No one should buy it. The company can absolutely stand on its own legs being a multiplatform publisher.
It doesn't need to be sold to be used as a tool to buy a dominant position in the market or just to make Kotick, Lulu :pie_roffles: and crew even richer.

Yes, it can. It is self-sustainable. Xbox isn't spending $70 billion on a dying company.

Activision makes $8 billion in revenue and $2 billion in profits. That's likely more profit than the Xbox division itself. Activision is the biggest third-party publisher. If ABK can't survive, no other independent publisher can.

Activision-Blizzard got a yearly net income (i.e. profits) of $2.2B in the year 2020, and $2.7B in the year 2021.

For a total 9800 employees, this means the company is profiting $275 000 per employee. As a comparison, Microsoft has 221 000 employees and posted $70B in profits, meaning it's profiting $316 000 per employee.


Somehow, some people are actually convinced that ATVI will wither and die if this deal doesn't go through, despite Microsoft not having a significantly better earnings/costs structure.
The levels of misinformation being forced into some heads is astounding.

my comment was deleted when i have supported my points of view with shit ton of information and examples.

I make these short comments with a purpose:

if the individual wants to engagae (like this very reply ) i will engage in conversation. if people decide to ignore them, its ok. You can think of as an invitation. because having these conversations is time consuming.

As i have already exemplify many times. These AAA Devs/Publishers despite making tons of profit. their modus operandi is fucked up.

The talk of the TV world right now is undoubtedly Sony and HBO's The Last Of Us series, which has drawn massive attention through its first few episodes — and even Xbox's Phil Spencer has been loving it!

However, Activision Blizzard seems to think this success could actually work against Sony when it comes to Xbox's attempted takeover of the company behind Call of Duty. Lulu Cheng Meservey, EVP of Corporate Affairs and CCO at Activision Blizzard, had some interesting comments to share about this on social media yesterday.

In a Twitter thread, Meservey explained that the FTC appears to be worried that "Sony's position as market leader could be jeopardized by this deal", but she thinks there's no reason for concern because "Sony has an unrivaled warchest of IP, not just in gaming but TV, movies, and music", as evidenced by The Last Of Us.

Here's the full set of comments from yesterday:

"Hi FTC — did you catch last night's episode of The Last of Us? It was incredible. No wonder the show is breaking records. It's a true blockbuster, watched by tens of millions. If you haven't already, you should check it out. You may be particularly interested in the fact that The Last of Us is produced by Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. It's based on a best-selling video game developed by a Sony-owned studio and published by Sony as a PlayStation exclusive."

Meservey's comments are in direct response to the US Federal Trade Commission, which has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft's attempt takeover of Activision Blizzard. The FTC's decision drew a lot of criticism from Activision Blizzard late last year, with the company stating the FTC had "lost sight of realities of the competitive gaming industry".

There's seemingly a long road ahead for Microsoft, Xbox, Activision Blizzard and the FTC, but we're still hopeful a resolution can be found in 2023 (maybe even in the first half of the year), but expect a bumpy ride until we get there.

Maybe Microsoft doesn't like some of the concessions that they have to make. Doesn't mean it won't get approved but they would be happier if they didn't have to make them. I'm not sure if there's a way to fight concessions that are demanded from them.

Xbox didn't have 8 billion laying around for Bethesda and sure as hell doesn't have 70
for Activision.

The claims of protecting Sonys market share crack me up the rest. Umm, no influencers. Every gamer stands to lose from consolidation and foreclosure. Just look how run of the mill Gold subscribers are treated now with these pittance offerings. If they'll treat their own customers that way for not subbing to GP, then how on earth are we supposed to believe the average consumer will benefit at all from this transaction?

I remember quite well how all xbox fans were shouting like they won only to be floored once the games released and the consoles were compared against each other.

Because instead of showing a huge performance difference both consoles are operating nearly identical. So there no winner to this at all.

But you are free to believe xbox somehow won this gen or at least the spec wars.
