BJ was fantastic in TNO. Doomguy's character in Doom 2016 was really overhyped, the opening scene is really cool the rest is whatever. His character doesn't show through in most of the game, he's just another silent protagonist doing what the guy on the radio is telling him to for 90% of the game. The opening scene was developed late and it shows as the rest of the game doesn't really follow through on it.

You lose something from the Doom Slayer if you don't read the Data Logs or listen to the Testaments aside from the well established history of Doom itself.
Same here. It's a good game, but not GOTY for me.
No way, maybe if you don't read the logs or the demons' view on him.

just how effed is doki doki literature club? my coworker just told me i had to play it but it sounds pretty messed up and i am hesitant.

it's a free VN on steam. seems pretty popular and well regarded, but there are a ton of warnings about it being supremely disturbing. my coworker said it's prob better if you are in a good mental place when playing, and i'm not sure if he's just trying to scare me off or not lol

I didn't find it too bad, granted I was just watching a streamer play through it. As someone who is pretty squeamish when it comes to horror though I didn't find it too terrible
Maybe I'll just watch a LP. Currently playing Root Letter.

Even with that, I connected with BJ better. Doomguy was always just Doomguy. The logs and lore didn't change that. BJ felt far more likable/relatable, which made the power fantasy even more potent.
At some point they should just be blocked from buying studios
Brad and Jeff in particular really had a soft spot for it.
I thought it was ok but kinda disappointing. It could so easily be far creepier/actually say something with what its doing, and instead it went for some cheap shock value stuff that, while effective at the time, doesnt really stick with you in a meaningful way and is disappointing in retrospect.
Ive had this discussion in the OT, but I really would not say its supremely fucked up or disturbing. Theres shocking moments but the execution of them sorta... again, doesnt make them nearly as disturbing or meaningful as they could be, so you can say theyre horrible on paper but they werent really? And the creepiest bits to me were not fucked up at all, just actually creepy. I have more to say but I feel like Im repeating my OT ranting and would probably start to be too spoilery.
That being said be in a good mental place applies but thats more of a trigger warning than anything about being scary, if that makes sense?

Man...that Visceral news is depressing. I knew Dead Space 4 would never happen, but I had a small sliver of hope it would come back eventually. Now, even a competent Star Wars SP game is getting mangled and twisted into a PUBG clone because it's what's popular now.

That Star Wars game is never being made... but more importantly, hopefully all the people who worked their find new jobs quick. I wonder why EA closed it. By the looks of the article from Kotaku, they're going to attempt to shift teams around, but people are definitely going to be left behind. 
Henning joined visceral in April of 14 to work on that game. Now it has no planned release date. Jason S. is saying he's heard it's been in trouble for months. What a bummer.

Yeah. I assume her and the rest of the team are completely out of jobs now. Hopefully the team will land on their feet after all this. Sucks Amy never even got to release a game after leaving ND.
