I will do what I did this gen, I pay full price for games that I'm interested in.

Same.

I'm going to do exactly what I did this gen. Buy about 3 to 4 games new a year, used for everything else or sales. (or dat PSN Plus freebie)

Same. I think I rarely buy 4 or more a year, I did a lot a few years ago but have less time now. I can already see a timeline of what I'm buying next year. The only 4 full priced games I'm getting are RE8, Horizon 2, Battlefield 6 and God Of War 2....IF it even comes out next year, if not...I'll find something in fall 2021 lol
A few years back I started a spreadsheet. When a new trailer for a game drops I put it in the sheet. Often the game is digital or only on a platform I don't have. Then I'll see it come out on physical or a platform I have and I'll be reminded.

cadence of hyrule is getting a physical this month (with the dlc) and Ori on switch getting a physical release too.

now that I'm an adult with a job the backlog is real and I can ride the wave of PS4 and Switch titles while playing whatever multiplats on PC. It's an abundance of riches for a gamer really.

I am only willing to pay 80€ for a very good game without any microtransaction and DLC bullshit. 80€ will just make me even more picky than I already am.

Vote with your wallet. They are going to be watching the first wave of these game sales like hawks.

If you suckers buy this shit because you can't keep it in your fucking pants for a month or two for these games to drop in price (like they always do), you deserve the shit pie they are serving. this isn't a poor or rich thing. This is a sensible thing.

Do you really want games to cost 70 dollars when they already include day one season passes and microtransactions. That's not going away.

There is no benefit to paying more money upfront in an industry that's already profiting more on the tail end. None of the things that make games shit are going away and they arent going to passing the money on to their workers. It's 100 percent a cash grab.

Who is pushing for 70 dollars? An nba game that has become increasingly like a casino and a platform holder who takes in money off of every game sold on their platform. It's no one who just makes honest to god good games but can't afford to keep their business running.

These people don't need your extra ten dollars, they want it. Don't give it to them. It's no wonder games like godfall are already saying they won't be pushing 70 dollars on pc and nintendo isn't doing it, xbox is saying let customers decide what they want to pay.

Full on playstation fanboys being fucking retarded are going to decide if other companies push for this. Honest. Let's remember where to point the finger. Just like how xbox paved the way for paid multiplayer. Remember that? If you are buying 70 dollar games, fuck you.
I was going to suggest that everyone should buy the PS4 version of Miles and get the free upgrade, just to protest the price hike, but then I realized they are charging the same for the PS4 version.

So it's not a next gen tax, it's just a straight price hike.

Now that you ask, I'm not really sure. I assume so, but they sorta don't even have any first party titles even coming out this year or even next year that are only coming to Series S and X to even know. They said something about the next few years of them continuing to make XONE games and put them on Series S and X so.......who knows.

They simply don't have enough if any first party content only coming to those devices to even know what the price will be.

What? There are actually many new MS games releasing on Xbox?! Even at launch Gears Tactics will be released and yes it's a new game releasing on Xbox Series S/X

You can preorder it now for $59.99

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/gears-tactics-xbox/9pfn8j3v7g54?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Which is fine, I guess. Still not seen any $70 MS game. Let's see what Flight Simulator will cost, which is a huge AAA game.

And the $70 price Tag does apply to Sony cross-gen games, right?

Who said new MS games where not coming on XB? My fault as I should have been more clear.

"they sorta don't even have any first party titles even coming out this year or even next year that are only coming to Series S and X"

ie ONLY COMING TO SERIES S and X

So Gears Tactics is also a XONE game which explains that price tag...

"Still not seen any $70 MS game."

Yea still not seen any MS game that is only for Series S and X.... so.....

"And the $70 price Tag does apply to Sony cross-gen games, right?" Not really sure tbh. The only ones to my memory are Spiderman and Horizon. I don't see that Spiderman carries that price and have no clue with how they will do with Horizon 2.

So we'll find out when they have pre-orders for Horizon but I expect $70 for the PS5 version and $60 for the PS4 version or simply both $60 and a free upgrade for PS4 to PS5 like they are doing with Spiderman.

Edit. oh yea I forgot

There is another cross gen Sony game. That sackboy game.

So doesn't look like Sony considers cross gen titles as having that price tag.

So it sounds like the only games listed at $70 outside of special editions are also the games that can only be found on PS5. So now looking at it, Horizon might not actually be $70.

So your evidence is that cross gen games are the same next gen price on PS4 and PS5( 69.99) but cross gen games are the old pricing on Xbox (59.99) and you are upset about this?

This proves something?

Fast forward 10 years.

Random big publisher PR person:
"We're trying to bring you the highest quality assets.
This is suuuper expensive to produce.
We're really grinding our teeth here and can barely pay our staff or managers!

Therefore, we have decided - and we're sure you'll agree - that $120* for the basic edition is more than fair to allow us to continue to produce our high quality.

*games might include minor microtransactions to enhance your experience"

The price increase doesn't bother me. I'll still buy games I'm hyped about at launch, or ones where I think the multiplayer player base will greatly diminish shortly after release.

That's the main reason why i first go for Xbox. Game Pass saves me a shitload of money. In 3-4 years i get a 199 bucks PS5 and most of the games for 10-20 bucks. Since Sony mainly goes for singleplayer there is noting to miss if i get them a few years later.

i will buy at launch real triple AAA games like god of war, will wait for the rest, and gamepass for me its a aftertouch, the games i play dont are there, call of duty, ubisoft ones

It's a real bummer for me. I understand rising prices are inevitable but a jump from £45 to £70 is just pure greed from Sony. It honestly makes me want to withdraw my support and make XSX my primary console.

Even greedyass Activision are only charging £60 for COD. Valhalla and WD are £50. Why the fuck should Destruction AllStars be £20 more?

I've not payed 70 yet and never will be.

Got valhalla for £40
Outriders £40
Spider-man ultimate edition £60
Demons soul will be £60
And maybe godfall for £60

Gamepass will be a god send also, will definitely be playing the new yakuza on there.

Got a link buddy? Cheapest I've found those games is £65.

Buy 2 for £60, you get £70s worth, so it's always £60 a game. That's digital. Brought from there all generation. Theres other sites like cd keys and eneba to which sometimes have them even cheaper for playstation network credit.

If you want physical it's best to have a look on hotukdeals and type in the game your after and keep an eye on there as deals always pop up. I got assassins creed valhalla physical on there for £40 earlier this year and last time I checked outriders is still £40 at base.com for ps4 and xbox one (with free upgrade to ps5 and xbox sx for them 2 games)

Well, just paid 35€ for Star Wars Squadrons in the official xbox store (+ 4€ back through rewards).
I know this is not a AAA game, but that is more of a price I am willing to pay at launch for a game (maybe up to 50€). Else I just wait until the games are cheaper. 70€ (including taxes) is normal for new games since ages and I really only pay that price if I really, really wanne play that game day 1, which doesn't happen so often. There are always enough other games to play.

People, calm down.

I paid 80€ for my Conkers Bad fur Day on it's Launch day.
Prices will drop, no need to panic

I've seen this sentiment alot (I also paid £79.99 for Turok back in the N64 days) BUT I've never seen the price drop back down on any digital storefront. The UK got two prices rises this gen £55 ($71) and then £60 ($78) now were starting at £70 ($91).

It's one thing paying $70 for games, but I feel it's just salt in the wound when they throw in overpriced DLC, season passes and microtransactions everywhere. Fighting games will easily cost more than both PS5 and XSX consoles combined if they have their way next generation.

What makes it even worse is sony made games were always cheaper on the psn store as they don't have to pay the 30% fee to themselves. There prices have been raised the most. I'm not liking the new leadership much but we'll have to see how there games pan out over the next year or 2 to see if it's worth it.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact I'll have to get both consoles this coming gen. If Sony keeps down this road it will just be an exclusives machine. As a customer they will see FAR less revenue from me than had it been my only/main.

It's 80€( 94$ ) and no, I paid maybe 3-4 times the full 69.90€ this gen and rest 60-80 games I bought physical were from sale/used.

50*80€ would mean I won in lottery.

Better to wait week or three and get used one for 30-40€

Technically I don't mind for Sony exclusives, almost everybody else can kick rocks tho. I usually get deals day one on physical games anyway and I expect to be paying like $60 like was paying $50 day one most of this generation.

I think if you want to see less crunch and diverse genres of games then extra money will facilitate that. I hope. Also, we've had a good run with prices, inflation dictates there has to be some increase. Though 20 bucks in one hit is a bit much.

Now that our hobby is about to get more expensive, will you all go along?

Personally, I rarely if ever paid $60 for a game - I almost always wait for a sale. So, $70? Nah.
Games are getting more expensive to create, 100 million+, so that justifies it.
You guys got it lucky to only play $70.

Where I'm from it 1 USD to 2 of my dollars.
A new PS4 games cost us 95USD, PS5 game will most likely be 110USD for us.

I don't get why you guys complain bout $10 increase for something with such high replay value.

Support the Developers and continue to get awesome games.

As always, depends on the game. Plus trade ins or promos can makes them a bit cheaper. There's only a handful of games i know i want asap, other than those i don't mind waiting months.

It'll be $98 instead of the usual $79.90 here in Singapore but I'm fine with it.

Games that I want, I'll get it day one. Games that I'm on the fence on, I'll wait for a discount.

Part of the issue with this increased pricing is it's coming at a time when much of the world is likely to enter a depression for years to come, Gamepass-type subscription models are going to look like much better value for the money. Then again maybe inflation will make $100 the new $60 anyway.

I remember not long ago getting newly released AAA games here in Canada Best Buy / Future Shop for $10 off, so oftentimes got em for $49.99 CAD. I haven't bought any games in a long time and to my horror found out that they're now $79.99. Lamented about it to a few buddies recently and they said "lol where you been bro, they've been $79.99 for a long time". Yikes, and they're gonna be even more expensive this upcoming gen?

I'm really not getting anything for a while after picking up my preordered XSX, Cyberpunk, and signing up for Gamepass.

Should change title to 70 usd for PS5 games, as nothing indicates Microsoft do the same.
they do it on Steam though, but we don't know if they do it on Xbox. Gears was 60 euro on xbox but 70 euro on steam.

I love that people were talking shit about being okay with spending 6-700 dollars for a console "like it's nothing" are now suddenly offended at $70 lol.

This and the PCMR crowd dropping in like they don't spend absurd amounts of money on hardware. Any games savings will have been blown 200 times over for the rig it's played on. If $10 is your breaking point on something, you probably need a new hobby.

Nope! From the U.K. and they're £70... which is around $90 which is a joke.
£55 (which is $70) is much more reasonable. It's a piss take. Especially as they'll still bombard you with season passes, dlc and loot boxes.

There are certain games I would pay that for.. but not many.
If anyone pays $70 for an EA Sports game they are on crack.

$70 is way overdue and I have no problems with it. The catch is, I don't want rhe raise in price AND more microtransactions, pay-to-win, loot boxes and in-game advertisements.

Try €80, lol. And yes, I'll pay it I guess. I don't like it, but it won't ruin me. I really only buy games I'm very confident I'll love, and even with this price hike it's still a good value relatively speaking. Games nowadays are pretty amazing products.

Official euro price was €70 but I always paid at least €15 less online. So now I'll have to pay €65 for brandnew games. Or I could wait a few months and see those prices fall like autumn leaves in the wind.
