No need to be snippy pal. My post you quoted even stated I wasn't absolutely sure of all the details. Site launched yesterday and i've only posted so far in the new Exvius thread to regroup with fellow members from GAF, just like I do with the Discord channel.
Please don't go trying to make me into something I am not.
In another post following that I mentioned there are tales of PMs deleting after 10 minutes and stuff being censored but I was not sure whether its from GAF or ERA and that I could be completely wrong, which I would accept.
People can be wrong without others feeling the need to be aggressive. I have no issues with ERA if you read my posts here. I only mentioned I believe there should be a sticky thread to discuss GAF and it's issues since it is what spawned the site.

I lurked this site for years, never posted much but I loved the in-depth discussion on games and other hobbies and the safe space it generally afforded people.
I find Malka's stigmatizing of mental illness as part of his defense despicable. That it took three days to say anything is cowardly and moronic. He makes poor choices of which washrooms to walk into naked, poor choices in running a forum and poor choices in developing a measured response that could restore faith in a community. He's a bad administrator and by every appearance a bad person.
That the majority of good mods left, people who worked for this man for years, should make it clear what sort of character this man has. A good leader wouldn't have almost his entire administration quit when news like this breaks. That should tell us all something important about who he really is, don't you all think? They didn't think "No, that doesn't sound like Malka". They thought "That sounds exactly like Malka".
I don't know how anyone in good conscience can keep visiting this site and finance another one of his trips around the world. That'd be unfair to the world.
To the mod that bans me - please ask yourself if you're part of something that will make the world a better place, even in its own tiny, hobbyist little way. I don't think this forum can ever be that anymore, but I know where we can all find it. The community that made up the heart of NeoGAF has moved on, so the work you mods do now will build up something new. Please consider if it's really worth dedicating your free time to do that - do you really care about EvilLore's bank account that much? Why help this one man get richer? Is he really the sort of person that deserves to profit off of all this traffic and all your work - even if you don't think the allegations are true, how about how he can't even be assed to address his community after three days of it imploding? Right now, this site is just a name and Tyler Malka's checking account. Why waste your time on that?

Sure, but when all of that stuff was actively censored and any threads and posters discussing the issues were nuked from orbit, it's not hard to see why the majority of people here wouldn't know about it.

The site went down for 3 days because EL didnt like the allegations.
Site comes back up and OT is gone for a moment with a strong message that Politics and social issues will not be allowed moving forward. Alienating many groups that safely called this place their home to discuss these political and social issues that they face. Basically telling them they are no longer accepted.
Site starts becoming even more authoritarian with the removal of PMs with links in them, the timer on PMs the censoring of the other forum's name and the removal of edit notes.
No matter where you stand it's hard to deny that EL isn't handling this whole thing extremely poorly.
EditEdit: They've also added a shadow power structure. Which is the opposite of what GAF needed in order the recover.

I just think invalidating/dismissing a person's opinion based on join date or post count is kind of weak.
Many people have come here every day for years and just prefer to read.
Lack of activity is no indication of whether one has been watching/observing what has been going on here.

I think it's pretty telling that a lot of people refrained from participating because of the rotten atmosphere created by some users. It's very logical that when a lot of those users leave, the people who refrained before try to participate again.
Anyway, what's your point? Policing people? About what exactly? Are you a moderator?

I've never seen so many people use "SJW" and "cuck" on these forums as I have in the past few days. And that's not even speaking of that homophobe that espoused conversion therapy a couple of days ago. (thankfully he's been banned) Those are the type of people who have come out of the woodwork.
Listen, I'm not saying that this community can't be turned around. But the fact of the matter is that whatever GAF was a week ago - it took up and left for the other place. This ain't that GAF anymore. I've got both twitter feeds side by side going at the moment, and guess what - the people who've come out of hiding or whatever, they ain't picking up the slack in regard to thread posting, to say the least. And that's my point when I point out all these whatever-the-opposite-of-fair-weather GAF fans is. They talk a big game, but so far, I'm not seeing much evidence that they're here for anything beyond soaking up some drama.
So, I will ask this once and for all, because I couldn't make any sense of it.
For the new ERA forum - will we be able to register anytime soon or does it work in a way where you have to get invited to join? Because people have been throwing around these two possibilities. Or do we simply don't know at this point? Maybe somebody has a clear answer. Would be much appreciated

Though there is still spam and slower movement of the boards, they do seem much tidier and more stable today than they have been since this shit went down. Whoever the new mods are thanks for trying to right the ship, it appears to be working for the most part.

I didn't recognise names or anything, but then i never really paid attention or remember which user said what, aside from a few ones, so there's that.
i guess that's one of the (but not the only) reasons why Gaf doesn't feel the same these days.
I was never here for Evilore, the forum wasn't the expression of his personality and i'll reiterate that this particular episode wasn't probably that big a deal at all, although it uncovered deeper issues with the way things were handled.
What i'm saying is I won't leave in protest or anything (besides i don't think i contributed much although i've been a member since 2004 with 15.000 posts. I won't be missed) but this is not the GAF i liked so i'll probably just start looking elsewhere myself. Again, not in protest, just because the contents are not what they used to be.

As far as I know, registration is currently closed. Eventually, it'll work much the same as GAF registration, paid email account and all.
They're doing another wave of invites for European discord users sometime today, but I also think invites for those are frozen as well. I think you'll just have to wait. (unless I'm wrong, I'm not entirely informed)
I am sure they'll get the EU discords handled and then its open for normal registration.

I'm so used to these guys talking to me like that that I didn't even think about it initially. All the "try again"s, and the "delusional" framing. I was honestly just going off what I saw on their website... I've said previously I wish the site well, even if I don't agree with everything. It would be pretty hypocritical of me otherwise.

The guy needed help, not to be banned or ridiculed. Dude had some pretty obvious mental issues that stemmed from confusion around his sexuality earlier in life where he thought he might be gay and got himself into relationships with guys who appear to not have treated him the best. Sadly, he turned to "God" for guidance like so often happens and instead of helping him, it made things worse.
