CNBC why Xbox failed in Japan?

Japan is not an important market. The sooner MS realizes this and stop wasting money over there the better. The only thing they need to do is to make Persona multiplat and thats it. Or better yet maybe create their own.
Create their own what? Persona?

Wrong, streaming will take off, just a matter of time.
Since Virtual Reality is already taking off, and it is litterally impossible to stream Virtual Reality content, then we come to a quandary; either Virtual Reality OR game streaming is going to take off, but NOT both.

There is no place for Streaming in a VR future. Either local or nothing. You can stream content from other people, but you CAN'T have your own position data be processed in a data center and sent back to you.

As someone who believe in the future of VR, let me tell you that we are at odds. That only one of us could come out victorious. Game Streaming, or VR? Make your choice.

they can. obviously im talking about a game similar to it not actually the same IP...do i really need to explain this to you?
Some IPs have very subtle cultural aspects translated into gameplay, aesthetics and story that people from different cultures have a hard time to implement in their own works in a way that is as meaningful and as enjoyable as the one they try to copy from. Many tried to copy Gears and Halo but how many succeeded? Not even Bungie could replicate Halo's gameplay with Destiny. And lets not forget the last time Japanese developers tried to copy Gears with that disaster called Quantum Theory.
If any of MS's Western studios ever tried to do their own Persona game it would have been the laughing stock of the gaming community.

highschool RPG is IP proof. anyone could make it. add akira bikes heck make a Akira prequel in HS with bike gangs and you hit gold.

Bitch please, PlayStation was destroyed by Nintendo in Japan and Nintendo pretty much owned that country with insane market domination.

It's really not spying if you know about it. Everyone these days knows that google hoards your data when searching with their search engine.

Depends on which console, the 360 underperformed horribly too just like the One but it wasn't as bad and they had several niche titles that were great but were not home runs like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. It wasn't all big guns and blowing shit up.
It was still kind of enough for people to stop using it and go to an alternative such as DuckDuckGo.
Also about the 360, that was probably hands down the best Xbox IMO
Original xbox laid out the planning, but it was too underrated compared to the other 2. Xbox 360 was the one that shined. Do i even need to talk about the Mediaxbox one?

The 360's first few years felt it they tired pretty hard to appeal to the Japanese market with all those jrpgs, but I always felt japan wasn't gonna buy it because it wasn't Japanese, only people in Japanese I knew who got one was to play SF4 because it ran a lot better and the online wasn't total shit like the PS3 version.

So you still think phones are going to destroy consoles? hahahaha

People like you talk about how great streaming could be but the problem is how bad it is and how bad it can become at any time.... you talk about potential but I talk about reality.
The fact is that broadband and variable connection speeds and throttling, high usage times and many other factors can reduce the quality of this below what is acceptable quite a lot.

I completely agree with you, and am anti all sorts of this stuff, including Stadia.

Even given the fantasy future land where networks let you drop 200 GB to the phone in <5 seconds (and phones have that much capacity spare), you're still having to deal with the form factor of an at most 9" screen and no buttons.

Is Japan into shooters??? I think they like adventure RPG games mostly and the street fighter games. Its a culture thing like Kojima said. Tastes are different.
