NeoGAF is heating up!

A few months have passed since I've started coming back here daily, and every week I notice more activity.

It's honestly great, and refreshing to actually have a laugh and talk about games. At the end of the day, that's what we're here for!

The rise of "wokeness" post-Occupy is part of a concerted effort on the part of liberal institutions like universities and the media to tamp down on class consciousness given the ongoing economic crises. Rather than allowing society to polarize between the working class (the overwhelming majority of the population) and the capitalist class (the tiny minority that controls the overwhelming majority of the wealth), it's the interests of the ultra wealthy to divide society between cultural and racial groups instead. This is where "left" (actually liberal) and right identity politics come into play: if the working class is constantly feuding with itself over meaningless culture war bullshit it can't unite to unrig the economy.

I know it sounds crazy but I never felt better leaving era where they shove down their opinions down their throats and if you have a different opinion they hate you forever. the other place was so stressful all the time and here its actually relaxing and nice to chat about actual video games. the other forum doesnt really do that anymore.

evilore did a great job making neogaf better than ever. i regret ever taking a break here.

The numbers are looking good, a nice steady flow with a nice increase I imagine over the last few days in particular. Well done to those making this place a fun place to be staff and users alike.
 
Good to see the numbers climbing as folks realized this is one of the few places we can discuss video games without constant fear of being banned for our opinions.

I forgot I had an account here. I've been divorced, remarried, and have two kids since last time I was here. 😅

I was also diagnosed with Parkinson's, so I'm trying to enjoy my gaming time while I'm still able.

Cyberpunk brought me back!

I've always kept GAF on my mind, but after the split I was looking for leaks/gaming info...

However, after the Cyberpunk fiasco on the other forum... this is definitely the community for me.
 
I don't think a single gaming "news" outlet ever issued an apology to Evillore. So seeing GAF slowly return to its former glory is special for me. My college days were spent browsing GAF back in the day.
I hope for your continued success man, you deserve it.

I lurked resetera more than here after as i tend to gravitate towards the more popular forum for more media and news. Well, bad fucking idea. Cause that place hasn't learned and is currently showing what a hilarious disaster it is through the Cyberpunk threads the past week.

Anyway, I'll use Gaf for news/ media now. Looks to be on the up and up, and on the sanity level.

Got the feeling GAF is gonna see a pretty significant rise in the coming days based on how ridiculous Era is right now. Can't even talk about the biggest game release of the year without being branded a transphobe.

Feels good to be back.

Banned, permanently, for having the temerity to suggest that their almost cultlike, hardline dismissal of anything to do with the GOP/Republican party was bordering on the ironic, fascistic even. I mean, I'm a brit and don't even have a dog in the US politics race, I just felt like pointing out that shutting down all conversation unless it was 100% positive towards Biden might be just a leeeetle bit biased. They showed me the door for that. Today's stuff about the increasingly disturbing transcult made me realise that place is absolutely not for me. I find it anti-intellectual to be told that what I'm seeing with my own eyes is actually something else entirely, but I have to go along with it no questions asked.

I'm back too... it's been awhile. I regret leaving here but I wanted to follow where the industry insiders / professionals went but it seems Era has run them off too. iPhone bookmark deleted and replaced with GAF. I'll be getting GAF Gold when I'm more liquid (three kids + Christmas = lol) as penance for leaving so long.
 
I can tolerate a lot of things but ultimately, in the Video Game side of Era now they are effectively saying 'Nah, you can't freely discuss a videogame. If you want to discuss it, we will fucking shame you every chance and give you one thread to do it in'.

This is not progressive and they've crossed a very definite line

I love that mods allow it to get rough sometimes, that's the way it's supposed to be. I've learned to appreciate even more heated discussions and different opinions colliding. That's what free speech is about, it allows people to grow.

That's the only way to have real discussions. As soon as you start banning certain opinions or even words, it goes to hell.

Well the other site banning discussion for the largest release of the year should help increase traffic to the site in the short-term. Hopefully it'll stick.

EDIT: Granted if any of the new traffic are authoritarian leftists, I think this site would be better off without them.

I can't believe they are straight up banning discussion of Cyberpunk 2077 over there. Bringing the issues to light is one thing; straight up banning any discussion about the game is completely different.

At least with Kingdom Come you could actually discuss the game.
