MMA General |OT| We just wanna bang GAF

Interesting first round with Ladd and Sarge. Ladd controlled most of round grappling but Sarge ended round piecing Ladd up.

First time in a long time I have seen someone be able to match Ladd's physicality at 135. Moving up in weight clearly was appropriate for Sarge and long overdue

edit

All Ladd in second round, smothered her with that grappling

Aspen Ladd is quickly becoming one of my favorite fighters. Her accent is super sexy too. She just goes in their and gets the job done.

She's very strong for the division and has a relentless grappling attack when she wants to. I am not sure how she will match up against someone like Holly Holm or GDR. Her standup isn't terrible but she looked very "hittable" tonight

Lee was much quicker to the draw in the first round. In the second round he seemed more intent on just grappling. So far in the third it looks much more even

As I wrote this, Lee got RDAs back lol

edit

and that back control didn't last long. Now RDA with the back.

I missed portions of the first and second while I was making dinner but from what I have seen I have it 2-1 Lee heading into the fourth, RDA gained a little momentum in the third tho

Ah, yeah was behind a couple minutes.

Lee has no excuses. No weight cut to blame now that hes at 170. RDA had the cardio and the grit. Lee has to work on that cardio, no excuses.

With this fight I have to file Lee into my folder titled "Good Fighters Who Will Just Never Be Champ"

Lawler Woodley 2 didn't really make the most sense to me anyway. Robbie looked like a man possessed before Ben got a hold of that "bulldog choke." Very curious to see who they give him as a replacement

I think Woodley never wanted it anyway

I watched that last fight night. Kevin Lee looked terrible after the first round. How did he gas so quickly

After so many straight weeks of great UFC fights it feels weird to have this awkward weekend of nothing. Still, even this lull aside, the recent UFC schedule has been so damn good it's hard for me to be too upset with a small lul. With Smith/Gus, i'm on board as those were two hopefuls that I though could maaayyybbbbeeeee defeat the Jones Maelstrom.

No idea how I am constantly missing this thread. I always see stuff and want to post but it is like evading me. Wanted to talk about Sage Northcutt ... dude gets a massive contract after being cut from the UFC for being a dud. Gets completely face blasted and I imagine ONE is rethinking a few decisions... choice of emissary , why did they hire, and more lol.

Also super stoked for one of my favs Yoel Romero. The dude is set and can probably just chill like Conor now lol. However, I do kinda think he has a hunger for the belt.

Conor needs to stop being a punk baby. Khabib needs a new manager. I really want to see actual attempts for parity in the UFC. However, I think the UFC is drowning from all the water it has taken in from the ESPN agreement. They need these big fights.

Also I want to emphasize that UFC deserves this downfall of recent times for putting Cejudo on top of a PPV after shafting my boy Mighty Mouse for so long.

Last thing, while I enjoy the Joe Rogan podcast tremendously. I do think he does a disservice to a lot of fighters that come on his podcast cause he constantly talks them way up. Example : Khalil Rountree, great guest and the guy has potential but he makes every fighter seem like they are fighting the cream of the crop all the time. Johnny Walker(SO WEIRD google auto corrected this to the actual spelling), the jury is still actually out on this guy. He has put out 2 spectacular performances but they were both short lived.

Yea I keep missing the thread too, life is just making it difficult to keep up with sports for me. I am really looking forward to the fights this weekend.

I'm really happy for Yoel as well. I'm also hoping this might cause these supplement companies to be a little more careful with their ingredients. It sucks when people are legitimately using products they believe are clean and still get punished. Not everyone is Jon Jones. 😂

I was a big Conor fan for a couple of years after hearing his story and it inspired me to lose a shit ton of weight and get myself fit again. That said I am soooo tired of his antics. He has definitely crossed the line from mental warfare to spoiled cunt. I'd love to see him keep his mouth shut and show up to fight next time but I doubt he'll ever be the same again.

Prove me wrong please!

That's gonna be a really tough fight for Spencer, even though she surprised most of us with her last fight. Glad to see Cyborg back. Shame that she didn't get her rematch immediately. Of the many champs in MMA, Cyborg's record and skill warranted a rematch compared to most other fighters. Shame that Dana doesn't really like her for whatever reason.

I have to think the only reason she didn't get an immediate rematch is they really want Amanda defending at 135 next.

First reaction is: Spencer is going to get stomped. Yeah, she owned Megan, but Cyborg is still another level.

That being said, I love the fight for Spencer in the sense that she has nothing to lose and everything to gain from this, and her grappling is very strong.

So after Aspen Ladd's last fight I said "I don't know how well she matches up with GDR or Holm."

Ladd vs GDR is the Sacramento main event, so I guess we are gonna find out.

People are unhappy with the card, in general

It could be a great matchup, just doesn't feel like a main. There are quite a few matches or fighters that deserve a main on these smaller events.

Also Danas reaction to that fan is on point with him being a major league dbag.

Prelims underway. Alvarez turns a takedown, a few elbows and abra TKO.

Stosic v Clark in a LHW match now.

Devin with the decision against Darko.

Good stoppage for Camacho, TKO at the end of the 2nd.

Main reason I identified GDR and Holm specifically as potentially bad matchups (skill wise) for Ladd is they are both probably part of just a few 135ers with the size/physicality/skills to neutralize or at least minimize Ladd's grappling attack and when it comes to striking, I mean Ladd is by no means an awful striker but she's clearly very hittable and not particularly explosive on the feet, GDR and Holm have clear advantage there.

If Ladd beats GDR it will erase my doubts of her for sure.

Wait the Stockholm card is already on? I missed the last start times

Edit

Tuned in right as chick got the RNC win.
