Has nothing to do with it. It's about Ashtray saying it was disingenuous PR bullshit, when it's just normal PR stuff that any company would do.

FTC can indeed ask to see the contracts but again that has nothing to do with calling it disingenuous PR bullshit.

Yeah, companies make PR statements all the time, but they are usually not because they need to sway government regulators. Equating these PR statements with any run of mill business-to-business partnership is just nonsense.

It's ok, you live for the PR, it's more important to you than the facts are, we get it.

Everything about this is about regulators, either to create arguments for approval/disapproval or to create public pressure.

Don't ever think that Microsoft or Sony (or any other corpo) has poor people like us in mind when they do the shit they do.

dude submitted to her pressure , she is def a DOMINATRIX

No worries, I don't think that AT ALL. They only care about their own bottom line, just like I care about mine. I've got Game Pass. Hope the acquisition goes through because of that since I believe that this won't change anything about the quality or quantity of ABK's output.

I'm not exactly sure what I just skimmed through over the past 20 pages, but at this rate, I'm gonna need a good bourbon when this thread hits 1000 pages…
I'm more of a rum guy myself but don't worry, I have a bottle on hand for the day of The Decision on whether regulators will block this acquisition or not. No matter what the result is, I'm gonna be doing shots.

Sounds to me more like FTC is wanting to see the contracts in detail because yeah it could potentially weaken their argument(s)... Things are looking up recently for MS, and here i thought they were on the ropes for a while haha love all this drama. Hopefully we get some juicy MS & Sony internal document leaks soon!

I don't think MS ever had anything to fear when it comes to the FTC, but yeah, I'd love to see more underbelly of the gaming industry.

The best part of this saga is when some guy on Resetera mentioned some porn star's name while dissing her, literally got laughed out of the thread lmfao.

For posterity's sake, do you happen to recall the name ? ya know just so I'm aware who not to compare her with .. yeah ..

Is it normal in us that the suspect does not provide documents and evidence to defend himself in court? Is this what microsoft is doing with ftc or am i misunderstanding?

This isn't a criminal proceeding so pleading the 5th does not apply.

But there is no case by case basis. Unless im very wrong I don't see another Bethesda game on PS again. Do you think there will be? Also ghostwire and deathloop were pre existing contracts signed before the acquisition, so they don't count towards anything. If there are ever sequels to both those games they would be xbox and pc only. Case by case was just another phrase with no substance. Microsoft are the King's of doing that.
MS continues to support all games that are on PlayStation with new content like ESO and Fallout 76. They also released that Quake remaster title on PlayStation after they acquired Bethesda and they did not have to.

Honoring the Ghostwire Toyko and Deathloop deals does mean something because the argument made here is that MS cannot be trusted and doesn't honor contracts made with PlayStation and other platforms. If they upheld the deals with those two games why would they now be lying about CoD?

Most of this is still moot because MS unless contractually obligated does not have to put ANY of their IP on non-Xbox platforms but they do so far more often other platform holders. Xbox games will hit non-Xbox platforms on a case by case basis. Not every game is promised to every platform.

Dude, I'm 100% you're Phil Spencer's personal bot at this point.

Why must everything you post read like slimy spitshined PR? Is this all a ChatGPT experiment gone horribly wrong?

Because they're not dumb enough to take EXISTING games off PlayStation. They're also not dumb enough to make games exclusive after Ghostwire and Deathloop have been advertised by PlayStation.

Using this as proof to show they will not make COD exclusive is dumb.

Leave some vulnerabilities for the Russians to exploit.
You know very little about cybersecurity if you believe that, also MS is one lf the biggest players in the cybersecurity industry.

Vulnerabilties are part of the current threat landscape, if I recall correctly last time I checked an average of more than 50 new software vulnerabilities were published on a daily basis, let alone the number of 0-day vulnerabilities.

By the way, MS has been providing support to Ukraine on infrastructure and cybersecurity even before the war started, e.g: https://www.reuters.com/technology/...-against-ukraine-microsoft-report-2023-03-15/

I just don't see the problem with CoD being exclusive later down the line. Especially when they are already working GaaS games that could fill the gaping void.

Is CoD that big that it's a input? It isn't

No, im pretty sure Google would've outbid ms for ABK if Stadia was still around.

Don't think so. They cited Microsoft's sudden buying spree as a reason for them having to shut the service down which indicates they weren't willing to have to go toe to toe with them in that regard. And in all honesty, no company should have to in order to stay relevant considering the way the industry works from a 3rd party partnership perspective.

He doesn't realise it but his tweet only reinforces the regulators' current stance.

Ahh ok

Perhaps he is on the verge of self-awareness?

I mean, whether he realizes it or not, isn't he really saying Stadia died because it couldn't compete without those games?

Derp.
Which they didn't have access to, so in essence Microsoft giving life to the gaming community as a whole. Generous angels they are
