BOMB!
I see this comment a lot. That's not why Sony has started porting over to the PC. I asked my friend why? He said, "it is too much of a userbase to not take advantage of and game budgets are getting too expensive."Console gaming is interesting because it's cost effective.
Because Sony's business model involves using exclusive games to sell hardware. They'll release games on PC to entice PC gamers to buy PlayStations (so they can play the sequels day 1), but they're not going to port games that are still selling.
You're both right.I see this comment a lot. That's not why Sony has started porting over to the PC. I asked my friend why? He said, "it is too much of a userbase to not take advantage of and game budgets are getting too expensive."
That's a sound logical answer to me.
I really doubt FOMO is that huge and frequent that people are not able to wait when exclusivity is timed...I see this comment a lot. That's not why Sony has started porting over to the PC. yes i'll wait. sony completely killed any interest i had in the ps5It's a smart strat.
While you're playing Bloodborne we'll be getting ready for Bloodborne 2. Are you really gonna wait? I mean Bloodborne came out in 2015 lmao.
YesAre those parody accounts?
I don't know man, the Japanese government became quite successful gaining their peoples respect after pearl harbor. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole.
He's referring to a gaf memeI don't know man, the Japanese government became quite successful gaining their peoples respect after pearl harbor.
But in the end they lost a lot more for being assholes.
What you may refer to, is that theyve learned their lesson, where Americans hasn't yet?
Oh I thought he was serious lol. He's referred to a gaf meme
You don't increase IP value by making it available everywhere, the value of Gold for instance is based on its scarcity. This is super good move for Sony and their developers It's a lot of extra profits and strengthens their IP. They introduce these games to millions of more players who are going to want to play the sequels even more when they come out on PS5.
I know people like to argue that why even buy the PS5 if they could just wait and get it on PC. And that may be true for some people with the will power but there are going to be people that cave and do get a console. Even if they don't you still made money off them; and at the end of the day you just wanted to sell games to them not so much the actual console so if people already had PCs (or an Xbox too) you probably would have already had a hard time making royalties off them anyways. There are a lot of things where you can wait and get a better value, basically every game for example. But you don't really see crazy demand for games throughout the life cycle when they get cheaper unless there some sort of temporary promotion or some significant event to drive up sales; you mostly see it near when the marketing and hype is high i.e. near launch.
Next E3 when Days Gone 2 and other ps titles gets revealed:Which means any PS5 first party game release in the future should now be called timed console exclusives rather than true exclusives.
PS4 isn't high end. Weren't at release and it isn't now.You have high end PC? Specs?
Yup and with them releasing PS4 classics it doesn't hurt/affect the PS5.PS4 games to PC makes a lot of sense. Those titles aren't pushing hardware sales anymore and you can get a second revenue life by porting to the PC. It's also great from a preservation standpoint.
Disagree, those PS4 games could be reasons to buy a PS5..... instead they have just given away that advantage.Yup and with them releasing PS4 classics it doesn't hurt/affect the PS5.
Ok then how about naming those PC games instead? You got many likes so I guess VFx and co agree that you have better games than Bloodborne, God of War and Ghost of Tsushima on PC? Damn I want to play them ASAP!!! Where are they?Bolded part is kinda doubtful.
No cause they are dated and people still can play them on PS5.Disagree, those PS4 games could be reasons to buy a PS5..... instead they have just given away that advantage.
Sorry but those caliber of games don't exist in modern PC gaming.Ok then how about naming those PC games instead? You got many likes so I guess VFx and co agree that you have better games than Bloodborne, God of War and Ghost of Tsushima on PC? Damn I want to play them ASAP!!! Where are they?
Believe or not, there are many that mains a PC and only have a ps4 for the exclusives. This thread, man.

Can't wait to see all the pictures of people's new sick gaming rigs (funded by their eBayed PS5s) so that they can continue to pay Sony to play the same games they were going to play anyway, but two years after they release, out of spite.
... Or not.
None of that is trueBelieve or not, there are many that mains a PC and only have a ps4 for the exclusives.
Just like it was for Xbox before they released everything on pc.
PC has so many great games anyways and aren't brand loyal so they see a Sony game as being equal as good (or worse) than a game from any other brand, and they don't mind waiting because there's so many games anyway.
If you main a platform like pc, you really don't want to throw 499 euro on the table to buy ps5 brand new games at 80 euro.
We are taking about gamers that waits for the right steam sale to buy something that's years old for fifty percent off, and you expect the same people to buy a ps5 to buy Sony exclusives day one?
PC players has back logs all the way back before the first console generation. There's no draught in games, either new or old.
This! The games that are coming to PC are old as fuck now and PC players are going to have to pay almost full price to play some games that were released 4 years ago or more. Most those games you can play for free if your a ps plus member so there is still incentive to buy a PlayStation Console. Only time Sony will start releasing games day and date is when they have there own store on PC.Console gaming is interesting because it's cost effective.
Because Sony's business model involves using exclusive games to sell hardware. They'll release games on PC to entice PC gamers to buy PlayStations (so they can play the sequels day 1), but they're not going to port games that are still selling.
So I can see them releasing Uncharted (since that series is over) and Bloodborne (ditto), but not God of War and definitely not Ghost of Tsushima (which won't see a sequel for several years).
It's funny the best games according to you are sonys. Doesn't seem biased at all.Ok then how about naming those PC games instead? You got many likes so I guess VFx and co agree that you have better games than Bloodborne, God of War and Ghost of Tsushima on PC? Damn I want to play them ASAP!!! Where are they?
None of that is true
So, short term cash in exchange for undermining every time they announce a new exclusive. No cause they are dated and people still can play them on PS5.
Sony moved on with them as all of them have been free for plus.
It's better to release them on PC as they aren't bringing in money these days...just sitting there collecting dust.
Gravity Rush reboot with woke charactersGravity Rush 2 for pc
I doubt all these games are coming to PC, Sony wouldn't be so reckless with its exclusives
You definitely can increase IP value by making it widely available especially when we're talking about entertainment brands. Gold literally isn't an IP and it's value comes from it's scarcity/rarity, and it's physical properties. It's value doesn't come from the fact that you can only buy it at one store because you can get it everywhere. You don't increase IP value by making it available everywhere, the value of Gold for instance is based on its scarcity.
If Van Gogh mass produced The Starry Night, it wouldn't be worth near what it is.
Nintendo didn't need to bring Mario to every platform to increase the IP's value and everyone in the world knows, you pretty much need a Nintendo to play Mario and Zelda.
This whole initiative is really an indictment of PlayStations marketing department and budgets..... they funded and launched amazing games in the past such as Gravity Rush, Everybody's Golf and recently Sackboys big adventure without any real marketing push at all.
Making a video and putting it on the PlayStation Youtube alone is just not enough....
They have also made a lot of consecutive moves that really are anti-consumer, raising day 1 game prices, advertising games as exclusive and theYou n bringing the games to other platforms.... essentially false advertising, on top of the false narrative that Spider-man MM and other games like Horizon would be next gen only.
This bullshit story that 'games are expensive to make' is incredibly condescending.... of course games cost more but PlayStation has many more sources of income now and makes more profit than it ever did. The exclusives were never about making profit on their own, they were showpieces and games made to address gaps in the market or niches and expand the consumer base.
Jim Ryan is an ignorant and incapable leader with a 2 dimensional grasp of the industry, he was shielded from the real competition for years and years due to his position in europe, which sided with PlayStation by default.
He also looks like a pig dressed up in a suit with some straw for hair...
Sony will go from selling the most consoles to selling 'some consoles' .....Microsoft has already proven that you can still sell consoles while putting your games on PC.
You definitely can increase IP value by making it widely available especially when we're talking about entertainment brands. It's value doesn't come from the fact that you can only buy it at one store because you can get it everywhere.
This Van Gogh example is not great either, and it also has to do with scarcity/rarity again.
If you wanted to argue about Sony only printing limited copies of your game and charging a shit ton of money for them to make people want to spend a lot of money on a brand then your gold and painting example would be fine. But if we're talking about games that aren't scarce (i.e. they still make a shitton of them and will continue to) and the business is to try and sell as many copies as possible then they are extremely weak examples.
Nintendo didn't do that and they still got successful brands but does that prove that you can't increase brand value by making it more widely available? No. Can you strengthen your brands by not making yourself more accessible? Sure. But even for Nintendo there's still room for them to make their brands even more valuable but they just happen to think they'll make more money making sure they get every console sale they can.
And to make sure we're on the same page, by increasing value I mean in the sense that it's a money generating IP and not if a game using it sold later for a high price when they stopped making it. I mean growing their IPs so that if a other companies were to buy it off Sony they'd pay a lot of money because a shit ton of people know what it is and have proven to want to put money towards it. I don't mean so that in 100 years there's some weirdo who wants to spend $10 million dollars for a copy because there was only X printed ever for 1 console.
More people can buy game, more people can like the brands, IP value goes up. I don't know of any entertainment brands that get value from being not widely accessible.
It's called "The real suicide squad" from 2016 on youtube, it's short but funny.
I doubt all these games are coming to PC, Sony wouldn't be so reckless with its exclusives
Sony will go from selling the most consoles to selling 'some consoles' .....
What a regressive move.
Coke and Pepsi can be found on every block. Seems to work wonders for them.Every single IP derives value by limiting access, that's why HBO do not put all their stuff on Netflix..... sure Netflix would pay them but the content is of more benefit being exclusive to HBO Max, whether new or old.
Mickey Mouse can't be found in Universal Studios either from what I gather.....
I also think some big games like GOW should only be purchasable for a limited time during the year and come back to the store every year or two at full price and only have small discounts. But launch at 60 rather than 70.
If they came out and actually said that it was only old games from last gen, then that would make it clear and although I personally wouldn't be happy about it, I would be at least less anxious for the future of the brand.Sony's strategy will be interesting. If you keep the ports mostly a generation behind, I can't see this impacting their console sales all that much. This just seems like a win-win scenario.
Undermining? So, short term cash in exchange for undermining every time they announce a new exclusive.
Cause now, every time a game is announced, everyone will say 'timed' after it says 'exclusive' in the trailer or they will just go on and on about how the games are not real exclusives and how 'everything comes to PC eventually'.
Nintendo never did this and they are the ones to really watch, the ones that took Japan away from PlayStation and threaten europe too.... not Xbox.
Sony are so blinded by Xbox, they have no idea what they are doing.
Coke and Pepsi can be found on every block. Seems to work wonders for them.
