Guys, Jason Schreier from Kotaku said in his latest podcast he heard several developers saying that both consoles are gonna be more powerful than an Nvidia RTX 2080 and that both consoles will be as powerful as each other, meaning equally as powerful, like he said for multiple times as of now.

This coincides with what Kleegamefan has been saying for a long time.

Interesting this is just catching on now. That podcast was over a month ago.

I find your overreaction funny. Almost like i said something about your mother or something lol. Some of you guys really need a break from these threads. Sorry.. not sorry

this has nothing to do with this thread, I just found your post funny and ridiculous. almost noone in the whole wide world bought an Xbox One or a PS4 because of the first party launch lineup, making it a bit weird to suggest that there is no reason to buy a new console that doesn't have first party exclusives.
  1. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  2. Battlefield 4
  3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  4. Madden NFL 25
  5. Grand Theft Auto V
  6. NBA 2K14
  7. Skylanders: Swap Force
  8. Just Dance 2014
  9. Disney Infinity
  10. FIFA 14
these are the launch window cahrts of this generation LOL

PS5 will have launch exclusive games. Good! But not all of them

So, back to 12-13 TF for PS5, BUT WITHOUT RT.

It sure looks like it will be, we didn't hear a thing since it got delayed... no word on how far back it was pushed.
Yea it seemed too ambitious for what current consoles can do?maybe they are having trouble getting it to work properly on current gen with every character being able to be played and having unique skill trees maybe?

Damn one of my good friends swears up and down he is stopping at ps4 not buying the 5, yet he absolutely loves demons souls... if they release gate this to the ps5 he is going to be crushed. But it wont be enough for him to buy a new console.

It does actually, low specs machines always hold Devs, if a GTX 1080 was more mainstream/more spread then you would have seen some amazing games already, it depends of $$ and since most people have a 2Gb/4Gb GPU...
According to Steam stats you are wrong. Lots of pc gamers have quite a good gpu.
Its going to be a fun generation I think.
Sony has nowhere near the money or resources that MS does. Its Just the way it is. I think MS has decided that gaming is going to be a boom industry even more than it has been. Google jumping in is another pointer that these big companies think it's worth investing billions in, and as MS has shown previously, they will spend the money to get what they want.
I believe that there will be a race to buy up studios to give companies exclusives which will differentiate them from other companies. With Google and MS throwing money around to buy up studios it's going to get pretty crazy. Google could buy up EA, Activision and Ubisoft and not even blink. So could MS. Sony has no chance at this game. They just don't have the money.
I dont think its good for gamers. When I saw Google jump in I thought that it wasn't going to be beneficial to gamers.
MS has hardly made a profit with xbox though.
If anything Sony will have more confidence to release a console at a loss.

I hate to be THAT guy but what would it take for 7nm RDNA next gen to be more powerful then the 12 nm 10 teraflop RTX 2080?

Just sitting around watching football having adult beverages and wanted more to talk about here :)

He must be lying because a lot of poster here says the Githut is the only real truth lol

I saw multiple posts asking for bans, and it was targeting Tim. Cut it out.
You're right since 2 does count as multiple, though you said that everybody was calling for him getting banned. You haven't proven anything in the actual sense or the "most people" sense. And yet, I'm supposed to just listen and believe just because you say so?

Also rather convenient that you don't address my rebuttals either, so you're basically just pushing an unproven assertion ad nauseam.

for real, anyone who bought the PS4 or Xbox One at launch because of their god awul exclusives they had at launch is either crazy or has really bad taste... Ryse? fuck no... Killzone Shadow Fall? lol nah... Forza 4 MINUS content also known as Forza 5? LOOOOOL!... KNACK!!!???? :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:
there was not A SINGLE worthwhile first party game on these systems for at least a year... so why did people buy them?

MHHHH, let's look at the sales numbers shall we? and we will see how the most bought games were Call of Duty Ghosts (Cross gen), Battlefield 4 (Cross gen), Assassin's Creed 4 (Cross gen) and some Sports stuff.
Killzone Shadow Fall and Resogun followed by inFamous Second Son was one if not the best launch window experience I had with games.

So yes exclusives at launch at really worthy to play.

My first multiplatform game was Destiny in September 2014... almost a year after PS4 launch playing only exclusives.

So you make some weird generalized claims lol

I mean, nvidia has a much better efficiency than AMD... that's why their GPUs perform better while having less TFs. But you probs know that HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 :p

Anyway beating a 10TF nvidia card would probably take more than 12TF RDNA from AMD.

Killzone and inFamous were average at best.

Resogun was fun for the first 15 minutes.

Launch titles are usually kind of mediocre.

I just found your comment funny... did you buy one of these consoles at launch so you could play one of the awful games I listed? LOL... I mean, you only buy consoles if they have good exclusive games at launch don't you? lol

The case made against cross gen titles is a weak one at best. But if someone tries to make the case for next gen launch titles that's when the roof falls on your head. LOL 😂

First wave experiences have almost always been bad, most of them barely memorable. So people shouldn't be brooding over cross gen games, they should be grateful that we have them.

I disagree.

Killzone Shadow Fall was only disappointing in MP... a big step down to Killzone 2 MP but the campaign was Killzone... so it was pretty good.

inFamous Second Son is probably the best inFamous games...it was way better than average.

Resogun is more like fun for15 hours lol

I am also having some whiskey. Looks like we are back at 12tflops again.

First off, I collect physical games. I was wondering, which of the two new consoles do you think will be better down the line for physical collectors in the long run once they've become retro?
What I mean is, with a hypothetical future of buying one of these consoles down the line which versions of games will have the most assets on-disc without having the ability for day 1 updates or patches? Will all the X enhanced updates just be a tacked on update to a barebones Xbox One disc?

Collecting physical is kind of meaningless if that physical copy can't hold up all by itself without an online connection.

I think the days of no day 0 patches are a thing of the past, primarily because of lazy developers who don't have the games 100% complete before they go gold. The ease of just correcting mistakes with a patch has ruined them I believe (and turned gamers into beta testers). :messenger_tears_of_joy:

There are rumors I've seen here (from one of the resident insiders) that Sony may have the more traditionally collectible games. (though there is a possibility I misunderstood what was being hinted at, the insiders here love to be cryptic)

Also, by MS's own admission, Xbone won't be part of the family forever, I wouldn't worry about it.

But they have the profits from their gaming division. MS has to look at what gaming has gotten them not just spend the profits made in other areas on it
Where does it say they can only use gaming division profits to buy studios? MS can use its profits anyway they want.
And if you think MS and Google will throw money around, just wait until Amazon announces they are going to do a gaming streaming system like Stadia. They are all vying to become the Netflix of gaming.
And Amazon will get into it. Amazon, Google and MS all have massive data centres, while Sony has to use MS to get into it.
Its a changing landscape.

So, they will make two AAA games both very optimised and fully taking advantage of the HW at hand in this potentially gameplay altering ways... so two full separate games, heck maybe using two different studios... sounds realistic . One of the two games would actually be an XSX exclusive though .

Interesting you quote for XSX a feature like VRS... also how there is no answer about CPU differences between XSX and Xbox One.
How do developers like Rock Star account for differences between an i9 on their PC version of RDR2 and the Jaguar on the console versions?

2.13
2 gpus
13 TF

Just like a certain "insider" here claimed. The date will be a reference to power
There is close to 0 chance to be dual-GPU.
The choose for APU is due cost because using dedicated chips for each task will make the machine a hell of expensive.

So dual-GPU means 2 separately chips and that will make the machine costs not good for the target price.

Single APU is the only option to consoles.

I thought my comment reeked of sarcasm...

im back from my ban from this thread. i didnt realize you could get banned on gaf. i have seen some crazy shit get posted here with no bans. i was clearly joking about phil dangling his dice over cerny's forehead but i guess thats one step too far.

now defending cross gen first party games should be bannable in a thread about next gen hardware. surely thats blasphemy. it's like buying a thousand dollar champagne only to dilute it with water to make it last longer. it's like paying for a $2,000 hooker then blindfolding yourself and pretending you are having sex with your own wife. it's like buying a $1500 rtx 2080 ti to play minecraft with ray tracing.

sony skipping e3 on the other hand would be the dumbest move since MS said they wont ship next gen games until 2022. its like both sony and ms are trying to out do each other on who can ruin next gen the most. i really hope its not true and the same goes for Matt booty's idiotic comments. maybe they are just fucking with us and sony has a reveal in 30 days and ms will have next gen exclusives at launch.
