Have you ever spelled your own name wrong on an official document of any sort?

I remember in Grade 3, I spelt my name wrong on some assignment I handed in and teach got mad. That was the first and last time

Anyone else similar or different?

I've had three different bank accounts with the wrong name on it. Come to think of it, technically my current one does too

My middle name was misspelled on my drivers license for years. Even when I corrected it on the replacement the proof was misspelled and I had to correct the proof.

I should note it wasn't my misspelling the person switched around two common vowels. And I failed to catch it. Didn't stop my wife from making fun of me though.

No, but my signature on my ID card looks like it was made by a first grader.
They had just updated to this digital system so you had to sign on a thing that was like a very dated, very inaccurate tablet with a ton of latency. Tried like 5 times and it always came up badly lol.

Not my doing, but I am a III and few times that has been interpreted as Lii for some reason. Two jobs ago I was in the system as that and I just let it ride because it was really funny to get name tags and shit with Lii on it after my last name.

not that i remember but reminds me of what my mum done. i was born and she wrote the wrong name for my birth certificate :messenger_tears_of_joy:

pulling a name out my ass here: Simon Smith. so for 15 years i was known as Simon Smith legally because that's what was on my birth cert. Smith being my mum's surname. my name should've been Simon Brown because Brown was my dads name.

never got it legally changed to "Brown" until ~2006 when i got my first passport. growing up everyone knew me as "Simon Brown" but if my parents ever needed to give my legal name it had to be Simon Smith.

I've had issues twice when buying a car. My normal signature is initials plus surname but the DMV wouldn't allow that and made me sign my full name. Buying a car I signed everything with my normal signature but then one form my signature had to match my driver's license so I did my full name. That caused issues and I ended up having to get a notarized form stating both signatures were the same person.
Second time, my initials at work have to be unique so I have the initials 'PB2' at work. I accidentally used those initials on the car paperwork and had to go back to the dealership and reinitial everything.

Had a friend in high school who scored a 14 on his ACT. I don't know if he was drunk, hungover, high, or just didn't care when he took the test because it was the lowest score I've ever heard of.

Anyway, he had his results packet with him in class and we were all in shock at his low score. Someone said "I'm pretty sure you get 10 points just for spelling your name right!" and immediately after someone snatched the packet out of his hands and saw where he in fact spelled his name wrong on the test.

I know your brother, how's Hash doing?

No but everyone else spells my name wrong. Friends, family, people who have know me all my life.

Wankers.
When I was a kid my dad added a shed to our backyard complete with a concrete ramp for wheelbarrows, mowers, etc. While the concrete was still wet he wrote all of the family's names in it with a stick and spelled my name wrong. I was only around 3 when it happened and it didn't even register to me until a few years after. He felt bad but not bad enough to fix it, lol.

My first driver license had my last name misspelled. I took it to the DMV with my temporary license and showed them both, asked to have it fixed and the worker said I couldn't legally change my name until I was 18.

….

That was my first "let me talk to a fucking manager" moment in my 16 year old life.

No, but I can't seem to figure out what my signature really is, so every time I have to sign something it's like "asdooqid12idhoaishc" if not worse, and at this point I am not too concerned to properly change it.

I had an insurance payout for a totaled car held up for 2 weeks one time because my signature didn't match my actual name.

They didn't like my signature that would make even a Dr. blush. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

No, but my signature somewhat always look different, multiple times banks or other institutions called me to sign documents again to match a signature I don't remember.

I have a full name so common it almost seems like I'm fucking with people when I sign for shit. It's kind of brilliant baked in soft trolling irl.

Edit: with that said, no, I've never misspelled it. The trolling isn't the only thing that's baked.

My name is just 3 letters (Jim) so that would be hard.

My sister (Therese) tended to have a bit more problem though. People would always spell it "Teres" unless she spelt it out.
