I wasn't in a thread to talk about GamerGate, I was in a thread to talk about how it was sad but understandable that Nintendo fired an employee who moonlit as a sex worker.
GamerGate had some skin in the game and I was told I was defending them just by proximity. Sorta like this thread here.
The beauty of talking out of your ass is nothing has to be grounded in fact. As if I "listen" to GamerGate.

Without the mods around its been revealing just how beyond parody the left of this forum actually had become. Just as there are plenty of undesirables on the right appearing out of the sewers, seeing (I assume!) non parody accounts actually yell "Gamer Gate!!" at everything that moves proves all the "gamer gate pushed me down the stairs" comics amazingly on point.
More like permabanned immediately because you didn't think some stupid newly invented clickbait drama like manspreading was to be taken seriously receiving just the copy pasted message "you're not fit for this community". These messages were literally hundreds and were posted all over twitter and neogaf satellite forums but nope, nothing wrong there, no one's silencing wrongthink.
You know what's the most annoying part of all this is? You people knew that this was happening, you thoroughly supported it by cheering for the bans and now pretend that you know nothing about it. Hypocrisy at its best. I'm glad the new forum will absorb most of the toxicity, good riddance to it.

Stop this. It's pretty clear that this event occurred, I think it's also clear that Evilore despite his many character flaws made a mistake as opposed to doing something malicious.
That said, him calling her a liar makes this malicious. He was the one that said they got together after the incident, and acknowledged the incident. Where exactly did she lie?

I am curious to the angry people left, what do you want exactly? You and I both know EL will NOT do any kind of full out mea culpa, and it will remain a he said she said. He MAY give a little more, and make some kind of apology eventually, or give more facts/info/proof to support more of his story, we'll find out eventually.
But getting mad at moderation staff who try to "lighten the mood" won't help either, what do you want from them? They already apologized for being so slow in taking care of some things as they had to try to douse the bevy of crazy suicide threads posted (and still being posted by those uber mature people), and they said they are going to work on BEING more transparent. They are also clearing out the gg riff raff which pops up as soon as they can.
So what else do you all want? to vent? to just be angry? to bring those who aren't leaving, or plan to browse all communities (90 percent of people do not just look at one, I check several different places all the time btw) down or make them feel bad?
Do you want more answers? IF you waiting on that, again you were told, dude is working on a "statement" and will release it later, if that's not good enough for you ( I don't blame anyone who it isn't enough for btw) then I understand but why just continue on with some of the nonsense?
Saying the community will turn to GG because OT is gone is nonsense as well, as you've seen once the mods begin catching up these people are being banned. Saying the community will be a ghost town because all the users are gone is also nonsense.
there are almost 200k registered users on this forum, if you think all 220k or even half of them will just vanish, you are wrong, or maybe I am, I guess we'll find out. but to say there is no content creators left is just well, a lie. As with all things, new people (or old people) will begin to fill their places. Chris no longer posting Media create? someone else has (and will going forward). Your favorite poster no longer going to post that 1000 gif long OT for Dragon Age 5? someone else will. do you seriously think because Aeana is gone no one will make a good Dragon Quest XI switch OT? Someone will. do people really think that no one else is capable of making an OT for a game or of going around to random game sites and compiling review scores? Or of posting rumors and "breaking news"? Most of GAFs news and rumors were sourced from other places, that is a bonafied fact. also 90% of the "insiders" here ended up being liars, being wrong and not believed, so if that's what missing well... See I think the thing is, some folks are just obsessed with the celebrity of some posters, they just can't fathom anyone else posting that information.
As for Off Topic, I admit it is a loss, I used to post their more than gaming, but I am willing to see where this goes and how it pans out. If the focus ends up being better for certain hobbies great, again I can give it a chance, I can do that much, and if I don't like it, I'll leave, not a big deal. but why try to purposely ruin/crap on the users and forum because you want to leave?

I'm not going to lie, I honestly feel EL should step down. I understand the site being his baby and all, but many have stepped down from positions of power following a scandal/expose/whateveryouwanttocallit. From here onward, I can only see NeoGAF being painted in a bad light as long as he's still at the helm of it.
It was posted 7 minutes ago and with like two moderators working (maybe more), do you really expect the bans to fly out immediately?

I genuinely don't think 80% of this board ever understood how the real world worked. But then the owner might still not have the best grip on it either and was clearly a real bad judge of character so what can you expect. ¯\_(ツ

Geez, the front page seems like it is barely moving today. I can remember when topics moved to page 2 and beyond in minutes if not seconds.
He should have stepped down over the weekend (even symbolically, even temporarily until the accusations are worked through). If he did it then, there probably wouldn't have been the mod exodus. imo it's too late now. People that have decided to leave won't suddenly be won back by him stepping down.

I was discussing the situation minus GamerGate, and then after something like 24 hours of being asked in the thread how I can condone someone being fired when some GamerGaters wanted her fired, I said the broken clock bit.
Are we clear? I didn't bring up GamerGate, I don't know anyone involved with it, I really don't have any time for it. That doesn't mean I'm going to take the position opposite of them as a blanket policy, that's ridiculous.
This isn't close to what I said and I suspect you know that.

The former: people are already leaving. And the way some of them are doing it won't convince me to follow, but makes me see them in a bad light.
The latter: oh boy, where do I start. Go to 4chan, vgchatz, Youtube...NeoGaf was in a bad light outside the NeoGaf bubble already before the recent events and it had nothing to do with Malka as a person.
Just an observation...I'm still having fun in here.
Considering GAF wasn't strictly moderated at all (well, maybe in comparison to places like reddit or 4chan), that doesn't sound too good.
It was made by NBA and footy gaf after their communities got purged. It's a pretty decent place. A bunch of gaffers moved there for the moment.

Can you elaborate or post some links? I always thought that aside from other message boards thinking that we were elitists of some sort, that NeoGAF was always kind of respected.
