Diablo, Forza horizon this year, I'll save way more instead of paying for these games. And this way I can share it with my son as well

CMA changing their idea relatively to the competition in the console market is obviously a major development that imo is now going to get this deal approved.
Without speculating about what changed their minds and why it wasn't noticed before, it seems that CMA and Europe have alligned in focusing about the cloud market, but with the deals that Microsoft has signed with competitors in that market it's likely that this will get approved with the remedies that Microsoft has proposed unless there are further unexpected u-turns.
It will be interesting to see what's going to happen with the FTC, it they want to go in court over this or if they'll settle.

Nope if they want they can treat them like any other publisher. Those don't make you sign ten year deals Microsoft want call of duty on PlayStation.
Fox Sports Networks wasn't in the deal and Sky PLC stake wasn't required, it was sold before it was finalized to reduce debts. What they had to divest was not even a scratch to their plans, its like saying that they would have to divest Demonware from ABK.There was divesture required for Disney-Fox beyond just Fox sports

Partly …. they agree with MS that the way they determined the value of a person switching platform wasn’t accurate.
That led them conclude it would be fiscally unsound for MS to remove COD from other platforms, and that instead MS Will operate COD like Minecraft - i.e. permanently multiplat.
Then they dismissed the partial foreclosure scenarios as not insurmountable for competitors.
So now we await the cloud decision.
What this means for consoles? Well if MS do as they say and take a Minecraft approach with CoD then Sony will probably be happy - that’s basically multiplat with no time limit, and the offer to the EC of third party monitoring gets Sony parity.
So because the CMA erased the SLC for consoles there’s no more to this unless they receive new information.

The UK CMA has issued an update on its provisional findings in its assessment of Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Although the update is provisional, the UK CMA has said that “the CMA inquiry group has updated its provisional findings and reached the provisional conclusion that, overall, the transaction will not result in a substantial lessening of competition in relation to console gaming in the UK. To many, this will be deemed a major step closer towards closing the proposed acquisition.
The UK CMA will report its final report on April 26, 2023.
Martin Coleman, chair of the independent panel of experts conducting this investigation, said:
Provisional findings are a key aspect of the merger process and are explicitly designed to give the businesses involved, and any interested third parties, the chance to respond with new evidence before we make a final decision.
Having considered the additional evidence provided, we have now provisionally concluded that the merger will not result in a substantial lessening of competition in console gaming services because the cost to Microsoft of withholding Call of Duty from PlayStation would outweigh any gains from taking such action.
Our provisional view that this deal raises concerns in the cloud gaming market is not affected by today’s announcement. Our investigation remains on course for completion by the end of April.

Eh, I wouldn't count on that, to be honest.
They have used the same arguments as they did with Zenimax, i.e., making COD exclusive will not be financially viable. After a few years, they can decide that it's now financially viable (surprisingly!) so they are making it exclusive now.

Hopefully this means the deal will go through as i want all Activision games on gamepass. I can see them keeping Call of Duty multi-platform for longer then 10 years as they will be making a lot of money from PS owners(and other companies too) though i can see them making all other Activison games exclusive to Xbox/PC.
I wonder what MS next acquisition will be i hope they make some in roads in Japan and buy the likes of Capcom or Square Enix. I can also see Sony attempting to buy more studios but since they tried to block this deal i can see MS trying to block any of their purchases. Though i hope not as the back and forward drama with this deal was more then enough.
Either way it will be interesting to see how the gaming industry is shaped in the next 10 years thanks to MS being more pro gamer these days.

I really don't think you're gonna see xbox go after a publisher for a long long time. The optics and pr from all this have been damaging to their brand. They're gonna focus on Activision blizzard getting integrated and reformed.

I would have liked to see the calculation that MS used that was redacted. I do suspect they it was likely just based on consumer only buying CoD and no accessories or other games/services.

The fear from Sony is a BS tactic. MS isn't going to spend $70B so they can limit it to Xbox and PC. They didn't do that to Minecraft. And if there was ever a time to do it was that game because it was just getting off it's feet on consoles. So if MS wanted to be scrooge they could had walled it off asap, but they didn't. The game still sells and makes shit loads of money, so no point walling it off. COD too.
As if MS is going to cut off all the revenue annually from selling 10M copies + mtx on PS.
Disney wasn't planning to acquire Fox Sports, that was meant to be kept into Murdoch's Fox Corporation alongside Fox News, because it would screech into antitrust issues that are regulated with TV channels, their only divestments that MIGHT have been out of the plan were just a tiny fraction.
The reason why they had to divest rather than having it spun out to Murdoch in the deal was because they couldn't find buyers for the local channels in time, so Disney had to "own" temporarily as allowed by the Deparment of Justice.

I bet MS has had their back compat teams remastering / updating all ABK games this past year and will drop them into GP before Christmas of this year. It took about six months from the zenimax aquisition to get all their games on the service. Damn, that's ALOT of games..
