious that they've been added later and be missing those features?

There's a few classics I'd love to add, but for them to not be implemented seamlessly might bother me too much for me to try.

Not sure my question makes any sense, I know what I mean :(

Managed to snag one at Nintendo NY today. The doors opened at 11 and I got there at 10. Line was huge but I managed to get one and as of 6 minutes ago, they finally ran out of stock according to their Twitter.

If you are in the area, go for it since they will do another release at 9am tomorrow. Just remember that you will need ID and you can only pay with a debit or credit card.

That would be a shitty and non compliant implementation if it is true.

I dunno, maybe, have to talk with Panasonic, just a guess on my part, I'm too lazy to dig any further.

Though I'm also not entirely sure "Yours doesn't output the 500mA if it shutdowns" is entirely accurate either if Nintendo rated the device as needing 1A.

In Super Metroid? Both those things. Later games had a different symbol depending if you had it or not, but not Super Metroid.

Yes, it will be totally seamless, as if they were on it when you bought it.

You really can't get 500mA AC adapters anymore. The most available and mass produced one does 1A. It's just a matter of getting whatever was the cheapest.

There is or was an item there.

And items don't always have dots.

Boom

I miss having to be much more aware of the surrounding graphics like cracks in the wall etc. makes the Power you get later actually mean something.

The sense of discovery and reward when finding power ups is so good.

Samus returns got this so wrong with the scan pulse.

Been playing super metroid - I think I did this in an order I usually don't. Like I got ice beam a bit later than usual and was in an area I didn't even know had water because I don't think I've ever been there without the gravity suit.
