Preorder canceled.

lol j/k, i will enjoy this game just for you OP.

Where's The_Mike at with his Sony games gets an 80+ bs?

Nintendo fans are humble, show me an example of a Nintendo fan not being humble.

lol, hilarious. The 2 "humble" Nintendo fans weren't so humble and got banned.

Uh, no. If you want to see a horrible score after multiple delays, look at Crackdown 3. It was a 60, in case you forgot

73 is fine. Not great, just fine.

Okay, now I think you're trolling lol
Where have I heard this before? Everybody with a dissenting opinion is a troll, I swear there is another game forum that works like this...
No, I honestly don't want to sour anybodies experience with the game. I hope everybody spending time and money has a great time, I really do. I'm a playstation gamer myself btw. But at least in my eyes, 73 is a huge disappointment. I'll leave it at that.

Hopefully this doesn't mean that Bend will close. It had some cool elements but I figured they'd just focus on the numbers instead of making a real survival game. I knew this game would be mediocre since the reveal trailer but I actually thought it'd review well.

Nothing about this game has looked right since day 1. But to be fair, IGN and Gamespot are hardly the ones to listen to when it comes to reviews. Might still be worth a shot, lets wait and see for more impressions.
They're both companies who hire "journalists" who don't even know how to play games. Chances are they rated it low saying one thing, but actually because it goes against their political narrative. It wouldn't be the first time..

IGNs main gripes were:

- Bad storyline, bad dialogue and cringy cartoony bad guys (their praise the main protagonist thou as being likeable)
- Repetitive environments, sparse areas with little interaction beyond copy-and-paste freaker nests.
- Little to no world building or meaning environmental storytelling.
- Repetitive missions (fetch quest, time sinks)

I expected these problems, however it is a shame that the story wasn't better. I really need a good compelling narrative to carry me through games like this.

I think your tolerance for Open World games depends a lot on how engaged you are in the world. A lot of these points can be attributed to many other open world games. But you have people who enjoy them regardless because they are so compelling. I really liked AC Origins and Oddysee, despite knowing that a lot of these points are valid for those games too. I just find Zombie-Oregon a lot less compelling than Ancient Greece, and that's okay. It is going to be different for others who feel the opposite.

Shadow of Mordor, Mafia 3, Read Dead Redemption 2, Horizon, Crackdown 3, Asssassins Creed. There are many people who hate these things in general, but find a lot to love about them in the open world games that really hook you in. So if you are someone who is really into this sort of look and vibe, you probably can overlook some of the repetition and problems.

I was worried this wouldn't seem up to snuff compared to Sony's other titles simply because they ain't never made an HD game before. Going from PSP/Vita to an open world PS4 game is quite the leap. Still excited to play it despite the lower scores but it will take time due to the massive backlog I have.

The reason I brought up trolling is because you equated a 60 to a 73. That's all.

And for record, I'm not even interested in this game. The trailers never hooked me and as I'm watching Twitch gameplay right now, it's still not reeling me in.

I mean Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, TLOU, Spidey, HZD, and GoW are all great games though.

I love a more traditional RPG, don't get me wrong.
It has gotten very samey though. Which is boring to me. Also, third person action games like Uncharted/TLoU are one of my least favorite shooter types.
So IMO, I hope Sony diversifies their catalog with a great FPS series, and maybe some type of big RPG (Horizon was close to this but was more RPGlite).

What I miss are games like Resistance, Socom, etc, and I would like to see Sony do a "Skyrim" type of large concept huge RPG.

There's some strong bias among these retarded journos going on for sure. Why do they shit on this game all of a sudden as if other Sony exclusives that received universal acclaim from the same outlets were God gifts to the human kind?

You wanna tell me that Spider man, Gow, Uncharted 4 were masterpieces with groundbreaking gameplay and mechanics? Dont make me laugh, all these exclusives were mediocrities incarnate, only for some reason they were praised to heaven and this game is not.

I cant figure out what's the deal with this, but something is certainly off

Maybe yes, maybe no. I don't think sony or the devs are satisfied with this score. In the eyes of many gamers, a meta score of sub 80 is a no go, especially at full price. I don't think that way, but I think that's just the way it is nowadays. A triple A, platform exclusive game with a metascore of 73? That sounds horrible, crackdown horrible even.

Depends on the kind of game. If the game is made to be critic bait, which most sony first party games are, then it is a failure. But if it is a game that doesn't cater to the tastes of critics, then it is fine.

well problem on open world games nowadays its being abused via game developers instead being a game positive remarks...like some used it for better mtx system to be used like on farcry or AC series while some used it to extend the gametime length just to feel the world itself and game itself is fun

zombie genre is pretty okay but on badside too much usage on it cause more lose immersion being on that world.....but on this one due zombie saturation or being same month with WWZ it created a negative impact
due WWZ is MP-wise game....while Days Gone is SP game thus EA's valid excuse can be used on this one
due MP is have more fun time than SP thus the aftertaste of WWZ created a zombie saturation issue on Days gone

I am guessing the stories targeted the tastes of critics, and the gameplay was more refined. But yeah, sony AAA tentpoles are never surprising or innovative.

Hopefully this is the end of the bland sony third person action game churn. Maybe Sony's studios can try something revolutionary like make a first person game, or an RPG, or anything other than third person action games with rpglite elements.

Yeah, those games are getting way too similar for comfort. There's only so many times I can endure walking around in the snow talking to someone/myself.

Nintendo fans are super humble.

When I wanted Netflix on Switch, they humbly explained to me why I don't actually want it and nobody actually wants it.

They also patiently explained the technical details, about how the presence of a Netflix app would cause the system performance to slow to a crawl. Not to mention the massive development effort that would take, diverting tons of effort away from game development.

Thanks, humble Nintendo fans!

I got a preorder with a deep discount so I don't care what reviewers think. They are unreliable because they care about pointless stuff and they have "agendas".

This is not funny because video games can't talk, your joke is the equivalent to paint drying. Please don't do stand up.
Ha! This guy! I know I'm not supposed to feed the trolls, but this guy is hilarious! Keep em coming.:messenger_grinning_squinting:

I haven't read/watched any review yet, does the game have a lot of bugs? Or is the problem something else?
I have watched some footage and it was very glitchy.

I'm not sure if this will be my cup of tea or not, but I never understand the crowd that gets riled up about review scores - high or low.

It's the content of the review(s) that matters to me, and matching up the content of many reviews and measuring that against your own personal preferences is what yields a good picture of whether or not a game is worth your personal time.

A number is just a number.

I've loved many games that had one or many poor scores. And I've disliked many games that were lauded to the moon and back by critics.

I always thought that the game looked kinda generic and boring overall.

That being said is this thread really necessary? if OP wanted to say how Days Gone and Sony fanboys suck you could just post in the Review thread of the game...

I gotta say, I am legit surprised. The game always looked like a five, but I've had that feel g that any Sony exclusive just gets a free pass.

Just not on zombie games I guess :P

Lol, saw the scores and instantly knew the sort of reaction it would get around here.

Aside from the hordes the game has always looked rather bland and by the numbers. And with almost infinite possibilities it also felt like a waste to have Sony use 2 of their first party studios to make post apocalyptic zombie games even if their focus is different

I thought the usual polish of their exclusive would at least take this to a low 80's metascore but it seems said polish isn't there.

Good thing is that even big hits like Horizon and God of War have dropped in price pretty fast so this is probably going to be under $30 within 6 months. I'll pick it up then

And I said this before reviews hit that if they get docked for these in an open world game, they are stupid. Assassin's Creed Odyssey received a 9.2 FFS from them. Go fetch me this, go kill me this person, go collect money from that person. Rinse repeat. This is why I don't let reviews dictate my purchase.

After looking at some reviews it seems like typical open world bloat. Suprised as I recall devs deliberately stating a strong continuous narrative experience with purpose. Seems the value=hrs misconception crept in, shame.

I didnt think the game ever looked 'landmark'. But the more I saw of it, the more fun I thought it looked. I hear the story is good and all, but gameplay takes some hits.

The scores are interesting. By comparison, Crackdown 3 received a 5 from both IGN and Gamespot. C3 certainly wasnt a great game, but the campaign was a fun time waster look and it ran pretty smooth and glitch-free (my exp on the X).

Either way, once I clear through some of my backlog, I'll pick this up on the cheap. It's worth a look.

Eh, the genre has been over-saturated since the turn of the decade. This is my own personal feelings on the subject but I wish the emphasis on having a good narrative would die already. Bend kind of shot themselves in the foot from the get go by making it about Jax Teller 2.0 which I'm sure interested absolutely nobody nor does it seem like a storyline that complements an open world zombie game.

Woah toxic and the game was an afterthought to many up until this month where marketing push happened. I'll stick to the goty GoW

Kotaku review complained about the main character being a White Guy

Waypoint complained about the main character selling a woman into slavery

Don't worry, there's a bisexual biker chick in the game who's in a relationship with a black female doctor.

The game can be pretty disappointing for someone expecting a similar cast to, let's say, Sons of Anarchy.

I personally found that one review text interesting where they said, it's now a complete different kind of game than it was a year ago. I hope someone will unearth what happened during the development of this one, as I don't think any of this went well at all.

I have been debating if I should trust the reviews and trade in the game once I get it (as I purchased it at 20€ with a tradein, I would get more than my money back) or play the game myself and decide, and I've chosen the latter. I see the reviews are really divisive (lots of 80+s and 60-s, with no clear middle ground) so I think most of the low-scoring reviews have a common issue - either the tech issues that are supposed to be solved with 1.04, either the plot or the open world aspects, which always have been polarizing... or something ulterior. So I want to give it a try.

There's also a bit of sunk cost fallacy here, not gonna lie.
