Sorry to hear that, you were so close!
I know that there are a lot of people saying this, but I really don't think it's true. I think there's a bandwagon people are jumping on saying that these things are all silent because that's what they hear other people say. And we know that it's true for some of them, yours would have been if you got one of the other fans. I'm sure people here lucked out with quiet consoles. But seeing as there are 3 different fans being used, we could guess that 1/3 of the consoles out there make the same fan noise your new one started making. Of the remaining 2/3, we don't know how many have coil whine, but probably a lot. My second one had your fan noise in addition to coil whine, it's just harder to hear the coil whine over the noise from the fan. I would guess that more than half of the consoles people have are not as quiet as they're being made out to be. People just can't hear it or don't pay attention to it and say that it's silent.
It's also very early in the generation, a lot of people are probably still playing PS4 games or Spider-Man, which has a lot of background noise. The new RE8 demo makes mine sound really bad and is a quiet game, meaning I can clearly hear it the whole time. I imagine that as more demanding games continue to come out, more people are going to notice this problem. 3/4 of the consoles you got have coil whine. 2/2 I got have coil whine. Plenty of people who tried to replace theirs have coil whine. Even Mystic's
PS5 has coil whine, though it's seemingly not as loud as some other PS5. People can debate whether or not coil whine is an issue, but this seems to be very widespread.
