Now that our hobby is about to get more expensive, will you all go along?

Personally, I rarely if ever paid $60 for a game - I almost always wait for a sale. So, $70? Nah.

If it's something I actually want to play then yes, if it's something I'm not sure I'll wait. Gotta support the devs if you enjoy their work IMO

Try €80, lol. And yes, I'll pay it I guess. I don't like it, but it won't ruin me. I really only buy games I'm very confident I'll love, and even with this price hike it's still a good value relatively speaking. Games nowadays are pretty amazing products.

If it will kill time limited gamepasses, paid cosmetics, time limited seasons and other F2P mechanics I'm ok with it.

But I don't believe that it is possible.

I'll always look for cheaper. The thing that's gonna suck is when AAA titles inevitably become $70 on PC as well. But the nice thing there is that there will always be multiple marketplaces providing lower prices.

I dont recall the last time I pay 60 dollars for a game. Gamepass era I guess. 70 dollars? Uf, only if its a completely must have, something like Halo in my case, or... yeah, just Halo and nothing else.

I haven't bought any full priced games this generation for myself, just one for someone else. They're probably going to depreciate more or less the same way, so just wait a few months and stop paying a fortune.

So I'm not bothered by the 70 dollar games. It's just keeping up with inflation, and the folks who do pay full price take that hit for the industry.

In most cases of those 70 dollar games - not indies or independent teams- you are not supporting the "devs", most probably you are supporting shareholders of multinational corporations.

As someone who doesn't need to play new games on day 1, I seriously doubt that I pay $70 for many games. On sale for $40 will probably continue to be my sweet spot.

New games on the PS Store where I live are already closer to $80, and have been for a good while. Not that I'm buying them, but still.

I don't think PC players would accept $60 for the base version of a game.

Thank God for Gamepass.

I foresee myself purchasing a lot less games this next gen outside of Nintendo exclusives because of it + the $10 increase.

It won''t be the end of anything. I mean if Sony Playstation dies we can always get jobs virally marketing gamepass...

If it goes down the way it was the last two gens around here (central european country) then the de facto price increase will be more like 5 instead of 10 Euro. I barely can remember buying a game at or close to launch and paying full price, Almost always at least one shop had it at a small discount between 59.99 to 64.99 instead of the recommended 69.99. So i wouldn be suprised if now we end up paying those 69.99 in the end. Plus afaik every publisher can set their own prices (as well as the retailers having some leverage). Digital is a different story of course, but given the fact that there is basically always something "major" on sale (at least now, depends how it will develop for the os5)...

But personally i´m not too bothered, the place where i reside has a very good public library system with a main hub and branches all across town, and even though they have mainly books, they usually have every game that releases in a physical form across all three major platforms (starting from the wii/ps3/360) at least allocated once around town. More popular ones get out to more branches. yearly fee is 18 bucks and renting for 6 weeks is for free. if i want something specific that has to be reserved and transported to a branch colse to me it costs 1 euro and then again 6 weeks rental free. new releases usually are available couple days after the release.
It is one of those extremely rare occassions where a public service is really great and beneficial.

I've not payed 70 yet and never will be.

Got valhalla for £40
Outriders £40
Spider-man ultimate edition £60
Demons soul will be £60
And maybe godfall for £60

Gamepass will be a god send also, will definitely be playing the new yakuza on there.

Cyberpunk 2077, God of war 2 and forza horizon 5 are the only games I know of that are coming out that I'll pay full price for.

Everything else is sale purchase

Depends on the game, but Hell No, for the most part.

No fuck the gaming industry of these days...

The only exception is Demon Souls and thats because i want support Japan Studio...

They can suck my balls but i will get the games for 20$ dollars and they have to give me the thanks for that.

In the end we have to bet your money on what Sony have done to make things better for us throughout the years or what Mircosoft have done to make things better for us throughout the years. We all know the history.

It's really easy to tell what type of game I'll enjoy or not nowadays by trailers and gameplay. If I know I'll like it, then I'll purchase it.

I never pay full price. This gen or even the last. So $70 a game doesn't really matter to me.

Waiting to buy a game has only benefited me. Case in point; one of my favorite games was Doom 2016. So when they announced a sequel, I got really excited but didn't want to spend $60 on it. Played and completed other games on my pile of shame instead. And now fast forward to today. It's on Gamepass and I can play it for a fraction of what it originally cost. Win.

I'm surprised that nobody actually saw this coming. Anyways, I don't pay $60 for every new game. Only the ones that I'm really hyped for. I'll continue to do the same with the new price

One last thing before I go

There's only been a few titles I bought full price during the current gen, mostly just to support the Developers. I probably would have waited otherwise
