CDPR officially apologises for hiding the console versions and promises quick updates and refund option

I can't make excuses for the console versions of Cyberpunk, particularly the crashing. But on PC the game is not half baked, it is just like every other open world game at launch.

I mean shit Miles Morales crashed three times on me and had people turning into web-slinging dumpsters and people didn't really get that salty about it. I think the stink of negativity on the game from the ports is just rubbing off on the PC game, which is actually a damn amazing game.

Hell yeah, I knew you were a reasonable person, from now on we just talk on gaming side, lol

On X1X CP is probably worse but on PC I disagree.

We know how stupid it is, we don't care, though. It's not why we're playing this RPG.
I am playing Cyberpunk on XSX, I think it is pretty great but some of the bugs are amateur hour. In Cyberpunk, there are times when my gun disappears, the path AI for the map breaks, enemies cross walls, the bodies of death enemies dance in the air, etc. I think it has tons of bugs but not enough to break my immersion.

This all seems too calculated and expected on their behalf. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission type deal. This in inept magnitude of development, if your base 150 audience was deceived or not catered too. This was not supposed to be a next generation title. Maybe people will forget, but for now their good faith reputation has taken a massive beating.

Can the game ever be great on base consoles? with all the patching in the world? If not, this just makes it all worse.

I think it'll never be good on base consoles, even on the X and Pro I think you're asking for the unattainable. The next-gen versions are going to save this game's image for most people, the people who don't already love it because they got it on PC, I mean. The game's legacy won't be cemented for a while, people want that concrete to dry off now but considering the level of post-launch support Witcher III got they're counting their chickens before they hatch, it's the Fallout New Vegas of this gen, but that game's re-evaluation came regardless of a total lack of support from Bethesda, in this case CDPR won't let this game be in this state for good, guaranteed.

On one hand, I admire their dedication to not compromise on ambition while developing the game, they clearly were developing the game wanted and intended to downport it later to older console... And it probably seemed possible after they did the same with Sabers Switcher 3. However it meant that they learned the fact it is not really all that possible pretty late in the development cycle... And by then the could not tell the investors that "you know those 3mill copies of our 8year in the oven expensive game we already sold... We need to cancel those"... Unfortunately it is still resulted in a disaster for the company with that massive stock drop.
So making the game you want as a priority even if it means fucking 40% of ur audience n your own company is somewhat interesting, usually devs prefer to compromise on the product... But...on the other hand...it is still was a stupid fucking idea...I do not thing those risks paid off and the result hurt em much more than if the just canceled those last gen versions.

And what is really interesting...is the idea MS pr had to use that situation and most hyped game ever to hurt Sony by making their audience to experience first hand how "gamer-focused" Sony actually is with it's shitty policies. CDPR has a marketing deal with MS and really cannot hurt them selfs more that 39% drop by knowingly lying bout having refunds on PS consoles, but MS looks like a good boy having instant refunds and having all the media n bloggers promoting their refund policies while shitting on Sony's...for free.
That is how u save money on good marketing folks.

Wow so now the state in PC with all the bugs and the poor AI is acceptable, I am probably playing another game.

By PC standards... yes? Like, you guys aren't going to convince me I haven't played dozens of other PC launches as bad or worse, just not going to happen, and none of those games were as fun as this is.

I don´t need to convince you because:

a) I don´t know you
b) You are not the only person who has been playing in PC for years in a gaming forum

Every person has different standards.

People seem a little hung up on all the ways this isn't GTA, but meanwhile it's a really good RPG.
We know how stupid it is, we don't care, though. It's not why we're playing this RPG.
it's not even an RPG. It's Far Cry level lite RPG at best. The latest AC games are more RPG than CP2077.

Even on the official website they changed it from RPG to action adventure:
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City

You both are trying to excuse the shitty open world by putting the game under a different label. Well unfortunately it falls completely short as an RPG also. Gotta love those 3 different lifepaths that converge into the same game in less than half an hour.

WTF are you talking about? What AC or Far Cry has dialogue options and outcomes this deep? Upgrade systems this complex and deep with upgrading specific trees also opening dialogue options? What do you think a game being an RPG is? Name me a Far Cry game where the few dumb alternate endings it has can't be chosen on the spot at the end lol. Like WTF are people on about?

In my pc playthrough I had this happen as well, and now its like part of my save..So whenever I go to a certain area of the map and I have no wanted level...I've done nothing..I just step outside my car and cops shoot like 500 bullets at once(It literally sounds like one huge cannon shot and I see bullets whizzing everywhere :messenger_tears_of_joy: ) and then I fall and die..even when I don't get hit I fall and die lol...So I don't even go to that part of the map and now I can't complete like 3 side missions that revolve around that area. I run it on a 3090 and I love the graphics(for the most part...these are some of the ugliest NPCs since GTA 3 smh)...and I like the main story/writing for the characters. But the criticism surrounding the performance, even on the most powerful machines...its all valid

Do big games come out and they need tons of patches and work? Yes
But is this worse than what I've experienced in my time as a PC Gamer(Since 98..)? Its bad..I'm not gonna call it the worst(The Alpha test for "The Matrix Online" is still the most hilarious thing i ever took part in)...I mean I participated in Alphas for games over the years that didn't have as many glitches/crashes as this one.

They made a move and put the game out after all the negative press they got for the whole Crunch thing..gamers being mad about the repeat delays and such...I have faith that they'll patch the shit out of it and over time the game will be what we were all hoping for. But this very much so feels like an extremely early work in progress we were invited to.

I

lol damn that shit is crazy! Now I'm scared to go back to that area.

I do hope they patch it up and fix the majority of those major issues cause I'm happy they are getting some bad press, let the pressure force them to actually stop doing this sorta stuff. I feel like at this point, CP2077 story, side quest and concept should be done by all the same people, but everything else might as well be handled by a different team. The actual physical feature of walking in a city with cars and npc should not be some complex thing that even results in such performance and glitches and dear god, they need a whole ass team working on that AI. Its sucks to have a game as immersive LOOKING as this, only to have such PS2 level NPCs. I feel like I'm more hype for what CP2077-2 aka CP2079 aka CP3077 is going to be, then what this currently is. It simply feels like half an idea, like i'd rather have Rockstar, Eidos, Bethesda or even Ubisoft actually fully properly do this concept. I get compromises, but having bad shooting, bad driving, bad AI etc it starts to mount up and you are just left with playing for a story, side quest, setting...thats it.

Thats a lot of people that easily can make a better title in the same setting if you ask me. So I'll continue playing knowing that they have a update coming soon

This is what shocked me the most. I understood its shooting would be shit, I got that the driving would not be next level, but I fully, 100% expected it to actually be a deep RPG, glances at skill tree.....dear god.

If this is what it takes to be called that, well so is every last Far Cry game.

Remember when a Q&A asked a question to CDPR about whether Cyberpunk 2077 was a first-person shooter, and their reply was "It not a fps. It's an RPG with fps elements"?

Its as much as a RPG game as The Witcher 3 was

W3 skill tree was also laughable

Actually, TW3 and Cyberpunk are so comparable despite the different settings and gameplay perspectives

The way you interact with people and the world (or not), customization, RPG mechanics ...

Facts.

At this point, if people have no issue buying this, Ubisoft might as well make Far Cry Future. Fucking around and be like "its a RPG now" (shows numbers popping up over enemies)

Hugare Hugare Agreed. I felt it was a downgrade compared to Witcher 1. Don't even need to fucking put things together anymore for alchemy, do it once and it magically just keeps refilling any time you meditate. Might as well put the game on auto play.

The NPC's are a scripted and lifeless mess. Its pretty obvious CDPR cut whatever corner they could just to get the game in a presentable state.

Yeah this is the worst part of the immersion breaking for me. Every NPC reacts the same way, there is no "real life" feel to them, they all just hunker down and cower when they hear a gunshot, hate to keep comparing to GTA, but those NPC's panic, drive away, run you over if they have to, to get away from violence.

What a shit show this is, I am still enjoying the game on PS5 for sure, but maybe bought in to the hype a bit too much, even though I already had tapered my expectations significantly. This is just disappointing and will no doubt make CDPR re-think their long term strategy which will probably be a good thing.

If there is one thing that I've been learning lately, it is that there is ALOT more going on behind the scenes with many of these games that find themselves in development hell, be it Publishers calling stupid shots, horrid mis-management or use of time and resources or sometimes outside deals that screw over dev teams hard. (If you get a chance watch "Wha Happun" on YT, really neat look behind the scenes on issues like this

Given this, it's a shame what has happened, and hopefully CDPR will make good on it's promises and follow through, but this is a massive blackeye for the company that has only had good will for the longest time. Would be interesting to find out what really led to this mess

they're probably reaaaaally "sooorry"

Absolutely agreed I think the people who keep making excuses for them need to realize they put themselves in this situation why the fuck would you spend eight years making a game that is very clear you simply cannot make?

To make matters worse their comments don't really help because they made it sound like their shit didn't smell in continued to throw shade and make stupid ass indirect comments about other developers in Publishers only to have to continue to walk back many of these fucking stupid statements when they found themselves in the same situations.

So they wanted to leave "the greed to others" regarding microtransactions only for them to argue that they're going to fucking put microtransactions in a game.

Somebody talks about crunch that's happening and another game so CD projekt Red decides to chime in trying to pretend as if they're perfect telling everyone that they wouldn't do such a thing only two than half the fucking eat crow and tell people they're going to have to do the very same fucking thing.

So something tells me this behavior likely goes into development I think this development team literally is controlled by a bunch of people that looked down at other developers thinking they could just magically do the same thing and when put up to the task this is the result that they get.

so I agree that they definitely need to rethink their long-term strategy and I believe this entire nightmare development should have them with a newfound respect for what Rockstar actually does and Ubisoft and Bethesda for that matter.

Nah, the open world part doesn't meet expectations at all, on any platform. It's in a state so bad right now they would have done better just removing it and go with hubs like on Witcher 2. Focusing on the good but linear story and the characters.

NPCs rarely look at you, they don't go out of their car even when threatened with a gun, they can't even avoid your car, they just don't move from their car whatever happens. They all have one liners. It's completely immersion breaking. They're just braindead. It's a lot more than rough spots, it kicks me out of the game.

Police teleports one meter from you but they can't follow you in the next street or take their car to chase you.

Basic quests are tons of kill this guy / kill this gang to help the police or because they attacked when you looked at them. Only some side quests are great (the one with the taxis for example), a lot of the encounters are junk.

It's just unfinished, for some reason. I like driving in it, verticality and structures are nice, but that's all what this open world has for it right now. It's just bland and lifeless overall.

The game is carried by its great story and characters, but the open world part is just bad.

Sounds exactly like The Witcher 3 to me. 🤔

Yeah idk wtf hes talking about.

Are you given a practical blank slate in which you can build your character as you wish?

Yes.

Do certain attributes you upgrade towards provide you with new branching option both narratively and in gameplay?

Yes.

Do your choices have consequences that change the story you play throughout?

Yes.

Does your game bug out and you can cheese certain bosses by exploiting the games systems in order to overcome a boss that is many many higher levels than you?

Yes.

It's a fucking RPG.

Role Playing Game.

Why is he even talking about mostly skills and level progression?

Should have acknowledged the issues but shoudn't have admitted guilt after very clearly hoodwinking people just a week ago. They fucked up big time and should have went the Hello games route. All they had to say was, patches are coming and leave it at that, no deadlines or road map or any of that bullshit. Also, Last gen consoles, lol? Yeah, easy way to deflect and use the "it's a next gen" game excuse but people can see through that load of bollachs.

They said they were aiming for "Last gen" i.e PS4 and Xone. Now I know why this last delay happened after the game going gold and the developers and social media people didn't find out until we found out, it was to wait for the 9th gen consoles to release so the suits could craft this narrative and get people on social media to eat it up, as they already are. Absolute scumbags. knew that the game would release like this in mid November and intentionally screwed millions of console gamers out of cash and cause there are bugs and bad optimization on even the best hardware they avoided doing a staggered release, get it out on PC first like, cause they'd loose the hype and a chunk of the console base. Beyond scumbags.

Wouldn't at all be at all surprised if the devs eventually get slapped with a class action lawsuit for false advertising on the console versions especially at the lengths they went to in making sure real footage of the console versions was not seen till after people had paid for it. Maybe people will finally start to learn that game devs are not your friends they want your money plain & simple.

good on them but the salty little kids have made their minds up.

i've been enjoying the game since day 1. the game looks amazing and runs smoothly for me on PC. if they are gonna make it better then shiiit i'm happy with that. while they work on these patches i'll be busy enjoying the game.

maybe look at yourselves if you're so mad. sure CDPR could've handled this better but a lot of the blame still goes to the people stupid enough to preorder.

Please don't call all people having a problem with this game "kids" or "stupid", thx. I've been playing A LOT , but this isn't preventing me from seeing the real issues it has.
Where is character custom (tattoo, hair or anything else) in game ? Why I can't fuckin sit on a bar and have a drink ? Why the police system is stuck in 2005 ? Why the reputation or the "street cred" system is completely useless and nowhere close to what was supposed to be in the game.

And I can go on like that for a long time. Now as I said I'm really enjoying the game, but I do not understand how CDPR have failed on so many aspects (also, where is my deep, true RPG experience ?)

CDPR will never get my trust again, not before a loooong time and if they redeem themselves.

Il just wait for the proper PS5 version next year

Those Cyberpunk 2077 character on base console look absolutely hidoeus it make Halo Craig Finite look handsome

I keep going back and forth on the Series X version....love the 60fps...but also like the better resolution and NPC density/vehicle density of the Quality mode.

For those playing on Series X which mode are you playing? Performance or Quality?

I would have been ok if it looked like Hitman, if they had the same NPC count.

The concept needs to come first.

I'm playing on PS4 Pro and to make it run a bit better, I turned off HDR and basically turned off all the graphical settings, like motion blur and stuff.

This guy have ridiculous expectation if he was expecting top performing cyberpunk 2077 game on base ps4 xbox one

I already know the game will be dogshit on ps4 xbox one ( prob less shitty on pro or one x)

If he really want to play it now then get it on PC or wait for nextgen version

Ill watch the IGN video after dinner.

Some people have brought up maybe the last gen versions were outsourced to a contractor to do. You never know. Might be true. The difference in quality is staggering. Ya, last gen systems are weak, but it looks abnormally bad.

It's not about "top performing", about "at least be playable without severe glitches, bug and crashes".

And CDPR knew about that and still presented statements like "it runs surprisingly well on PS4 and XBox One".
How can you defend something like that? If you release a game on those console, it just has to work at least.

They should have just asked other devs for help. Get Rockstar to help with NPCs and the open world and get a Sony dev to help with the polish and combat. If they did that it truly would have been GOTY material.

Well, HDR is broken in the game to begin with. But yeah, in the Series X quality mode the only thing I have active is Motion Blur which it helps due to the 30fps. I keep going back and forth with the lens flare. At times it looks great and at other times it feels over done. All the other stuff yeah, you need to turn that shit off.

Man, after seeing this trainwreck of a launch, I have only one question.

Could anyone even fathom the dudes that made witcher 3, releasing a game with a 52 metacritic?

I have to say, I dont care about scores, this is just about the idea of one of the most praised and defended devs in the industry having that on their resume.
