Gabe Newell prefers Xbox Series X to PS5

One more thing, despite Tim Sweeny shilling for that $250m, he was offering praises to the PS5 only, he never did spoke of the performance differentials between the new consoles.

This shows Gaben dont give a fuck about political correctness, if it is better, it is better. :messenger_bicep:

In conclusion, lets not allow Halo Infinite noise to distract the coming of Series X. We can be sure other developers, third parties, can tap the power advantage it offers.
 
Games are still overwhelmingly GPU-bound, so ofc XSX is the better hardware. That doesn't mean a PS5 might not still be the better choice based on games & other factors. Chill.

I would have wished he gave more information as to why, but he probably can't.

Anyway, Gabe is a big MS fan, he used to work there and I get the impression he still has many friends inside the company... but this is the personal stuff, we can't argue with "because it's better" that can literally mean anything.

Geoff has a PS5 and offered to get one for Kanye West, you think the PS5 systems and dev kits aren't widely distributed at this point for higher ups and celebrities? We're only 4 or so months from Launch... of course everyone but general consumers have them.

To be clear, gabe prefering xbox is not going to save xbox or get more people to buy in. Youre kidding yourselves if you dont think MS has a long uphill battle, they havent done themselves many favors these past several weeks either.

Thats interesting. Gamepass is also on PC, so I guess he doesn't see Microsoft as a threat (at least right now). You know he would be changing his tune if that were the case.
 
I don't understand why some get triggered because of this tho. People are free to pick sides according to their own logic.
Also, neither of us will make a decision to buy one of the consoles based on what guys like Newell or Sweeney say because ultimately we let the games do the talking.

XBX is no doubt a powerful piece of kit (quite possibly more powerful than PS5 in some or most areas that matter). However.... it's all about the games. And to make great games you need great teams.

Correct. Also correct that Gaben's(🤣 couldn't resist) honest opinion, the XSX is simply better than the PS5. His heart likely pumps hardware and RAM instead of oxygen rich blood cells, this opinion was to be expected. Plus the only praise I've really gotten from the PS5 so far are the SSD speeds. Well that and most recently it's RT capabilities

A Lamborghini Diablo is better than a Ferrari Enzo to many. I'd still take either

Weird. The guy behind Steam recommends a Windows 10 device from Microsoft. The company who pretty much wants to release all their first party games with Xbox Live support on Steam moving forward.

He may be a god to PC gamers but he is completely irrelevant when it comes to consoles.... and Epic is a more pro-developer platform, with the support of Tencent, so I don't see Steam winning that one.

If you were so confident in Series X being so much more powerful you wouldn't try to be constructing such narrative preemptively, are you afraid if won't show? Show, don't tell.

...yeah no. I'm happy for HZD and Death stranding (hopefully GOW?) Finally arriving on PC via EGS to beef up it's content but steam stomps the dog💩 out of Epic game store. It's not even close. The UI, the community, the fluidity, where most streamers play their games, global availability, cheaper/more frequent sales and actual Content. Bad take. You're cool, you're great but that opinion is garbage juice

It's gonna be interesting to see the difference in multi plats. I think Xbox is gonna have that down like it did with x vs pro. It's up to them to show first party power and they are failing hard

I'm joking.... I prefer PlayStation by a lot compared to Xbox.
However I think Steam does what they do very well. EGS is fine too but I don't want China controlling anything in the west.
 
The console wars must seriously add multitudes of cortisone to some of you guys bodies, which isn't healthy in the least bit. There's no need to get so upset over what our Lord and Savior, Gaben has said.

I don't know, makes sense to me. Dude is mostly about PC and Series X is the more straightforward "PC style" upgrade.
Man, if this thread is any indication, there's going to be some legendary meltdowns when both consoles are out and (if) Series X performs a bit better in most multiplatform games.
