If it's releasing the Pro in Fall 2024, then Sony will announce it in September and then release it in the same year, November 2024, like they did with the PS4 Pro.

Your OCD issues are not Sony's problem. There is always a better version of what you own - houses, cars, phones, PCs. Now there is for consoles too.
I suspect that could be an add on with the drive if the patent is anything to go by.

I don't want to be mean, I really don't, but usually the reasons why people seem to be against one come from a REALLY misinformed place, or from an overly traditionalist one.
Main selling point could be Freesync 120fps+ games, along with a new range of Bravia TVs to take advantage of.

Without RT PS5 GPU is around 2070 super (so close to 2080), with RT it's ~2060.
IF there are "Pro" consoles this gen Xbox series S will be even more destructive to game development than it already is.

The reason for me is... I have eyesight and I can see the pc market and smartphone market. I dont want that to happen to consoles.
Consoles are and will be backwards compatible from last gen forward. This means they could be selling new console every year if they wanted

I do not think its going to be destructive, the most popular console will be that main one for dev (PS5) and for rest it will be just scaled up or down.. so like it was most of the previous gen with PS4.
Its more like we gonna see 600p games on Series S with some upscaling to look only half-shit on 4k screen.

That's what I'm thinking. Keep it as a deep secret until it's imminent. I think I'd be game for an upgrade at the end of next year as long as there are clear benefits.

Most unnecessary console of all-time, can't see how people are clamouring saying WE NEED THIS when we've not even transitioned into the current gen only phase of games, almost all games are still being made with ancient last gen hardware in mind and I'm sure we aren't even 20% into seeing how far these puppies can be pushed when it comes to visual fidelity.
Newsflash games aren't suddenly going to turn into these tech demo level releases, as they'll still have to run on standard PS5s and in terms of third party releases, run on a Series S. So you're going to be paying an extortionate fee just to experience ray tracing modes at a higher framerate with a slightly higher dynamic res.
For me that's not enough of a reason to upgrade my console mid gen, but if anyone is excited for this then hey more power to them, I just don't see the reasoning yet for this console refresh.

Nvidia are out here charging £1600 for graphics cards that do not offer x3 the performance of a games console, you bet your arse there's a market for these things.
buy that logic buying any new gpu is waste as well. and unlike gpus this is twice a generation thing.

Again, that's an overly traditionalist mindset, but you don't articulate why your fears are warranted. It wouldn't even be possible to offer a meaningful new upgrade every year, given that both Sony and MS have to design a SoC for each model.
And again, it will be 4 years if this arrives on Q3 2024, in previous gens we would already be talking about a new generation after 4 years.

The 4090 absolutely offers more than 3x the performance of a PS5. The issue is developers do not take advantage of this, don't have the budget to do so, and the user base that own 4090s is incredibly small. Even a 3090 runs circles around a PS5.

Though I don't believe it would ever be a yearly cycle like phones it could get closer to PC like cycles if enough money is made

It's amazing how many people don't bat an eye at spending thousands at their gaming PCs over the course of a console generation, but suddently get up in arms at the thought of spending far less on a console after trade in/selling your old system upgrading from the regular console to a "pro" model.

Sony's been registering parents for what would be a higher performance PS5 since 2020. They even have a patent for chiplet-based SoCs.
Modularity of performance in their 9th-gen consoles might have been in Sony's plans for a lot longer than the semiconductor crisis.

One of the biggest upgrades from last gen is actually the hard drive to Nvm. We're not getting that jump again. Load times are just about non existent when done well.
It should be just graphics and some more grunt for PSVR2. I'll gladly pay for a refresh every 3.5 to 4 years. It's a little different than releasing a GPU every year.

Sony is not letting you play a full library of ps1, ps2 and ps3 games. Only backwards compatibility will be whatever games they put on the service.
Way too early. Bring on the games first.

I guess you forgot that the first Xbox was a massive flop and Ms gave up on it quickly and tried their luck with the 360. With which they were very successful.

It doesn't actually reinforce your point at all. Considering a single use case is looking at this from a narrow point of view. Let me be more specific, no developer is using a 4090 to create a 30 FPS experience that some gamer's don't mind. Highend GPUs like the 4090 can can be used to push resolution, ray tracing, textures, foliage, etc...to its highest* potential at a respectively frame rate beyond 60 FPS. Pushing high frame rates on consoles comes at a cost. This usually entails degraded textures, lower resolution, lack of ray tracing, reduced graphical effects, reduced foliage, and so on.
