Stop being so upset about us bantering about Era. No matter how much you wanna downplay things, there is no doubt that the creation of ResetEra was a big cut for GAF and things were looking bleak for a while afterwards. It's fine to talk about and it doesn't make us sewage. Believe it or not, there were people who actually cared about this site and hated the way how toxic their former "internet home" got when it was handed on a silver platter to SJWs. Yes, it's natural to see change in things and in life. But it's not always for the better. Just looking at the way mods are handling this topic on this very page paints a positive picture on how things could turn out for "NuGAF". Transparency and freedom of opinion are a great thing. See how you can talk to us without having to pass purity tests and being in constant fear of accidentally stepping out of line?

Sorry, I don't follow Giant Bomb, just not autistic enough to idolize a weird group of bitter "game journalists".

Pro tip: If things antagonize you or others, you are not forced to read.

You probably didn't read what I wrote correctly, so let me help you out. Questioning whether it's an integral part of the site's history has nothing to do with how much resetera was a cut for gaf, which it obviously was. It has to do with the real purposes of this thread. You're not remotely interested in discussing resetera as an "integral part of gaf's history", most people here just want to take a jab at things that are being said over there, and this whole integral-part spiel is a thinly veiled excuse for doing so. As for why this is the most popular thread here, most of you keep saying how it's a continuous flow of entertainment for you, but I wonder if it's something else as well. Does resetera not being one of the usual vitriolic regressive gaming hubs somehow anger you? Or maybe you don't like the fact that their gaming side is as lively as oldgaf used to be, compared to the wasteland that is nugaf's current gaming side? There are many possibilities that haven't been ruled out.

Also yeah, freely (and unironically) using words like "sjws" and "autistic", I now plainly see how healthy this forum has become.

Oh, you mean like when Daniel Vavre was called out for being 'racist' - despite the fact that he wasn't racist? How about Colin Moriarty who was called out for being 'intolerant' - despite the fact that (again), no such intolerance was found, except to the overzealous community that you seem to subscribe to. The community *looks* for any mild non-issue they have and tries to make it an issue. They have a long history of these pathetic witch hunts, something that has been proven to cause industry veterans to hide/shy from communication (as can be seen by the Skyrim poster). What about the multiple bans for daring to suggest that Jessica Price deserved to be fired or calling out the false narratives that people like Jason Schreier or Austin Walker tried to push? Nah, they were just the ones pushing false narratives and demonizing the press they so desperately wish to get notoriety from. The moderation team was on the "right side of history."

You consider this "antagonizing" people, but the vast majority of the posts is looking at the actions of other sites to hopefully prevent such poor moderation and community interaction from taking hold here once more. Most of the "antagonizing" comes from people like you and your posts that refer to everyone as "sewage", blatantly false claims of "alt-right/neo-nazis", and sad attempts at trying to play the moral high ground. Also, this isn't the most popular thread. Nice try with the disingenuous bull.

You mean Daniel Vavra the gamergator? Or the unapologetically-sexist rightwinger Colin Moriarty? What makes you think both of them wouldn't be called out for their practices over at resetera? If you want to build your strawman argument you will have to find better examples than those two, all you currently have a is a shapeless pile of hay.

Also re: most popular thread. An OT or somesuch might have been more popular here at some point, and this somehow negates the fact that this is one of the most active threads the site has seen in a while. Keep deflecting.

One day you'll realise that all you've done by crying racist at every single transgression because "you're on the right side of history" is make the word meaningless if you haven't already. Racist, bigot, misogynist, ---phobe, facist etc are used so flippantly and errantly that they are already well on their way to becoming meaningless.

And that isn't even looking into the fact that almost every one of them is used in a hypocritical manner.

Ah yes, the usual "it's not them, it's you" fallacy. The issue at hand is not the pervasive racism and sexism being propagated by emboldened people, it's the people who call them out. It's easy to say people are crying wolf, and it's easy to dismiss everything as a non-issue when you are not affected by any of the issues at hand. Kind of like how the phrase "I don't see color, if you do you are the real racist" seems to always come from white folk. You call them meaningless because you do not care, but to others those things are a constant issue in their everyday lives. It takes effort to be understanding at the very least.

Also thanks for that high and mighty "you'd be banned by now" input. During my 5 years at oldgaf I seemed to be doing just fine. Those opinions you express now, where were you to express them during those times? I guess that's why people become particularly agitated when I call them out as cowards.

Regardless, I won't discuss things that are up to mod discretion. What I always liked about gaf was that I could freely speak my mind and that led to lots of constructive discussions (and pretty heated discussions sometimes), but somehow never a ban. I guess that tends to happen if your opinions are not a pile of bigoted trash. I also guess that when some of you say "we would be banned at the old site for that, but now we are good", it's because you know exactly what kind of opinions you hold. If the mod team believes I've gone too far now and should take a (permanent or otherwise) vacay, I will accept it and thank everyone for my 5 years here.
I see this argument a lot on Reset, but no one can dismantle it there without getting perma banned, so allow me to do it here:

Calling out someone for being intolerant is fine. Calling out everyone who does not agree with your opinion for being intolerant simply because they do not agree with your opinion is not fine. It's pure dictatorship behaviour. Most of the people being accused of racism over that side aren't even being racist. Most of the people being accused of sexism aren't even being sexist. And let's not even talk about extreme labels like "nazi".

As someone else said here, the constant misuse of those labels ultimately makes them meaningless.

Jessica Price's thread is an excellent example. She accused a fan of mansplaining her for giving her feedback then and proceeded to call him an asshat, in addition to being very aggressive towards another user. She (and a male co-worker who defended her actions) got booted by the company the next morning. But simply pointing this out on the resetera thread was worth a ban for, guess what, "pushing a false narrative"! The tweets were there for everyone to see, but apparently, according to the mods, they are fake news and a product of our imagination. The gaming press took this story and called the fan in question the harasser and Price the victim, even though it was blatantly not the case. But simply pointing this out was worth a ban as well, for "villifying game journalism"! Guild Wars 2 community, which is one of the nicest and most SJW-friendly out there (far more than ResetEra itself, which are not friendly nor welcoming) were accused for being an "angry mob of Gamegators!" by reseters. But you couldn't dare to point out how ignorant tht was, if you didn't want to get silenced by the mods and labeled a "far-right troll".

Ultimately, the community's hypocrisy and false labeling is all over the place. They were willing to defend a bully just because she was a woman. Where's the morality in that? That's sexism. Why weren't they banned? Why weren't they labeled nazis too? Because doing so would require some sort of self-conscious about their own hypocrisy, which they don't have any. In their limited view of the world, their opinion is 100% right and everyone who does not agrees with them is 100% wrong.

So, no, reseters are't having people banned for being intolerant. They are having people banned for being "perceived" as intolerant, according to their own incredibly broad, vague standards of what makes someone intolerant or not. The moment something like "I don't like you" equals "you are intolerant", then that label has lost any meaning behind it.

I briefly looked up the Jessica Price incident as I didn't know anything about it. (side note - I'm hardly active at the other site as well, so don't go thinking I'm some kind of resetera spokesperson who's supposed to address every little controversy you throw at me. I frequent both sites and I can tell what's happening here and what's happening there) Barely anything you said is true. The resetera thread has people claiming she was in the wrong during that exchange, and no ban or "dogpile" occurred. I guess the "reeeeeseters are unhinged again!" narrative doesn't quite work here. What I did see is that the incident spawned a harassment campaign from reddit and other toxic wastelands within the gaming community, with people spam-emailing employers to fire their women employees. That sound familiar? The only angry mob I saw came from the videogame community (again), and youtube-searching Jessica Price and seeing the kind of videos posted about her (and the kind of people who made those videos) really tells me all I need to know. If people over at resetera were indirectly supportive of yet another hate campaign, then yeah I see no wrong in giving them the boot.

Also reverse sexism is not a thing, same for reverse racism, but I feel like we're beating a dead horse by now. These kinds of arguments were debunked at this very site years ago, only to be brought back after everyone left.

When you are one of the most prolific posters on there with 21k posts and you engage in consistent passive-aggressive and condescending behavior, the normal thing would be that such a user gets banned. So they did. But then you realize that this user is a Little Helper, and what would The Names do without their beloved resettelment advisors? So the powers that be reverse the penalty. Because clearly this or this or this or this or this (I thought ''just asking questions'' was frowned upon?) or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this or this aren't ''escalating hostility'' or ''thread derail'', nope, not at all.

I mean, if you do that kind of posting on every thread, then yeah, you can generate 21k posts. Quantity over quality.

But ofcourse, the one you bait remains on a perm for ''Ignoring mod post, thread derailment. Consistent pedantry on issues surrounding minorities.'' The bolded is quite ironic given how the way this user posts.

And yet you have other users thinking this Little Helper would make a great staff member. Well, he isnt wrong when it comes to The Names. Not surprising that the same user is a fan of the prolific poster.

That being said, I can't possible agree or humor the idea of a Kiwi user that wants to hold a contest ''to see who can last the longest on ResetEra as a Junior Member trying to prove they love & respect women, minorities, trannies, antifa and everything socialist, and that they hate Trump, nazis, frogs, Gamergaters, and video games in general.''. Essentially making alts or already existing accounts and trying to poke around the beast sort to say. That is not contributive at all. You don't need to throw a grenade to an already exploding train in motion. Just let the thing roll its tracks out as it happens. This is why i say that 90% of Kiwi is quite crap. Because this has nothing to do with proper discussion.

To end it on a good note, i am glad that one of the more exemplarly users who battled cancer is doing well, relatively speaking. On a family front, sadly, his dad passed away. Stay strong, Talal. My condolences to your dad.

T themagicalkitsune Hey Magical! I just see you posted and quoted a bunch of folk, but sadly you didn't address mines! I was wondering about your opinion on my piece, as i hope it provided a few good counter points go with. Could i invite you to a response? If you missed it, its here. Thank you in advance!

excel was one of the few posters that even at peak crazyness on GAF I put a notch above.
I avoided every topics that had any posts from excel like the plague.

Just get over it. This thread exists and it is a mix of entertainment and coping with GAF's past. It's fine if you don't approve. You're doing a good job of providing content though.

Also yeah, freely (and unironically) using words like "sjws" and "autistic", I now plainly see how healthy this forum has become.

I can see how an unironic REEra poster would hate freedom and banter!

Man, your defense of the place is inspiring. I am sure The Names and the Little Helpers (as redneckerz likes to call them), will pat you on the back and give you a big ol' gold star. However, everything you stated has been refuted time and again by other parties in this thread over the past three months. I suggest actually read the thread in full, instead of cherry picking the 2-3 posts that fit your little narrative.

As for the "word" problem, if you have an issue with a term - report it. If the moderators do not see it as an issue, then you are most likely being overly sensitive about it. And lets be honest, it isn't like Era/OldGaf had problems with words given the over reliance on terms that ended in '-ist/-ic' as a way to silence opposition. No, I am sure you think that was just a totally healthy behavior, one that you continue to perpetrate down below!

Oh, so since Daniel Vavre supported ethics in gaming journalism back in 2014 (which was the reason he and others like Total Biscuit didn't outright deny Gamergate like you had wanted), he is therefore a terrible person and a racist? That is what Era has officially stated and banned anyone for stating otherwise. Colin, a known egalitarian/feminist, made a simple joke and is also right-leaning so that means he is therefore also a terrible person and a sexist? Both were called out at ResetEra, which is why I brought them up to counter your claim that "intolerance" is being called out on the other site - despite the fact that neither are the labels you so desperately want to impose upon them so you can feel like your childish witch hunt was justified. That isn't a strawman, that is a direct counter to what you had claimed using evidence.

Also re: most popular thread. An OT or somesuch might have been more popular here at some point, and this somehow negates the fact that this is one of the most active threads the site has seen in a while. Keep deflecting.

The only one deflecting is you. You stated that this was *the* most popular thread on the site. I gave clear examples that it wasn't and now you are moving goal posts. Bravo.

You call them meaningless because you do not care, but to others those things are a constant issue in their everyday lives. It takes effort to be understanding at the very least.

The evidence is there. Old and new members alike, as well as industry veterans have called out the disingenuous usage and overly hostile attitude that is so pervasive in the mindset that you wish to perpetrate. You try to find racist/sexist boogeymen in every little corner just so you can feel like your little tirades are justified.

Also thanks for that high and mighty "you'd be banned by now" input. During my 5 years at oldgaf I seemed to be doing just fine. Those opinions you express now, where were you to express them during those times? I guess that's why people become particularly agitated when I call them out as cowards.

You mean people grow agitated when you falsely accuse and insult them? Wowee, Batman. I would have never thought that someone would do that!

Regardless, I won't discuss things that are up to mod discretion. What I always liked about gaf was that I could freely speak my mind and that led to lots of constructive discussions (and pretty heated discussions sometimes), but somehow never a ban. Again, this has been shown to be blatantly false in the seven years of evidence that exists of OldGaf being controlled by those overzealous, far-left/authoritarian moderators. Try again.

I briefly looked up the Jessica Price incident as I didn't know anything about it. (side note - I'm hardly active at the other site as well, so don't go thinking I'm some kind of resetera spokesperson who's supposed to address every little controversy you throw at me. Yet, we have evidence of saved bans thanks to the kind folks that run the Resetera ban aggregator. This is something that was literally described by the person you had quoted - but clearly you did not read or do the research. Hardly surprising.

I'm not incredibly active on any of both sites as well, so I understand you. Most of the bans over that thread lasted only a few days or a week at best, so it's possible that looking at it now may give you a very different picture of what truly happened.

I invite you to check this page and see the print screen that was posted there, which was taken right after the bans started to come in waves. It should give you a clearer idea on how it was moderated.
https://www.neogaf.com/threads/guil...twitter-exchange-with-streamer.1463543/page-4

What I did see is that the incident spawned a harassment campaign from reddit and other toxic wastelands within the gaming community, with people spam-emailing employers to fire their women employees.
This is unfortunate and highlights some of the core issues with (a portion of) the gaming community. Nonetheless, it is an issue that came after the incident, not one that provoked it. It's perfectly possible for a reasonable person to disapprove any kind of hate movement and still not aprove of what J. Price did. I've read a lot of comments from female players over GW2's reddit critizing Price's behavior and calling her out for playing the victim card. In fact, the overwhelming majority of the community has expressed that opinion.

Then here it comes the gaming press to tell us "how wrong we are" and how "Price is yet another victim of an angry mob". And communities like ResetEra enforce that narrative through their moderation practices.

Also reverse sexism is not a thing, same for reverse racism.
No, you're right, there's no just thing as "reverse" sexism/ racism. There is just plain sexism/ racism. And anyone can be a victim of that, even those who traditionally weren't before.

I mean, check this out... you get banned for bullshit, because you do not want to engage in the bait, but yet they make up a reason to ban you anyhow. Poor Caayn Caayn , all he wanted to do is not discuss it, his right, yet, they make up a reason in their schizophrenic echo chamber.

That poor fucker was banned for NOT saying anything?! jesus h. fucking christ!

Brazil does not condone violence there and I think his point is overall valid. Convincing Trump voters might still be more profitable than he says, but picking a more conservative candidate, such as Clinton, in order to more closely align with moderate conservatives might be overall a worse idea than trying to mobilise left leaning non-voters.

Listen, I never said he did, however... they do not warn or ban anyone making those comments about the "other team".

That is the same thing as condoning.

ResetEra, where you can openly make threats of violence against the other political party, even as far as condone a bullet to the President's head.

The person who made the bullet comment was banned for 24hrs for it. And I myself have been banned for multiple days for making a similar statement towards another public figure. So no you cannot openly do that. They have a zero tolerance policy on death threats and similar death related comments.

Death threat was banned 24 hours (which came after other forums were laughing about no moderation done, yes there is a timeline)... meanwhile far less offenses not in the group think get permanent bans if not weeks or months. Hell, scroll up and Caayn was banned for not wanting to talk about their favorite boogeyman... A WEEK.

Threaten for death/violence on someone, eh, 24 hours, since it was Trump and his voters.

There is no consistency, unless it is to the other team. Fuck out of here with that shit, and why would you make a threat of violence on the interweb as well? What is wrong with you?

Perma bans are usually only implemented when the members account violates the rules while still in the junior phase, has a history of bad behavior, ignores warnings or does something bad enough to warrant immediate action. (Transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, etc etc) Though obviously decisions are made on a case by case basis and depends on which one of the mods is making the decision. Most are pretty lenient, but a few are not to be fucked with as I myself have discovered a few times now. There have been quite a few unfair bans, but for the most part they get it right. Nobody wants trolls or hate speech on their forum so I don't blame them at all for not giving second chances or the benefit of the doubt to some people. Luckily its fairly easy to tell who deserves some slack and who doesn't in most cases.

Then again seeing as most of this thread is made up of people who were permabanned themselves and go to Era on a daily basis looking for things to complain about I hardly expect anyone in here to agree with me on that point.

Then again seeing as most of this thread is made up of people who were permabanned themselves and go to Era on a daily basis looking for things to complain about I hardly expect anyone in here to agree with me on that point.

Threatening violence based on political ideology is the utmost epitome of hate speech and trolling. But you do you playa.

I have never been banned there, I just stopped visiting the echo chamber. Being banned does not make one in the wrong either, but nice attempt at a dig, lol. They are not infallible and there is a ban site dedicated to proving your "company line" wrong, through hard statistical data that shines a light nice and bright on their inconsistencies. So bright, they tried to file a copyright claim against it in hopes to getting it shut down.

Scroll through this thread, I would love to see you rebuke Redneckerz Redneckerz thorough and well structured posts. Please do, I encourage you. Maybe it will be enlightening, and maybe not.

We have seen time and again from the site that they allow:
  • False claims of transphobia.
  • False claims of sexism.
  • False claims of misogyny.
  • False claims of racism.
  • Openly promotes hatred and death due to different political views (something you have admitted to doing yourself).
  • Silences people for having different views that do not align with the moderation team.
What did I expect from a Reseter other than to come in here with this disingenuous bull? Your points have been refuted time and again. There is a reason the site is considered a joke by almost everyone, as well as a reason why developers are shying away from conversing and engaging with the crazies that reside there.

But no, you keep on believing that they are the good guys fighting the good fight.

It in very bad taste and deserves to be punished, but I wouldn't put it above ACTUAL hate speech and other bigoted opinions. but thats just a difference of perspective.

No but it does make it rather hard to have an unbiased opinion towards them.

They are not infallible and there is a ban site dedicated to proving your "company line" wrong, through hard statistical data that shines a light nice and bright on their inconsistencies.

I know the site. I have been to it many times now. Like I said there have been quite a few unfair bans, but in my opinion they get it right more often than they get it wrong. Especially when it comes to the bans that involve racism and bigotry. Their zero tolerance policy for such things is my favorite stance that they take. There is no room for any of that archaic nonsense in a civilized society. People are of course allowed to have their ridiculous opinion on such topics, but people are under no obligation to give you a platform to say them or be forced to listen to them. Those people can go to The_Donald or wherever else people like that usually go these days. They don't want people like that on their forum and I don't blame them.

Like I said though I don't expect anyone to agree with me. I just saw your claim that they openly allow such comments and that the person wasn't punished and wanted to correct you. Carry on.

You act like this is our first rodeo. We know their schtick since we had to deal with it for years before they decided to take a dump (PornGate/Mass Bannings) on the way to making their very own echo chamber they can now 100% control.

I was banned for a history of misogyny, due to legitimately asking if the different social status' of female characters during that time had any effect on how easy their romance options would be in Kingdom Come Deliverance due to it's focus on realism and for thinking Jessica Price wasn't the victim. Take that as you will.

Yeah, the same site that was tripling down on the Price situation, and saying her own tweets, HER OWN FUCKING TWEETS WITH WORDS OUT OF HER OWN MOUTH... was, "false narrative" with banning people.

:ROFLMAO:

I was banned 3 time. A week, 2 weeks, permanent.

I was banned because I said I would not vote for Hillary and that I felt she seemed to portray that she deserved to be president just because she was female.- Sexism
Because I said stereotyping for any reason is bad - False equivalency of Racism
Because I said a MAGA hat wasn't racist - Downplaying racism.

I saw a guy say that Republicans and their families need to be subjected to a terrorist attack so they finally understand how evil they are - 24 hours

If anyone can explain it, good luck.

Edit: Sorry 4 times. There a month long 4th ban.

I got banned for saying that A "The Donald" Godfather shirt was not racist and the TC should not be shunning his father he lives with for wearing it - Month log ban - Downplaying racism. Arguing in Bad Faith.

I don't know if this is relevant to anyone but I just wanted to say that I like newGAF. I just came over from ERA and I have been on ERA from day one. I was not banned, I am just exhausted by the atmosphere and general direction over there. Posting there made me feel a bit of anxiety, as I wanted to express my opinions and take part in the discussions but I also had the fear of getting shitposted and dogpiled. The final straw for me was a thread about a report where Koichi Sugiyama (Composer of Dragon Quest) made some harsh anti-LGBTQ comments on some TV programme. Most people in that thread were very quick to wish him agony and death. I do not share the views of Sugiyama at all and I was pretty shocked at his comments but I was even more shocked about the hostility and hate in that thread and how it was even encouraged and trivialised ("He is 80+ years old anyway, so why be upset about wishing him death", I am paraphrasing here but that was the tone). I tried to calm people down and say that wishing him death and agony is basically going down to Sugiyama's level and we should be better than this...
I strongly disagree with Sugiyama's views but I would not want him dead. I would also not want to take his rights away to voice his opinion. I think an educated society can be strong enough to accept that there are different opinions out there (sometimes even extreme ones) and be able to discuss them and disagree with them and that's OK, as long as opinions are not forced upon others. But that thread kept evolving into this hatefest and people, voicing similar sentiments like mine, got banned and/or dogpiled on. And this was basically where I decided that this is not a place for open discussion. So I came here. I was a lurker since 2011 but somehow never made an account and after this place errupted, I went over to ERA because I felt that's where everyone was going.

So, I guess this turned into a small wall-of-text. Sorry about that. I just wanted to say "Hi!", basically.
Also, sorry if I made mistakes, my English is not quite there yet.

Welcome aboard! And I can assure you, as of right now and hopefully permanently, you will not have to worry about that same feeling of anxiety here. It is a breath of fresh air since they all left and made ResetEra. The mod team here has been on point in comparison. It is laughably bad comparison really.

The Reset ban aggregator is seriously some funny stuff to look at when bored. The network thing they made shows some interesting patterns.

Certain posters seem to be big time instigators in causing ban action.

They did the same on here too before they migrated over (I am sure you know). Now it seems a little more vicious since they have total control.

The node maps on there are extremely interesting.

I'll explain it. When you give a bunch of people who come across as lunatics who worship at the alter of authoritarianism some power, they continue to come across as lunatics and abuse that power.

I am just stating that is the most undeniable answer to the reason why in either direction as to one makes a choice. Funny how that is suddenly not respected, and thus people are shamed by them and their virtue signalers.

You should make that very same post in the 'Off Topic' here with no personal commentary, just the article data, and compare.

You wanna see the ban aggregator break down into tears before it overloads itself and burns the processor of whatever cpu hosts it?

Here's how. Go into this thread: https://www.resetera.com/threads/what-are-your-red-flags-during-a-first-date.58136/

And post "When she uses the urinal."

Poor taste (JOKE) I know, but the reaction would be legendary.

It's a different universe here compared to there, that's for sure :p

That's what it's about though. Having fun. You shouldn't have to walk on egg shells just to post on a message board. Many of us realize everybody has their own beliefs. There's nothing wrong with that. You can have your disagreements and still get along.

Liking the new Gaf so far. This is the Bill Mahar style of progressiveness. If no one from a political side can call out their own side when they feel like they are representing their causes badly, it sets a dangerous prescient for other things to happen. And I like that things can be more open now, as I've been hearing for years that it wasn't (and admittedly, believed it was and talked to others as if it was a cesspool for how much things can get out of control). From what I had read, some of the former mods who now infest ResetEra even undermined Evilore when he closed threads that the mods wanted open (seriously, when someone overrules THE OWNER OF THE DAMNED SITE...).

The idea, for me, had always been what in the world was in it for them? Why be THAT out of control with your political bias, and be THAT ready to pounce on anything that you think you see? What is the point? Who were they trying to impress, and who are they STILL trying to convince, and what are they convincing them of? I am a progressive person through and through, and even I can see when the authoritarian side is getting way out of control with no real way to tell them they need to slow their role a bit. We all agree about bigotry and racism and sexism being bad and all that stuff. We are just in disagreement as to what constitutes to an act of such, but that's THE hurdle that we just can't get past because of those like the people who are modding ResetEra right now.

Their main problem is that there's no clear definition of what their view of "sexism" or "racism" even means. They don't tell you but they expect you to know, and they will not hesitate to bring out the banhammer should you fall even one letter out of line. The Jessica Price thing is a firm example of how ResetEra tried to push their version of the facts (I think it's either here or on a subreddit that there was someone who recorded how ResetEra closed a few threads before settling on one, though only accepting those articles that took Price's side on everything as valid sources, and somehow accused Deroir of the entire thing). I get the motivation for equality, and I firmly stand behind it, but when you use those types of things as shields to deflect criticisms about your work ethic, and people let you get away with it, then things get dangerous in a hurry.

But yeah, I like the new Gaf so far. There are a few things I could recommend for the site, but I don't know if this is the place to suggest them. But yeah, it's already much better than what it has been known to be for years.

Ahhh someone still with their head in the clouds.

Doctors prescription
I would suggest you stop by here and have a read through the thread...it goes into the whole meltdown here last year...what caused it....what the mods over there originally tried to do and my personal favourite....the cash grab around page 359...https://kiwifarms.net/threads/neogaf-resetera.9636/page-364#post-3528413

https://kiwifarms.net/threads/neogaf-resetera.9636/

And then pop by here
http://resetera.kiwifarms.net/hot

Now once you have had a good read through both of those things come back and revisit your comments

It's true that a lot of people who were banned have probably come back here....these people are not far right trump loving tranny/women haters...they are individual people with different life experiences and different views on things
And you can see that from many of the posts in here.

It may not be as fast paced as over there but it's a safe...sensible and relaxed place to post now

The reason why this thread is so active is because it's like driving past a car smash or watching a train derail slowly...you know it's wrong to look but you just have too

Nice to see you 'return' to NeoGAF, Yoshi. I saw your resetera ban and of course it was unwarranted like countless before and since.

However, I strongly disagree with your assertion here. Brazil doesn't condone violence? Let's take a look again at what he wrote: 'they simply aren't worth the effort'. What does this mean? It's an easily overlooked sentence, but here's why it's actually important: what are the hypothetical consequences of that statement? "Not worth it". That implies a certain group of people is, what, damned forever? So what would happen to them in Brazil's end game, assuming he had a say in how the world proceeds? To me, it very much sounds like he condones violence here, because he gives up on certain people which implies that those can never be part of a functioning society, thus not be part of society.

This is actually typical for the auth left. I, too, was recently banned from resetera. Yes, I gave it a try, but it didn't last long. What did I do? I put neonazis and extreme feminists on each end of an opposing political spectrum. Ban reason was 'equating nazism with feminism'. Not only did I not do that. What I did makes perfect sense and it relates to Brazil's postings. Neonazis are terible because they openly want minorities or whoever doesn't fit their ideology killed. But here's the thing: the auth left/extreme feminists want that, too. The only difference to neonazis is that they're too cowardly to openly admit to it - of course, because admitting that would taint their pseudo good side-image.

In case you're asking 'how is the auth left in favor of violence?'. That's what I mentioned before: consequences. The auth left never talks about their end game, about what would happen to all the people they disagree with after their ideology wins. "They're not worth the effort", "deplorables" and then all the job terminations because of forced outrage over silly social media postings - the consequences here are that those people who dare favor different political views (to whatever varying degree!) are left ruined, homeless, dying. Not worth talking to, mustn't work any well paying job. Also no jobs where the auth left would have to interact with them, so even burger flipping is not allowed. No jobs, no social integration, no money for healthcare, no future. That's the end game of what people like Brazil, resetera user, Jason Schreier, etc. desire and push towards.

So excuse me if I so strongly disagree here, Yoshi, but I think you're turning a blind eye on the auth left.

@'this thread is embarrassing, stop obsessing over resetera':

Others have explained already why this thread is more active than most: It has an infinite, continuous influx of new material. But to add to that: It's important to understand that resetera isn't just another forum. Anybody who knows about resetera and isn't part of it laughs about these crazies. They're the laughing stock of the internet. "Arguing in bad faith" has long since turned into a meme and the damage for transgender issues these vengeful people have done is shocking. When questioning parts of transgender culture, people are banned for transphobia. Even perfectly normal views like 'trans women aren't real women' will get you banned. Everything is racist, sexist, and if you want politics to stay out of video games, you're called a gamergator - which is nothing negative to begin with. Resetera is a place where crazy people can pretend that their crazy opinions are mainstream. That's why it's so fun to talk about them. Not because neogaf is salty. No, even if this was an unrelated forum, we'd still have a thread about resetera, because it's too hilarious to witness their insanity. Just recently the word 'female' got outlawed. I mean ... wow :D

It's disappointing to see how many people feel the need to show up here and carry their water. You all have spent way too much time there, and the brand of lunacy that passes as status quo there has become your new normal.

Their mod team is a complete embarrassment, and to use one of Era's own argumentation tactics, if you agree with their general moderation approach, anything else you say on any related topic can pretty safely be dismissed out of hand most of the time.

Oh no, a nude woman in a video game! Game ruined, boycott, outrage!

It is so amazing seeing these people tell other cultures what they should do or not do in the content they create.

They think they're the "progressive" liberators, but they sound more like the overseers.
