i watched their review of Star Trek Discovery Season 2 yesterday. it was insane to watch them count a total of 21 producers listed in the intro credits.

I watched this movie on netflix a couple of months ago and really enjoyed. I got my lovecraftian fix from it. Glad to see Jay talking about a niche movie that i actually saw it for once.

Fun review. I'm definitely of the opinion this was Carpenter's final good movie and watch it every year around October. Not that it's some great movie or a standout in any real way(And def has some dumb stuff) but it's very entertaining and fun to watch, which suits me fine.
I did kinda wish they talked about Escape from LA more. I had/have a similar view and am always severely let down any time I try to rewatch it. So hearing them lament over it for a bit there was kinda cathartic.

It definitely has some fantastic individual scenes. I don't think the movie as a whole is a masterpiece by any stretch but a couple of those scenes (kid/old man bike, diner scene, etc) I've remembered since watching as a kid.
Not sure why exactly Carpenter went so downhill.

You should. It does slow down a bit too much once the shit hits the fan and all the characters are trapped for a brief period (And Victor Wong's shaken-soda attack is super comical) but still holds up quite well and has a cool ending.

What else can Disney pull out the hat to actually make it somewhat memorable? They have to do something crazy to at least have something to make it stand out from other than being, A rehash of a new-hope and just plain bad.
If they don't then it will feel like the most pointless trilogy coming from the back of the most well beloved trilogy.
And this is coming from someone who has read a lot of SW fan lore and books.

Yeah this is on the mark. JJ is mediocre at best, not a single movie he has made has really impressed me. Yet he keeps landing these giant franchise deals. The Batman V Superman / Justice League guy??? Are they serious? Why is this guy still getting work? Those films were absolutely god awful.
It makes the time travel theory more likely tho. Justice League was a bad rip off of the Avengers, I could see him ripping off Endgame as well

Lucas is looking like a genius for selling this dead husk of a franchise for that amount. I haven't really enjoyed a star wars movie since Empire Strikes Back and that shit came out in 1980.
Why in the world would you get the writer of some of the worst movies in the last decade to write the end cap for a trilogy that has been on shaky ground since the first movie was blasted for just being a retread of ANH? Spend 4 billion on the franchise rights and not get some decent talent to execute it. Everyone involved in this mess should be fired.

Lucas is a pretty good business man,one of the best in fact. He got the Star Wars toy rights back in the day where no one would think how profitable this things could be. He created ILM, which is the backbone of the CGI industry. He knew,after the prequels, that Star wars had nowhere to expand and that the brand was bigger than its universe.
