Because they cheaped out the consoles.. they should already aimed for better and more expensive, scalpers prooved that the 400/500 mark is a illusion... this gen got a small leap while trying to push RT ... we have phones beeing bought every year on the thousands and gpus sky rocketing either... the age of 400 consoles is over if this industry is too keep moving forward technologically... at least as the only option ... ps5 and xbox series x should have been the "S" consoles ... with a pro version as a second more competent skuI'm all in on Pro consoles....I will buy them all. I think for this gen it's just frustrating because nothing has really come out that pushes the current consoles.
That's my only gripe.
Why bother u so much someone who wants will play in a box with better performance? You are ruining the market and whole console gaming with this. This is why 2000$ smartphones come out every year. Because fools would buy them.
Console gaming is about flat even floor for 7 years or so. Not pro models, crossgen and any of that. Because of requests and line of thinking like yours, console gaming is taking in cancer from pc gaming.
More models, versions, upgeades every year if we keep on this track. It’s just a bad pc at this point.
This is everything that console gaming is NOT.
Just get a pc and don’t poison our pool
Better RaytracingThere's no marketing hook for a PS5 pro to sell on.
games aren't gonna look like that
Do you work at nvidia?Because they cheaped out the consoles.. they should already aimed for better and more expensive, scalpers prooved that the 400/500 mark is a illusion... this gen got a small leap while trying to push RT ... we have phones beeing bought every year on the thousands and gpus sky rocketing either... the age of 400 consoles is over if this industry is too keep moving forward technologically... at least as the only option ... ps5 and xbox series x should have been the "S" consoles ... with a pro version as a second more competent sku
None of those things are anything you can sell an upgraded console on to the mass public, especially since they've already that to sell the regular PS5.Better Raytracing

Marketing does not matter, it's for enthusiasts only anyways and most people are going to buy the cheaper consoles.None of those things are anything you can sell an upgraded console on, especially since they've already that to sell the regular PS5.
What marketing are they going to use here? Same features, but for real this time?
The only ones who would understand the difference are tech savvy or "hardcore" and those are already on board.
Nope ... just a gamer wanting for more options in the console market since I dont have the patience for the PC master race bullshit ... two skus with normal and premium prices and specs should be the norm since the creation of the Pro (IMHO) ...xbox had the right mindset with the S and X they just fucked it up the execution .... who wants a normal machine aka (3050/3060) pay the 500 and play .. who wants the 3080/3080TI pay the equivalent and play .. everybody winsDo you work at nvidia?
Especially recently with his PS hardware he has been spot onPeople are doubting Tom Henderson? Ha!
Not a chance,6900XT at best
Then what's the point? Enthusiasts already own a PS5. Profits on hardware are minimum at best. A PS5 pro isn't going to expand the user base and its only going to increase game development costs. What's the benefit here?Marketing does not matter, it's for enthusiasts only anyways and most people are going to buy the cheaper consoles.
VR possibly? Then what's the point? Enthusiasts already own a PS5. Profits on hardware are minimum at best. A PS5 pro isn't going to expand the user base and its only going to increase game development costs. What's the benefit here?
Fall 2024 would make sense.
You realize Tom Henderson has never been wrong right ? His a very credible insider and Insider Gaming is his website.
I dunno why they would release a Pro before a Slim but I’d buy one regardless.
This can't be true. It's incredibly stupid in this era with everything being overpriced. If anything, it's one of two things:
Sony's not dumb enough to release a "pro" console when they just caught up with their PS5 inventory and the majority of their big titles were cross gen titles. Not happening.
- A PS5 S to compete price-wise with the Series S. It will be a PS4 Pro with the PS5 SSD and memory.
- A "slim" PS5.
The most I can see is them repackaging PS4 Pro into an "S" style low cost PS5 alternative.
if you don't care for it and you don't play on PS5 why are you replying so much in this thread? to cry like a little baby?I'm sure it's real. I just hope for everyone's sake that the Pro upgrades don't cost $10 per game. I couldn't bear to watch that happen to my GAF bros and sistas. I can practically already see the threads on the TLOU1 Remake Pro Upgrade when I close my eyes.

They'll have to keep complaining then. They'll just bump up the render resolution to 8k and run that at 30 fps. It's for the people who complain about 30 fps games.
Day 1 for me.
AMD's roadmap for Zen5 3nm is 2024. Not saying that the alleged PS5 Pro's SOC will be built on that node, but even if it's 5nm, that will grant at a minimum a 1.8x increase in logic density potential. So, you could be looking at a 18+TF machine. One can dream for 3nm.
Logic density:
7nm - 97 million transistors per square millimeter.
5nm - 173 million transistors per square millimeter.
3nm - 290 million transistors per square millimeter.
Still got to account for power consumption at the end of the day.
FSR 2.2 or any of its variation doesn't need dedicated silicon. FSR3 presumably will.So proabaly a 18 TF console with built-in hardware for FSR 2.2 then right?
Intel arc A 770
Most likely best case (72 CUs, ~21 AMD Tflops). Based on what some like HeisenbergFX4 have said, it seems like that extra juice will be marketed for RT. It’ll drop just in time for current gen-only games to consistently peak at 1080p-1440p/30(40)fps.Not a chance,6900XT at best
More like 80%. You need a 6900 XTX to be at twice the raw performance of the PS5.A770 has good RT but the Pro will target 6800XT at least, which will make it twice as fast as the current model.
PS5 Pro is needed for 4k too...The only reason we got a PS4 pro was due to 4K.
But what are they gonna tell their customers?PS5 Pro is needed for 4k too...
And non potato RT performance.
To stop lying to the consumers would be the minimum, yes.But what are they gonna tell their customers?
Gamers: I thought the PS5 was already 4K?
Sony: Yes, but the PS5 Pro is real 4K.
Disappointing to read the reactions here, thought there would be more hype.
2 years of cross-gen has polluted everyones mind. Yes, these consoles are managing 60 frames at the moment but there are already games which are 30fps on PS5 such as Plague Tales:Requiem, Quarry. These games are barely scratching the surface too. Once we move into mid-gen, I can assure you vast majority of AAA titles will be 30fps. There is absolutely a market for Pro considering a significant portion has now gotten a taste of better frames.
What we need is the GOAT thread back up (or a new one) "PS5 Pro Speculation OT"
Glad I held off on buying the regular PS5.
If the Pro version comes out that'll be my target, hopefully Last of Us Multiplayer will be out or launching by then.
I have a Series X right now alongside my PS4.Then you'll be waiting almost 2 years from today. Do you "REALLY" want to wait that long to play current-gen-only games?
omg stfu
