Next-Gen PS5 & XSX |OT| Console tEch threaD

Sony clearly has hardware features that are an alternative to AMD's offering. Microsoft's marketing in that area around RDNA 2 is pretty silly.

Nobody has any clue right now which is better, and the talk of whether it will show up in RDNA 3 is just silly lol

But the results... well they appear excellent.. so there's a good chance they ARE better. We just haven't seen much next-gen shit from XSX to compare it too though.

edit: I see RTG said it was leaked to him that some of it is RDNA 3 which is cool.. but again I'd still wait for confirmation.. and in the end.. just wait to see how games look and perform.. and Sony exclusives at least are baller.

I hope so, I wouldn't even be questioning it if it wasn't for that damn *Digital Deluxe Exclusive thing :messenger_weary:

Being RDNA2 does not mean anything to me, I have seen what I have seen and learned that it is not a complete hardware philosophy, only specific points of it. So it is actually used to measure compatibility but it is not used to evaluate or establish a performance range. So it is also useless to say RDNA3 because it is not linked to the performance of the system, for that you have to name the other characteristics such as infnity cache.

What matters is the hardware, how it works and how it performs, the rest is only compatibility with APIs (no one guarantees that there are no better or worse in another system) so we can only advance in hardware or get involved in looking at patents and die in it. tried.

However I want you to read it because PS5 is what is being talked about.

I'd say there's little reason to believe something would change between RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 without it being an improvement.

Could be performance, or could be efficiency.. and efficiency IS performance for power constrained devices like consoles as it means you have more watts for something else. So are cost efficiencies as it allows you to spend on something else.

You do realize you're getting the entire core experience of what was available on the PS3 right in the PS5 remake without any cut backs on the standard edition. These are Digital deluxe benefits. On the standard edition you're getting everything that was there on the PS3 version, Tamoor Hussain confirmed it in his interview with Gavin Moore!

But you could also make hardware compatible with all RDNA3 compatibilities and avoid parts of the hardware for performance improvement.

In the end you would get an RDNA3 console (compatible with their APIS) but at the same time with a lower hardware performance.

So you can comment that you are RDNA3 and perform poorly.

So seeing that being RDNAX serves to measure compatibility with APIs but it is not a hardware philosophy or a specific hardware architecture. From my point of view being RDNAX does not guarantee any kind of performance.

To find out you need to see the hardware, see the amount of CU, the caches, and see how the set performs. So RDNA300 can already say that if they do not teach me the hotchip and at least it works for me, it does not mean that it will perform better or worse.

This GPU is RDNA2 and this GPU is RDNA3. Which one gets better fps? If you don't show me the hotchip, I just don't know. It could be an RDNA3 with 54 CUs with all the compatibilities but all the CUs included in a single shader array and with a dwarf cache. but it would be RDNA3. And yet it would be rubbish.

RDNA2 rightfully has been described as just name association for a collection of features.

A console may take some out and replace with alternate, likely even better future looking features. Otherwise why bother.

At teh end of the day, XSX has a 20 % bigger die for an APU, it remains to be seen how that bigger die performs compared to ps5.

If the difference is less than the additional space used, then that is a ps5 efficiency success. Not long now. "lollipop_disappointed:

Weren't those armors in the original game in PS3 version? i don't remember all armors names but like Boletarian Royalty Armor seems familiar to me.

~Aye, plus if it does turn out to be better, it's not like its a total lose for xbox people as the technology will probably be available to use when and if Microsoft makes their next upgraded console.

These efficiencies in engineering are never wasted.

You took off my emote "lollipop_disappointed: , I hath claimed it to Geordie

What's important is how efficient my juices are. How much can I fill up sircaw sircaw ; will he stall, will I miss? Hard to say, I spent a premium for his regular ol juniper infused variable ass shading so I better fill him up nice and deep like.

I could have told you that without getting "info". One is hardware bespoke solution that affects the entirety of the console's pipeline, the other is a software feature

Wanna bet, that "developer" who gave him said "info" will never show up in his podcast "later this year" ? :P

5.5 vs 2.4, simple.

"lollipop_disappointed: is my personal emote on this forum, other wannabees have tried to use it but they have failed.

LOL!

Oh, OK! I get it. Hmmm.. maybe I'm not using enough of these. Soon, I hope to find out more about Sony's Cooling system(🥶), Haptic Feedback systems (💆‍♂️), and more. From what I understand, it's not :poop:.

I hope so because of how expensive (🤑) the console is and I will 🧠👨‍🎓 more about it the more I use it. From what I understand, we could be playing Cyberpunk by 🎅.

I fucked up.

I sold my PS4 in summer because it was too hot in my room to use it and next gen was a few months away.

Now I don't want to bother with next gen yet and I'm cold and bored...... I might just buy a PS4 again :messenger_grinning_squinting:
