I can't tell how nice it is to play mario world on the snes classic with a wireless snes pad on a lazy Sunday. I've dreamed of something like this for ages.
I read that there is a problem with certain sound hardware like soundbars. Are you using something like that?

There are people who have actually finished that game?

Where can one acquire said wireless SNES controller?
I've done it. Once. In 25 years of playing it.
Where can one acquire said wireless SNES controller?
Yes, it will be totally seamless, as if they were on it when you bought it.

Their SNES30 paired with an NES retro receiver with the most recent firmware.
Mine works fine. Charges and QCF/QCB all good, dicey on SRK but I think thats more of the input polling for the game than the controller. Thanks for the heads-up. Cancelling my Amazon order.
Anyone else have experience with the Hori Fight Commander?
That's the coolest, good to know thanks.
Be careful when you say NES retro receiver.
8bitdo also sells a product that plugs into a regular NES controller port and allows you to use wireless controllers. Obviously thats not what you want. Make sure it says nes classic and/or look at the pic and make sure it plugs into the Wii port.
The one thing with the NES classic hack was that the games weren't listed in the same row as the originals. There was an icon for an "other" folder that took you to another screen with the added games. It's not a big deal but just something to note.

So do we know when therell be a restock? Ive called/visited every store in middle TN and had no luck. Anybody in TN and know of a hookup?

Absolutely just move the receiver. Can I flip flop between an NES30 on a NES Classic and a SNES30 on a SNES Classic using the same receiver? Without re-pairing every time, of course.
Sadly mine no longer works.
I was playing Super Mario RPG, pressed the reset button, and then got no resoonse from my controller.
Turned it off, turned it back on, still no response.
Console boots up fine its just neither controller will work anymore. Maybe the ports are no longer getting power?
Weirdly it was working fine yesterday and Friday. Id say be careful when pressing the reset button but i dont know if that even makes a difference.
Either way have to send it to Nintendo and it'll be a 2-3 weeks. Hopefully they can salvage my save data.

US or Euro model for curiosity sake.
Not true, you could set it up that way in a separate folder, have it seamlessly with your other NES games, or a ton of other display options.
And if you kept them all in one single row, you lost save state functionality. So sure, I was wrong. You COULD do it. But you wouldnt want to.
Only if you went way overboard with how many you had. I added about 20 games to the NES Mini, kept it one row, and all was fine.
On SNES Mini, I'll be adding about 10, maybe 12, so I should be fine there too.
Is anyway who got the Hori Fighting Commander wireless controller having any issues?
Got one from GameStop. Put in new AA alkaline batteries and plugged in the wireless receiver into the SNES Classic, and the "low battery" flashing red LED on the controller appears. A flashing red LED appears on the wireless receiver as well. No button inputs are recognized by the SNES Classic.
Took it back and exchanged for another one. Same issue. Tried a different brand of batteries, the store employee even helped me test both controllers...no luck. They only had three in stock and I didn't really wanna have to open all of them to try to find one that works.
I want this controller for the Classic and Wii VC games but when two different brand new ones give me the same "low battery" indicator and no connection, I have my doubts. I emailed HORI and will update if I hear anything.
Is this a widespread thing or do I just have bad luck?
HORI wrote back:
Please follow these steps to sync the controller:
1. Insert the receiver dongle into the SNES Classic console USB port.
2. LED light on receiver will blink red.
3. Press and hold the "Start" button on the controller for 3 seconds.
4. LED on receiver will stop blinking.
5. Controller sync is complete.
even though this was noticeably absent from the included instructions, I still feel kinda dumb. it's been working great now.

Are you sure save states still work?
Which power adapter were you using? Have you tried a different one?Sadly mine no longer works.

So I assume the Wii Classic controller works on this just like it does with the NES Classic? One of the nice things about using the Wii Classic controller is that the home button acts as the reset button. Also, my ThinkGeek order from Friday is still processing... Ive had four SNES Classic preorders cancelled thus far so Im very curious how things will go Monday
So how much free space is there on these things for 'adding' games? I know the total is 512MB.
I apologise for the ignorance, but when newer games are able to be added to the system, will they work seamlessly with the rest of the console, with the same functionality (e.g. save states, ability to rewind, cartridge art), or would it be obvious that they've been added later and be missing those features?
There's a few classics I'd love to add, but for them to not be implemented seamlessly might bother me too much for me to try.
Not sure my question makes any sense, I know what I mean![]()
I have a poster? Oh man I bet it's folded to with the manual I never opened...?!What are the dimensions of the poster packed in the NA edition?
I have a few extra games added from when the NES Classic was first hacked, they appear in the same row as all the other games and save states absolutely do work.
I support the thread title update.
"Stop asking modding questions."
Seriously, there are amazing games on this thing - let's talk about them.
I think only 5% of the posts in this thread have been about games. Mostly about stock, modding, and controllers/sound stuff :-(
Can someone recommend me a good site/guide/walk through for Secret of Mana? I'm looking to 100% it, and would love one that has Maps, an item checklist by area, etc.
Starmen.net has me spoiled. I've been using that site along with my Earthbound guide to play and it's been an amazing experience.
I beat SoM 4-5 times as a kid, but it's been 15+ years and I'd love to get everything in one go.
Wouldn't mind having individual game OTs for this thing. Lots of folks getting to rediscover some classics.
