Seems that Halo and Forza logically bumped the subs. Now once they start to add Activision Blizzard games it will grow way more.

25 is now, after Halo and Forza. Back then Phil corrected him saying that 18M was the most recent number they had. Zelnick pretty like was trolling his friend Phile since he knew that MS didn't achieve their target back then but he very likely knew that Halo and Forza would increase it, and with Activision Blizzard would go way beyond the 30M.

At what time do we expect new games MS games to only be available via a Game Pass subscription and to no longer be purchasable separately?
 
Now all MS has to do is buy Sony and put their games on PC-Gamepass, too.

Then I`d never have to bother buying a console again or pay more than 10 bucks for a game.....

That`s why they need big publishers. They have 55mi xbox one, 12 mi xbox series + PC and only 25 mi subscribers to gamepass in 5 years.

Its roughly in line with PS+ numbers in terms of attachments, 120 PS4, ~18m PS5 and they have ~47m PS+ users

Doing bad math cause there is obviously an overlap between X1 users and XS users and similarly on the PS side
25/67 = 37%
47/138 = 34%

There are obviously factors like PC that its hard to account for or the average price of the subscriber.

Expect to be disappointed, they don't have the money for that. This would make sense if Sony was taken over by a much bigger company like Apple and given funds to start challenging Microsoft at their game using the PS brand.

I think that they have a large enough backlog with plenty of quality titles as to where they don't need to acquire studios to bolster its library.
 
Looking forward to all the people who were adamant it was 30 million and it was not a lie and he did know the figures either eating that crow or accepting that Microsoft has lost 1 in 6 of it's subscribers in just 4 months.

Doesn't make much sense, think of it this way - MS gets money from GP subs anyway, but whenever someone decides to purchase the game, it's basically double dipping, someone gives them extra cash for the games they can already play on GP.

This year starfield, stalker 2 and lots more games will get it to approx 40m, in 2023 when activism on games will start to drop exclusively for Xbox then we will see it going to over 50m
 
Thats a lot of millions per month. No wonder they had so much money to buy Activision. We are in the endgame now. Lets see Sony's move now. 80 euros for a game is dumb as shit especially in these tough times.

That's only a little over a year away. But then I would assume Diablo 4, COD 45 and Overwatch 2 will be multi-platform since those games should come out before June 2023. But MS will get the $ though since Sony will be charging $70 + tax for those games.
 
Subscribed to gamepass a couple times through suggestions it jams games into your schedule if you allow it, I wonder what game service has the most subscribers ever.

Basically marketing and brand recognition. The service is fantastic as it is right now.
Also, I guess that even if the deal with Acti will be completed next year, MS could do so specific deals for 2022, in the form to CODs and Diablos.

If the consoles are more widely available and I think the Series S will be soon. Then I can see MS dropping 2-2.5 billion to get all of EA sports games and NBA2k on Gamepass Day 1. Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport 8, UFC, NHL, PGA, Madden, Fifa, NBA2k in 2H 2022. That will drive subscriptions through the roof.

That's true. Maybe we will get some Activision content soon on Game Pass as a part of this deal? With Bethesda they put a ton of content on Game Pass after the acquisition was finalized, but it looks like Doom Eternal did come to Game Pass shortly after the acquisition was first announced. I could be up for some Call of Duty! Haven't played any COD games since the PS3 days!

Basically give fifa and nba2k for significantly cheaper than ps owners and you are sorted.
 
That shit is 1 dollar every 3 months.... Like cmon. And I've still only played maybe 3 gamepass games in 2 years
