RT cores can use for RT related audio and graphics. BHV search tree structure + branch can use for other workloads besides raytracing e.g. physics collision detection.

I love new hardware reveals, and this is a pretty great showing. If MS can bring the games (and I mean games that I like, not doubting their ability to bring out crowd-pleasers like Gears, Forza, etc.) I'll be there next gen.
I do wish they'd put paddles or equivalent buttons on their standard controller though. Saving that stuff for the Elite controllers seems like a bad move, IMO, especially since it would cost basically nothing to include.
If Sony has a box that's more or less on-par next gen but actually makes an effort to innovate with their controller (as rumors suggest they are), then that will be a pretty major factor in which console I go for first.
EDIT: On reflection, that sounded more negative than positive, when all I felt while watching the video was hype. I say again, great showing. Next gen is looking good so far. I hope Sony keeps the combo going.

Next gen will be great. The big improvement in specs and things like SSD will help move games along much better than 2013 or these mid gen refreshes, where most of the raw power goes to boosting resolution. Then whatever is leftover improves the rest.
I don't think any key devs (well except an indie) will attempt 8k gaming, which means they will focus on 4k, which is basically what we got with Xbox X already, where most games are native 4k or close to it. That means there's only so much power needed to top it off all games to native 4k. The rest goes to improving the game, which should be a lot more resources than Xbox OG and PS4 wasting most of their power gain over 360/PS3 for 900 or 1080p.
In a way, thank god tv makers haven't gone full apeshit for 8k where everyone lately has got an 8k tv. If that happened, I bet half the game studios would skip 4k and go right to 8k making these 12tf machines waste power on pixel count.
For sake of funneling more power to essential aspects of gaming, it's better for all us if tvs stagnate at 4k for a while.

XSX has additional CPU offloads such as decompression I/O and DSP audio (e.g. Atmos).
I think it's useful for comparing XSX with another console with a shader based RT solution. Wink wink.

The reason why I'm not fired up about "next gen specs" is because I've been gaming on superior specs for a year now.
If I'm a fan of anything, it's games. I have hundreds of games installed at any moment and own hundreds more. 1TB for "next-gen XBOX Series X" games will be limiting. People wanting to expand will be forced to but proprietary piece of hardware. And that's stupid.

I just find it funny that people really believe this is better than an rtx 2080. Of all companies outside of AMD, Sony and Microsoft, Nvidia would be the most knowledgeable about next gen consoles. It would be disingenuous for them to make a bold claim that the 2080 will demolish consoles in performance, and be wrong. The only people who have said otherwise, are random people on the internet. I'll definitely listen to Nvidia over random armchair internet "experts" on NeoGAF.

But video game forums have tons of insiders (combined with their imaginary friends) who have extensive proprietary knowledge. When you got probably 20 "insiders" with 20 different claims, and the one guy who got banned turned out to be right about SeX specs right down to the decimal (actually two decimals!) something doesn't sound right.
And when you combine the above with console gamers who think last gen's 720p/30 fps games look better than a PC, and then this gen's 1080p/30 fps looking even better, something's got to give!

It's quite easy to guess the SX speed based on the talk that was going around. Once you know 12tf, and 12.1 was assumed from like a year ago, there are only a couple of logical conclusions to make, and the most logical of those was 52 and 56 (and 52 based on past efforts and double the one x chatter) From there it's backwards math to get your speed. It's quite easy to do, to be fair. He wasn't even the first person to say that number. And couples with all the many things he did get wrong... I don't buy it. Now ignoring what I myself have heard and just going on as a person, that would count massively against the ps5 spec, too. Why would somebody know both, when 99% of everything else you have said turned out wrong? (Whats even more funny is that the rumour of 10.64 for ps5 was around November or so last year, and 10.64 x 1.25 is... 13.3, bang on. Plus when he gave his info, he gave 32kb l1 cache which is, you guessed it, GCN. How would he have 32kb cache and yet rdna figures? Think about it. So it's likely he simply took that original ancient 10.64 rumour and just rounded it up to rdna, and went with it, without any actual knowledge as to what he was guessing. The numbers add up too well, but they added up at a time that rdna2 wasn't a thing for either console. He later added rdna2 as a guess. So yeah, I don't buy it. It all smells bad. To me, it seems like he caught wind of an old rumour and retrofitted it for his needs knowing a 1.25 gain for rdna 2, but didn't actually know anything recent. That's why most realistic examples are so different. It doesn't make sense. What's happened is that he saw what others were posting (again) and posted it, changing it to be 1.25, without understanding if the original 10.64 rumour he read was accurate It would need a complete system rewrite.)

Loved it. Just as emotional and beautiful as the the first. A LOT easier though, sadly, and there was some technical issues that made me a bit puzzled at times, like if you move too fast after an area load the scene won't load in and you will fall through the ground haha.
But It's one of the best games of the generation, like the first.

Last gen. Next gen video cards from AMD and Nvidia will be even more impressive than current gpu's.
I don't think they cut any. I am waiting to see the cache details though, the relative cache performance between the CCX's will be interesting as its the only monolithic multiple CCX die that exists for Zen at the moment.

As much as I agree, that is shit to have proprietary piece of HW for storage, it was expected and I think that you cannot want to have some BFU to install fragile M.2 drives, since it would require some dissasembly, etc I think there is going to be some adapters for that as well, since you are not constrained by size. If it sticks out of the console.

. Anything above the 380 Billion intersection tests is fully software and all the RT code beyond BHV traversal is also running on the shaders... and it is extremely likely both solutions are just software twists on top of AMD's RDNA2 RT support (extra HW in the TMU's section of each CU).

And thats how it must be even if we got it wrong. The loading times will highly get affected if we're going to run games from an HDD
For example, before buying an external SSD for my X and Pro I had an external HDD for both them. Games loaded quicker when they were installed directly in the consoles so its definitely going to hold you back next-gen.
