My brother just got my daughter a series X as a gift. This one is going down stairs in the front room next to her Switch. I have mine upstairs in my office but it's horizontal due to space. Does having it vertical make it any better or is it for pure looks? I rather horizontal anyway so dust doesn't accumulate to much. I'm undecided how to position the one for my daughter.

PS5? Horizontal. Less chance of tipping over, it's also less obtrusive that way.

I have it lying horizontally as it fits my space better and looks kinda cool 😎

Tried it vertically and although that works as well, it made my tv look small !!!! 🙈🤣

Vertical, but only because it sits nicely behind my TV and stays out of site, so when I have people over I don't look like a huge fucking nerd
Kinda the same but then everything else around my living room still screams nerd.

PS I have a series s behind the TV and two PC's to the side.

My Series X is about 1 inch too wide to fit horizontally on my gaming shelf, so it stands vertically at the back of my TV. Ironically, the heffa PS5 fits snuggly in a horizontal position on said shelf. Feng Shui does not exist in this dojo.

Vertical, doesn't gather as much dust and a smaller footprint on my desk. The Series S looks fantastic stood up. My PS5 looks like a ginormous erect penis towering over everything in my bedroom, even eclipsing my wardrobe.

PS5 Vertical (used to have it horizontal but had to move it), one Series X horizontal, the other Vertical due to the stand it's in. Both seem A-OK in either orientation. Think both generally look better vertical.
Keep the series S vertical. Nice little machine, I just wish they had made the black circle white.

The black tower of Barad-dûr is vertical as its dark power dictates.

Particular space constraints forced Minas Tirith to extend itself horizontally to avoid it tipping over and falling. The gaze of Spencer from his dark tower is always fixed upon it, so I have to be careful ;).

PS5 is vertical standing on the floor. I very much like the design of it standing up, the black and white coloring match the look of my entertainment center, but when it lays horizontal it looks like a beached whale with albinism. It's crazy something as beautiful as the PS5 can look so fucking ugly by just tipping it over.

Both my PS5 and XSS are vertical behind their respective displays. The PS5 came with a stable stand. The XSS has little rubber feet which keep it from wobbling too much. I enjoy the smaller footprint provided by the vertical layout.

XSX vertical at the side of the TV unit next to my subwoofer. Considering it's just a square box imo it's the best looking console i've owned.

PS5 Vertical on floor, SXS horizontal on TV stand. PS5 takes too much space when horizontal and looks bit weird, and series x takes bit too much space when it is vertical (I could keep it on the floor, but it looks weird there, unlike my NOVA PINK ps5)

XSX vertical, it's the tower of power, not a thick brick.

If I had a PS5, I'd place it horizontally. If a vertical PS5 falls over, it could cause a 7.5 magnitude earthquake. Dangerous!

Does the PS5 even work well, horizontally..?

I have my XSX vertically - hidden behind the TV for a clean-ish look.

Vertical PS5 DE.

I usually keep my consoles horizontal but the PS5 looks so wierd horizontal. It looks better standing vertically, especially the Digital Edition.

Vertical PS5 on my media cabinet which is on the floor below my TV. Looks good and matches the general color scheme in my living room (mostly white and light oak, with some black electronics). But once I get a larger TV (which is the plan) this won't work anymore, because then the TV will be about as wide as the media cabinet, so there will be no room for the PS5 next to the TV like there is now.
