NeoGAF is heating up!

Very happy to see this. I loved Gametrailers [rip] and GAF was the only suitable substitute [past crazy era] that I found. Heres hoping the members will triple by the end of the year.

While I don't post too much here (I'm more interested in PC-games and indies, not so much AAA, consoles or fancy graphics), I can say the community here is a lot more welcoming than extremist sites like Reeeera or RPG.net.

Came here running away from reddit.
There still some problems with console wars, but that certainly beats being called white supremacist for not agreeing Mordhau is racist.

I'd wager that alot of GAF's new identity are people running from liberal websites making them feel bad lol

This is the only issue with GAF i have at the moment. Discussions get derailed into shit way too fast.

I'm glad the forum has gotten back on its feet again. It's nice to have a forum where you write freely without having to stay clear of the politically correct mob and crazy mods.

People were being banned left and right for petty reasons. If a mod disagreed with what you posted, you could get perma-banned immediately, with zero chance for appeal or anything.

So things have improved greatly. It's not perfect, but most likely that has to do with the mods being overrun with reports lately due to the heated console debates.

It's great to see the numbers, you can definitely feel that the place is much more active and I have always kept an eye on the numbers out of curiosity... and all this despite not having an E3 this year.

I thank Evilore, the mods and everyone behind the scenes for creating such a nice environment for everyone here to read, discuss or even just lurk...

I'm sure there will be a lot of growth ahead as word spreads through the internet of what a good place it is.

Nice to hear. I don't do social media, so in terms of online interactions, Gaf is about it for me. I know message boards are antiquated to some (many? :P), but they're comfort food to me. Long live digital smoke signals. :P

On the sysadmin side, Gromph Gromph does back-end and Palliasso Palliasso does front-end. Gromph smoothly handled one of the largest forum database migrations in history when we did ours back in 2018, and Palliasso coded most of our custom functionality like our Twitch integration and Giveaways as well as our themes. They're S-Tier guys.

I used to go there all the time, now I will check it once a week for gaming news, then i realize there is no gaming news its only social issues in gaming news. I cant be bothered with that, i want to know what games are coming and when, not "well a trans black women created this game so lets all buy it"
 
I remember when it was impossible to get an account on NeoGaf... I applied a ton of times and kept getting denied... no idea why. Glad it's not like that anymore.

What a recovery: from a little more than 500 posts per day to over 6000 posts per day, and from an average concurrent online user count of 2600 to over 4000 (with many times more members online).

We have a great community here, a sane and relatively civil one where differences of opinion are welcome and people can debate with facts or memes, and we'll continue to rebuild into this new and exciting gaming generation of teraflops, SSDs, ray tracing, and VR.

I take ban appeals on a regular basis from people who were unjustly banned back in the day (typically from 2015-2017, the dark times when most sane people were being banned), and those guys are usually cool. There's a steady stream of new registrations, too, which you can see in the introduction thread over in off-topic. We see some "reeeturners," but they're often indoctrinated and not able to participate much without going nuclear ad hominem on everyone else. Some are okay though, and we evaluate case by case.
