Great news but fuck sony if i dont get diablo 4 on gamepass day 1.
Someone, check on Jim Ryan....
Nope if they want they can treat them like any other publisher. Those don't make you sign ten year deals Microsoft want call of duty on PlayStation.I don't think you fully grasp the concept of ownership. Sony has no rights to CoD unless it produces CoD. Sony needs to sign a deal with the owner of CoD if it wants a legal guarantee of feature parity and releases. Say the deal falls through and Microsoft agreed to an exclusivity deal with Activision (insane but possible). Sony would have no recourse. Thats why its in Sony's best interest to strike a deal. Especially given its heavy reliance on third party sales.
Fox Sports Networks wasn't in the deal and Sky PLC stake wasn't required, it was sold before it was finalized to reduce debts. What they had to divest was not even a scratch to their plans, its like saying that they would have to divest Demonware from ABK.There was divesture required for Disney-Fox beyond just Fox sports

That's what @reksveks was saying. I haven't gone through all the document yet

I expect a slight uptick in posts on April 25..Just ready for it to be over one way or the other

Yeh but they refuse to add their games to subscription services. Ms buying ABK was the only way to make it happen.Activision can put Diablo 4 on Game Pass whenever they want.
Ahahahahaha. Ahahahahaha
Fucking A man. I am happy.
" I wanna block your merger " eat shit Jimbo
I still down own an Xbox my self. Only S for my 8 years old. But when this deals close and call of duty on game pass, I'll subscribe to game pass for sure .between call of duty. Diablo, Forza horizon this year, I'll save way more instead of paying for these games. And this way I can share it with my son as well
CMA basically did an about face on everything they said previously. Microsoft does not have incentive to foreclose COD. The acquisition does not significantly lessen competition.
Done deal
It is extremely stupid to agree with whatever regulators say when it is clear they don't know what they are talking about.
Strange u-turn from CMA, but I voted that it would pass based purely on an innate pessimistic feeling that the industry is going to consolidate more. (will MS stop here or are they still shopping? Take Two next?)
Cry more. The worst console company, which can't even compete with what they have, the company that was sleeping for a whole gen and was now crying about how better their competitor was.
Lol nothing quality or game wise is gonna change with ABK. So they will search for more for their "fake compete".
They saw that american senator asked about Playstation during trade talks with Japan and UK government (who wanted a trade deal with USA) made a call to CMA asking to abandon Playstation shipSo much for "structural remedies". Y'all had me thinking CMA was some kind closed minded dictatorship.
I voted the poll, but it is the first time I post in this thread.Someone hasn't paid any attention to the poll results it seems.

The UK CMA has issued an update on its provisional findings in its assessment of Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Although the update is provisional, the UK CMA has said that “the CMA inquiry group has updated its provisional findings and reached the provisional conclusion that, overall, the transaction will not result in a substantial lessening of competition in relation to console gaming in the UK. To many, this will be deemed a major step closer towards closing the proposed acquisition.
The UK CMA will report its final report on April 26, 2023.
Martin Coleman, chair of the independent panel of experts conducting this investigation, said:
Provisional findings are a key aspect of the merger process and are explicitly designed to give the businesses involved, and any interested third parties, the chance to respond with new evidence before we make a final decision.
Having considered the additional evidence provided, we have now provisionally concluded that the merger will not result in a substantial lessening of competition in console gaming services because the cost to Microsoft of withholding Call of Duty from PlayStation would outweigh any gains from taking such action.
Our provisional view that this deal raises concerns in the cloud gaming market is not affected by today’s announcement. Our investigation remains on course for completion by the end of April.
You can read the full report here.
Eh, I wouldn't count on that, to be honest.Except Microsoft swore before God, Jesus, and the government that they would never take it off playstation it would cripple them in the eyes of regulators especially since they want to acquire more publishers.
I voted the poll, but it is the first time I post in this thread.
I would have liked to see the calculation that MS used that was redacted. I do suspect they it was likely just based on consumer only buying CoD and no accessories or other games/services.CMA basically did an about face on everything they said previously. Microsoft does not have incentive to foreclose COD. The acquisition does not significantly lessen competition.
Done deal
Certain Affinity, INTERIOR/NIGHT, Squanch. That's all I would ever expect. Small shit, or nothing.I really don't think you're gonna see xbox go after a publisher for a long long time. The optics and pr from all this have been damaging to their brand. They're gonna focus on Activision blizzard getting integrated and reformed.
That being said I expect to see certain affinity bought almost immediately after this deal closes lol.
Surprised they think that Microsoft will keep their word here. The same rhetoric was used when buying Bethesda so I expect COD to leave PS sooner than the 10 years. The last COD on Playstation will be PS5 only [no next gen, I guarantee it]
Yup.Hopefully this means the deal will go through as i want all Activision games on gamepass. I can see them keeping Call of Duty multi-platform for longer then 10 years as they will be making a lot of money from PS owners(and other companies too) though i can see them making all other Activison games exclusive to Xbox/PC.
I wonder what MS next acquisition will be i hope they make some in roads in Japan and buy the likes of Capcom or Square Enix. I can also see Sony attempting to buy more studios but since they tried to block this deal i can see MS trying to block any of their purchases. Though i hope not as the back and forward drama with this deal was more then enough.
Either way it will be interesting to see how the gaming industry is shaped in the next 10 years thanks to MS being more pro gamer these days.
Disney wasn't planning to acquire Fox Sports, that was meant to be kept into Murdoch's Fox Corporation alongside Fox News, because it would screech into antitrust issues that are regulated with TV channels, their only divestments that MIGHT have been out of the plan were just a tiny fraction. If that's your take then fine, but what I said is correct.
Lets watch the shills narrative the second MS makes COD exclusive .... as I fully expect then to do as soon as the existing contracts are over.. and will happily eat crow if Im wrong
Tempting no doubt, but I would deem Capcom more likely given Sonys investments into e-sports and all that jazzLook on the flip side, if this gets done, Sony can just finally go ahead and buy Square Enix and no one has to play that "but why aren't they putting their games on xbox" game anymore.
The big SE games are already PS exclusives. SE wouldn't benefit Sony as much as something like a Capcom would do at this point.Look on the flip side, if this gets done, Sony can just finally go ahead and buy Square Enix and no one has to play that "but why aren't they putting their games on xbox" game anymore.
Lol Square’s useless.Look on the flip side, if this gets done, Sony can just finally go ahead and buy Square Enix and no one has to play that "but why aren't they putting their games on xbox" game anymore.
Sony only has $5 billion left for Gaming Acquisitions. Doubt Sony would get Square Enix. Square Enix would want premiums which would take them over $10 BillionLook on the flip side, if this gets done, Sony can just finally go ahead and buy Square Enix and no one has to play that "but why aren't they putting their games on xbox" game anymore.
