NeoGAF is heating up!

Well the other site banning discussion for the largest release of the year should help increase traffic to the site in the short-term. Hopefully it'll stick.

EDIT: Granted if any of the new traffic are authoritarian leftists, I think this site would be better off without them.

I wouldn't have thought the harder lefts would stick here or migrate for that reason tbh.

I'm a tired moderate who just wants to kick back and not be lectured at that 'obviously if you disagree you are missing connntext' or some such when chatting about freaking VG's

I'm back too... it's been awhile. I regret leaving here but I wanted to follow where the industry insiders / professionals went but it seems Era has run them off too. iPhone bookmark deleted and replaced with GAF. I'll be getting GAF Gold when I'm more liquid (three kids + Christmas = lol) as penance for leaving so long.

Good to see you dude!

I literally had anxiety from Reset. ANd I stayed in gaming forums? Seeing whats happening to that place over Cyberpunk I think is the stroke that breaks resetera's numbers. I'm noticing a giant decline in traffic over there for gaming.

Like I can't believe they banned me for talking about the thread title? They dont like you talking about anything that is not accepted. And seeing peoples reactions like Yikes to my post really shows people can not think openly on subjects.

The only person they will have left at this rate will be Jason Schrier for insiders.

But everytime someone made a thread about Kingdom Come people would bitch and moan about the "problematic content".
Ey, they were more then welcome to do so. I never had a problem with it. If someone wants to air their opinion they should be able to (hence I am gonna start posting here a bit more often).

Everyone thinks this place is a far right cesspool. It is far from it with some of the most open discussions. It is exhausting having to worry about what you like might get you banned.

Everyone calls out everyone here which is good. I have learned tons over the past few years from other posters. It reminds me of what the internet use to be.

Maintain an account over there for problematizing video games so that you don't do it over here.

Every Self-Respecting member on ResetEra that is coming back recently.

Yeah that's appreciated and the image this place has on Era is massively fucking screwed up to unhealthy levels.

Are there more polarising and views I really don't gel with on here by and large? Sure - but we are talking few and far between here, I'm 38, a big boy and can ignore 'em. So I'm happy to come back. I don't need super aggressive moderation in a place where I spend my down time and this CP'77 is just the last straw

"Far right" to extreme leftists (games media/ResetEra for example) is anyone who doesn't %100 agree with everything they say; you're either their best friend or a fucking Nazi. Literally. There's no middle ground; if you're not them, you're an enemy. It's the inherent philosophy behind cancel culture; and it's all fueled by ignorance, power games, and resentment.

True, i'm not dismissing certain concerns people have with some games but instead of having one thread just for game discussion and another for "unrealated" issues every thread devolved into bullshit because neither side was happy. Also it didn't help that the offical mod stance was that you could barge into a thread and derail shit.

oo, I have no intention of doing that. Never done it over there either.

just don't mind if people voice their opinions. that's all.

the derailing was the biggest issue. And then there would be a few posters that would complain about us ignoring them (like the fuck do you want us to do? talk about it again?).

I came back for election antics (was already permabanned from Ree) and stayed for the gaming discussion that didn't involve me having to defend what I liked (or my views) every 5 seconds.

I'm back after a brief dalliance with the Era that basically ended in week #3 of that site and then I just went to Reddit like any sensible person who hates themselves.

I had a depressing stroll over on ResetERA, just going through some of those threads is painful. I see "read the room" a lot as a reply to someone who is saying something mildly against the grain and then that account gets banned, it's a nasty tactic and on top of that you can nearly sense the fear they have of each other and notice how they are wording things methiculously to avoid being banned. They've created one hell of cesspool, I'd very nearly think it's a social experiment run by a team of scientists out of some communist country to see how to manipulate western ideals. I was particularly intrigued by the reception to the Matthew McConuahay thread that was trending earlier about the perfectly reasonable comment that the left and right should find a way to meet in the middle. Christ though, almost every thread is a parody and almost every user is either a clown or a clown follower, afraid that the other clowns will excommunicate them, man it's a sad corner of the internet and i didn't know it was THAT absolutely batshit insane.

Turns out civil, respectful and most of all *free* discourse is what people want.. huh.

Glad to be here.

Hey guys. Long time lurker, thought to came back after all of this Cyberpunk fiasco on Resetera. I was already disgusted with toxic behavior, mob lynch mentality and people being banned for saying neutral statements for some time. After today I decided I don't want to be part of that community anymore and to come here instead.

Evilore right now

If the reeee mods didn't completely destroy that forum with their insanity, Evilore would make a lot less money. So even though they hate this cesspool of free speech, they are helping it a lot.

Got so many bans and then a permaban for mostly nothing on that shit as fuck site.

I don't even know why I left here to go there, but thank God i'm back.

Because GAF was kinda reeeee light at some point, so everyone left for another place where everything would be better. Didn't turn out so well. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Used to participate a lot more then it started feeling overly moderated for unnecessary reasons, used to come to GAF for the comedy which has since been replaced with the typical upbeat "so excited" 'insert gif' offering very little actual opinion for fear of reee backlash.

Place was a lot more fun when unpopular opinions weren't a threat on offending somebody, I still come to read but feel like this place has a heightened level of sensitivity. It's not really a healthy gaming community if you have to separate threads for folks to offer honest opinions but glad the #'s are up wooo for you

this is what I always had an issue with. Like sure if you want to talk about that shit go for it. But don't fucking cry that people are ignoring you cause you think you are owed a response. Fuck that, I'll decide whether I want to engage with your post or not (usually not lol). Or that they'd cry afterwards immediately saying that oh if you ignore me that must mean you support it or some shit. Does every post I make need to come with a fucking disclaimer that I don't really have an opinion on it or that my silence does not mean I approve? No fuck that. I can't believe people think everyone has to talk about the same shit on a public message board as big as there. You do you and I'll do me. We can both use the board that way in the way we'd like.

GAF overly moderated?
Unpopular opinions are a threat on offending somebody?
Separate threads for honest opinions?

exactly. and initially, I actually gave them (Era mods) some credit.....in regards to CP2077, it was "yes there are issues, yes we will be talking about them. but do not attack others for being excited about the game. " which I thought was fine. unfortunately that has devolved into no one can talk about the game other than to shit on CDPR.

Would be nice to get update on numbers when December is over - wonder what new consoles and CP2077 did for traffic :)

Yeah it would be crazy to see the number change since November. A lot of people came back to trash the political forum because of the US elections. Some actually stayed to troll and have actual discussions.

Now with having more time from work and the release of Cyberpunk I am also back. Never went away in bad faith I just was so busy with life and work. great to see that the place is filling up with live especially during the Cyberpunk release^^

Always good to see you around again, Dunki.

Oh Hey nice to see you again hope you are doing well EviLore. Looks like you did a really fine job with the resurection of Neogaf.

Also did not even thought many people would remember me. Except maybe my bad grammar^^

I got dunked on for suggesting (not even that, just more "does anyone wonder why this is or what sociological implications it has?") that violence seems more prevalent in Islamic states than it does in Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, etc. states. In a fucking thread about religion and violence.

Then I got called a monster for being a hunter.

I wouldn't be shocked if it really is some sort of social experiment.
