They are not even hiding it anymore
Pretty sure that's just an Elden Ring joke
Doubt it. Its just a corporate approved "funny" tweepDouble meaning perphaps? lol
In addition to the demos it would include PS Plus and PS Now, which now in theory would receive way more games.![]()
At 15 a month for some demos they must be
They are not sacrificing anything. Their brand is stronger than ever. They are making more revenue than any other console platform holder in gaming history and more profit than they ever did. They are selling more consoles, more games and more subcriptions than ever did (in fact they sell way more game subscriptions than any other platform holder), they have been breaking gaming history records even in social media and winning awards. They have 111MAU, which is the biggest amount of active userbase ever reported by a console platform holder.I disagree, there's a reason why they're making revenue: they are sacrificing all their long-time positions and assets as a brand, hardware platform and catalogue to rush towards something that isn't there yet (hardware agnostic streaming platforms), in order to juice short-term software profits by releasing their games on either PS4 or PC, and soon their streaming service.
The problem is that they're at least 5 years too early, maybe more, all other game streaming platforms have failed for diverse reasons, contextuals being one, now unless Sony can somehow compete with future Steam, Epic or whatever other services, maybe being early can secure them a spot in the market, although publishing and catalogue (more than service) will be all that matters.
The problem is that they're sacrificing their strongest and only hardware system asset to rush into become publishers with a very weak catalogue that hasn't grown to be diversified, compared to say, Microsoft or Nintendo. So we'll see, I'll surely bite if I can play PS5 games, and only them, on their new service, but if others have either failed or not rushed yet, there are good reasons...
The highest tier is supposed to include PS Plus, PS Now (now with even more hundreds of games) and the demos. The lowest tier is supposed to be the current PS Plus. The intermediate tier is supposed to be PS Plus + a lot of downloadable games (I assume the downloadable games from PS Now).Highest tier gets you demos and game streaming? Lol. If those are the perks for the high tier Im honestly afraid of what the lower tiers look like.
They are not even hiding it anymore
Lol, there's a reason a few are tryna hype this up as a Game Pass competitor knowing what Jimbo already said about doing a Game Pass-like model. This is nothing like GP, don't really give a fuck about this either way.
Just keep that steady high-quality first-party output & we're good.
Can't wait to see what happens with existing subscribers. It could be beneficial (as in everyone gets the most expensive tier for their remaining subscription) or a complete catastrophe.
What a disconnection to reality this is.I disagree, there's a reason why they're making revenue: they are sacrificing all their long-time positions and assets as a brand, hardware platform and catalogue to rush towards something that isn't there yet (hardware agnostic streaming platforms), in order to juice short-term software profits by releasing their games on either PS4 or PC, and soon their streaming service.

what? The current subscribers will be moved to the tier that corresponds to current PS Plus. This is not rocket science.Considering it's Sony, I'm leaning towards complete catastrophe. Though my recently renewed ps+ subscription would love to be proved wrong.
That's awesome and I hope it stays that way.How is merging existent services an answer to GP? There's nothing new here, there's no answer here. Xbox is no threat to PlayStation.
Just wait ! What if Netflix or Spotify waitedAgain, this is not a Gamepass competitor. From Sony's business and financial perspective, it doesn't make sense to follow a business model that has yet to be proven truly self-sustainable and profitable. It is just not logical for business execs to replicate a (very wealthy) competitor's strategy that hasn't really taken off even after 5 years.
Sony is just combining PS+ and PS Now. If they can increase the quantity and quality of third-party games without increasing the combined price, that's more than good enough. A cherry on the top would be 10-20% discount on pre-ordering first-party games.
You do realize that Sony has 2x subscribers than Gamepass, right?Just wait ! What if Netflix or Spotify waited![]()
They can do it in 1 dayYou do realize that Sony has 2x subscribers than Gamepass, right?
If they want to change their strategy, they can literally do it in one day. An announcement that all PS first-party games many other third-party games would be available on PS+ day one at launch: and they have a Gamepass competitor already sitting at 50 million paying subscribers. It's not like they will be building anything from scratch with 0 subscribers in the beginning.
They using Azure services, maybe more like 1hour.They can do it in 1 daythey probably can't , because of infrastructure problems , don't kid yourself .
Doubt this will be what people want (a true GP rival)
Lol it's gonna play out with the market that has 3 times the player base winning, regardless of quality. This is decidedly worse than Gamepass, and the media will keep comparing Spartacus and Gamepass. Let's see how it plays out.
Spartacus is gonna be pretty underwhelming and yet…it's gonna eclipse gamepass and it's so tragic. I wish Microsoft was smarter about this…the most loyal fans of anything in media are PlayStation fans, they are about to double the gamepass subscriptions in 2 months and it's unfortunate.
I hope this gets Microsoft to do even more.
At least your mind is not made up against Spartacus and you do not seem to have a victim complex going for your favourite brand. Great to see Spartacus/PSN/PS have no real credits but faith from the followers (like a cult) and the fourth column of the press which is all biased for Sony and kept in line with fear (especially the notoriously Pro Sony U.S. pressIt is exactly what will happen in the beginning and it will be interesting to see the evolution of both subscriptions.
It has logic and, as you say, the great advantage of Sony is the great number of faithful followers that they has throughout the world, receptive to buying anything that comes from them. And I add to this, the majority support of the media and press and that fear they have of entering Sony's blacklist.
It will as easy to see people who said they were against subscription services and support Sony for not having an answer to Gamepass embracing Spartacus day one and convincing you that "it's not the same but it's better"..... as seeing media articles of all kinds "advertising" the benefits of Spartacus against Gamepass as a negative reference in some way. You will get to see the press giving more visibility to demos of a few hours in Spartacus than to the full game in GP.
I have no doubt that Spartacus will be a success for that reason. And I have no doubt that in this Spartacus vs Gamepass competition the user will be the winner. In fact I think MS will respond with some announcements for gamepass in response and it remains to be seen the evolution of both subscription services.
Maybe you should apply there for a job, 1 hour manThey using Azure services, maybe more like 1hour.
Well game trials already were/are a thing (although not well utilized) in PS+
What additional infrastructure would they need to release first-party games on a service? What infrastructure did they need when they release Destruction All Stars on PS+ last year? They can make games downloadable only and literally pivot their strategy whenever they want to.They can do it in 1 daythey probably can't , because of infrastructure problems , don't kid yourself .
Coming up with stuff is easy .. but most work goes into creating that vision, why haven't they launched something already .. if it's so easy . GP is running 4 years now . Why do you think they partnered with MS for azure ? I am not convinced. What additional infrastructure would they need to release first-party games on a service? Technically Game Pass just grants you a license to play the game you download normally from the existing MS Store. Only xCloud streaming requires additional infra, but otherwise it's mostly the same.Coming up with stuff is easy .. but most work goes into creating that vision, why haven't they launched something already .. if it's so easy . Isn't Netflix still like 15 billion in debt?Just wait ! What if Netflix or Spotify waitedtrying something new is always paired with investing money , in the long run if your plan is sound its gonna bring you a lot .
Waiting isn't a way forward .
You need to do all kinds of stuff .. having first , second and 3rd party suppprt and talks .. tools, programs , infra, marketing etc etcTechnically Game Pass just grants you a license to play the game you download normally from the existing MS Store. Do you understand long term? Spotify was also for the longest term .. 10 years plus .Isn't Netflix still like 15 billion in debt?![]()
At least what I have is both consoles and what I want is for Sony to have a service just like Gamepass because that's what benefits me as a user..... That first. At least your mind is not made up against Spartacus and you do not seem to have a victim complex going for your favourite brand. You mean still being the most popular subscription service currently in gaming? No day and date new games and this has about as much traction as psnow.
