NeoGAF is heating up!

Again all because of Nintendo GAF. Great job guys.

There are dozens of us!

The 7 of us in the SegaGAF community look upon your dozens with envy :messenger_tears_of_joy:

But seriously, as GAF grows I'm sure the strange lack of Nintendo posters here will eventually balance itself out. Some of them can be obnoxiously fanboyish though, so you'll have to keep them in line as they come on board.

I'm new around here but posted on Gamefaqs long ago and ResetEra because that was the active place at the time. With the mess that RE has turned into I was looking for a traditional forum - the only reservation I had about NeoGAF was activity. But it's definitely livelier than I expected and even though it's not as fast moving as RE, I prefer it here and will do my part to help.

I kinda stopped visiting ResetEra and NeoGAF at the same time when ResetEra started. I've come back recently and have started posting more and really like what's going on here. I think I went to Reddit for a while but that place is not much of a community.

Always nice to see GAF on the up but with how much it explodes right now with the Sony event it actually makes me not wanna post cuz everything is moving too quick.

I got into this site initially in the late 2000s but I couldn't post because I didn't have an institutional? email. Someone recommended this place while in the Megadeth forums.

Fast forward a few years and in 2012 I figured let's try my university email and to my surprise it worked. I still didn't post much but I was happy I got to lurk "officially". I remember this being the first place I came to see how the gaming community reacted when the PS4 and the Xbox One launched and have fond memories of reading all those threads back then. This forum brings me back to those great years.

I stopped gaming for a few years during uni. Eventually I remembered this place and was pleasantly surprised to see it still alive and kicking!. I finally decided to start posting and becoming an active member of the board after 10+ years :messenger_halo:.

I missed all the controversy, the split. I've read up on it, I've gone into the other place to see what's going on, after doing that it's safe to say that A) I'm glad I missed all that bullshit drama and B) I'm happy where I am.

I guess with all this rambling what I wanna say is thanks to EviLore EviLore and the team for keeping the essence of a better time in the internet alive, in this very forum. Congratulations that things are on the up! Here's to more years on years of success.

But also that policy requiring a "non mainstream" email to create an account can go suck a big fat cock. I don't even think I have access to the email I signed up with anymore :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Nice 👍

How does the members/guests ratio compare to previous years and does that provide any insight into trends? Or is it mostly random and a relatively unimportant analytic?

We've always had a lot of guests relative to members, but that only became a problem when all the members left. :lollipop_downcast_sweat: :messenger_tears_of_joy: The active member count has been steadily improving though as we can see.

We now accept gmail emails et al. It actually became a big problem to email people for the Ban Justice project to let them know about their accounts since everyone's old isp/academic/work registration emails were defunct. Mostly it was a way to prevent spammers and trolls from having multiple accounts easily, but we have modern tools to address that now, so I opened it up to standard freemail.

Did you just call me a modern tool? You'll never guess my secret identity.

(If I weren't so lazy, I'd log out, create a new account, build my icon with a goatee and reply to this thread)

Imagine a forum where you can be excited for a Harry Potter game

Imagine a forum where it is ok for men to appreciate women's appearances

Imagine a forum where you can talk about the latest Joe Rogan podcast

Imagine a forum with a public ban register

Imagine a forum where you have a Like button for posts

No worries!

I figured it had to be something like that and that's fair enough of course, my teenage unemployed brain couldn't figure out a workaround. I mostly thought "damn, these people really take their gaming forum seriously" back then :messenger_grinning_smiling:

On that note, I suppose there's a tool to change my email address? In all honesty I've been too lazy to look around but I guess I need to fix that sooner rather than later.

Yeah, here on your account page: https://www.neogaf.com/account/account-details

Glad to see its gonna be around for a bit longer, i was a lurker for many years then the site imploded with the great exodus and then i got bored then i came back and would browse both this site and.... im embarrassed to admit it... the other one but it simply came down to this, the community on this side of the norm allows debate from all sides with every cunt and their dog throwing in 2cents whereas that other fuck nugget collection of fucking wierdos would all jump on some bandwagon like the fucking borg loons they are and insta ban cunts for going... hey maybe its not as clear.. BAN! anyways good stuff EvilLore, genuinely glad to see you and site bouncing back and going from strength to strength

I'm a huge Nintendo fan. Please tell me what I can do to be more annoying about said fandom.

- Join the Nintendo thread
- Defend the new Mario collection to the DEATH, you are allowed to shit on the Spyro and Crash remakes if you have to, leave no stone unturned.
- Go into the current game of the generation tournament threads and spam about how BOTW will win easily.

I think that about covers it, good luck my friend.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan. Please tell me what I can do to be more annoying about said fandom.

- enter every new game announcement thread and state that said game would be "perfect for Switch", and then proceed to port beg like crazy
- claim that Nintendo created every new genre and innovation in the history of gaming
- rage at any reviewer/forum user who dares give any main Nintendo franchise less than a perfect 10/10 (applies especially to any Mario or Zelda game, for lesser franchises such as Pikmin and Splatoon a 9 will suffice)

Thankfully NintenGAF is pretty chill at the moment, so that kind of stuff doesn't really happen here. Even when Nintendo got a lot of flak for the recent Mario All Stars 3D game, I didn't see anyone go into full fanboy defence mode.

Once the inevitable implosion of resetera happens please don't let any of their lefties Nazi mods be able to post on this site again, or give them any moderation power whatsoever.

I don't want this site to become the old neogaf again

Its so good to see people realise the state of reset era and come here for good fun and video game chats!

Congrats everyone. Looks like neogaf still thrives even without the presence of those looney bins from the other side who gets offended over everything. It's always nice to talk and argue about games without the fear of getting banned or get mob attacked if you go against the hive.

Glad things are starting to come back to normal.

I've always loved this forum but took a break after it turned into a shit storm. I've dabbled at the other place, but it's honestly a joke and the heavy-handed moderation is seriously mind-boggling. On top of that, the super woke SJW give me the shits.

I'm here to talk about gaming and enjoy myself. NeoGAF is definitely the place for me.
