Have a PS5 and Switch 2 and a XSX. Play my XSX more than the others. Have so many games from Xbox, Xbox360 and current games installed. Watch YouTube and apps on it and watch movies on it. So yes, I think Xbox has a future. (considering MS games will go MP and will make them bank. (Thanks Sony fanboys!)

There were already issues with XBOX, but the Activision/Blizzard acquisition was the an ultimate blow to the company and even the entire industry. The multiplatform games was the final nail in the proverbial coffin and Halo now coming to the PlayStation is just kicking the rotted corpse. Now they got a rumored $1000 to $1200 console/PC hybrid coming out next generation which is most likely going to be much more expensive than PS6. It's over.

I wonder if the likes of Apple might see an opening here to enter the console market? They've got an army of tens of millions of utterly braindead customers who will buy any old garbage with an apple logo on it.

As a traditional console in a competitive market, yes it's done . PlayStation now offers their own console exclusive content, a substantial amount of third party content and now Microsoft's content at a similar price point.

The sad thing is it should never have been allowed to get to this point but it has, by a lot of people.

One thing I will give some PlayStation fans credit for is , even tho there are zealots with every brand , a fair number from what I have heard and read over the years, would call out any mediocrity or people like Jim Ryan and none of this sunshine when it's raining bullshit .

So thar Discord leak was true?
Does anyone still have that screenshot ?
Well, of course it was. You don't plan this from one day to another. I can almost picture the scene:

"Thank you for calling PlayStation development department, my name is Chuck, how can I be of help?"
(…)
"Hmmm, hmmm, no problem. How many kits? Hmmm, hmmm. Very well I'm going to need the name of the studio and the company"
(…)
"EX-FUCKING-CUSE ME??"

So… something like that…

MSFT did such a piss poor job differentiating the Xbox Series S|X from the XboneX from the "worlds most powerful 4K console" nor did they give any incentives for xbone owners to transition into the series consoles. Absolutely horrible. Too many hands in the cookie jar, and the more I think about Magnus the less I am interested, what compelling reason could they have for you to purchase the next gen console except a pissing contest for having more TFLOPS, Compute Units, blah blah blah. Such a shame! This is like Deja Vu with sega saturn and sega dreamcast.

Never say never but yes.

Xbox now a 3rd party publisher.

I wonder if MSFT will eventually spin that business back out.

Over the next few years I think we see a significant number of 3rd party games no longer releasing on their platform. Projects already far enough along in development will still hit Xbox of course, and money hatted stuff, but any developer starting a new project has to seriously be questioning the economics of releasing games on what will be an ever shrinking install base.

My suspicion is to try to reach the masses, on top of their higher end Xbox branded PC box, they will try some type of cheap streaming stick option (AKA Stadia 2.0) but with game pass as the backbone. Not sure the demand for something like this but it seems the most logical based on the direction they are taking the platform.

I honestly thought the Gamepass and library buildup rule was with the understanding that they will bleed money on this for a decade till Cloud gaming matures and Xbox can compete again, this time with an insane library.

They maybe wrongly assumed the money they would bleed or changed direction to profitability given these AI development times.

Next actual Xbox console will tell us everything and will extinguish the remaining flame they got. Next would be their third failed generation in a row.

I was always expecting this path they are on now but I predicted it was still years away. I figured they would at least need mobile stores going along with software solutions for BC not just cloud streaming.
